agnelle, good point about keeping your Twitter feed positive. I follow few people and they are all in the happy club, so I never have "twitter angst!" zowie, not sure I understand the question about fans inflating sales figures? How is that even possible when the sales figures come from Sound Scan?

My only real concern at the moment is the fans with twitter accounts who don't understand how radio works and now they are sending messages to DJs. (No one really knows what goes on behind the scenes with radio stations.) I've seen tweets to djs and radio stations complaining to them about having Adam for promo, but then not giving his song spins. This type of promo without spins HAPPENS ALL THE TIME! Please, Please don't harass the DJ or radio stations! BTIKM may just not fit on their playlist at this time or even in the future. Adam is doing this week of radio promo because it has been planned for weeks! The stations may be thrilled to have Adam and they would love to play more of his music, just not this song. Their ultimate responsibility is to their listeners. Have these hysterical tweeters stopped to think about the fact that Adam, RCA and the radio stations may have already discussed the fact that BTIKM does not really fit at their station at this time, but they would LOVE to play his second single if it fits better. I really believe this whole promo tour has been about album promotion and " paying it forward". This promo isn't a waste! Promo is cumulative. Adam is out there being all positive and he is looking at the overall big picture! Adam knows he has more singles coming to promote and an album coming soon. It doesn't do Adam any favors for fans to bitch and complain to DJs and radio stations! Why don't fans get this? I agree with everything you said but you're preaching to the choir imo. I don't think any of us here are silly enough to bitch to radio PDs & DJs about not playing Adam. Sadly we can't control fans on twitter or in the fandom generally. Nor should we. Adam has a diverse fanbase and we don't group-think. Some of those fans will do crazy things unfortunately but I'm sure that happens in most if not all fandoms. It's sort of a microcosm of society as a whole. FWIW - I never voice concern on twitter or anywhere other than here. And most of that "concern" is in the form of questions to myspenser. ;D

It was just something I have seen and it concerns me. I'm not on Twitter, but maybe some sane fans could dm some of those hysterical ones if they are twitter friends with them. It couldn't hurt! Some fans are hysterical no matter what, but some are because they don't understand how radio works. They might need some calm, rational input to alleviate some of their fears.

tigerlily - Most twitter fans are saying pretty much what you are. It's just a couple of doomsdayers that try to drag others down with their "realism", with little success. I can only speak for my feed of course.

I'm hopelessly behind on the Daily News thread, so I assume it's been discussed that BTIKM is now on the Sirius Hits1 Hit-Bound Poll, finally. I've been listening all afternoon and never heard it played but I did hear Nicole say repeatedly that Adam Lambert is hosting the Weekend Countdown all weekend long. Or was it the HitBound show? I only get it in my car and I don't remember when those shows start, but I thought it was Friday evening? But this should be worth some spins I assume?
ETA: Duh, just checked the schedule, HitBound first airs Saturday morning at 1 am and Weekend Countdown at 2 am.

OK, this is really changing the topic, but it is numbers related...
So, I post over at that "other place" sometimes. Actually it is my most rational, positive, level-headed self that posts there, lol. (Sorry that it is you guys here that get to hear my doubts, rants, etc.) But anyway, somone there suggetsted that it would not be out of line for Adam to open with Cook numbers (40-60k) if he has no radio presence. Now...I like to think that I am a very realistic, non-OTT fan, and I think Adam could drop his album tomorrow and sell that much. Am I seriously out of touch? That has to be Idol-bubble bitterness creeping in, right? This isn't really me angsting, but rather shocked that this idea is even being suggested.
Help! Am I crazy? I'm not expecting Adam to open with the FYE numbers of 3 years ago, but 40-60K seems ridiculous with or without a hit song.

If he opens with numbers that low, I will be shocked! ETA: bullsfan, I like Cook too. I was very sad with his numbers and also very surprised. I thought he would do better.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
And I am just going to back out of MJs for tonight as I refuse to get in some stupid debate with someone who is probably just a bitter Cook fan (and I like David Cook!)

I am stealing this from MJ's because it is such a good explanation of how to read the daily spins and that sometimes (often) a negative isn't really a negative! I wonder if one of our members wrote this? www.mediabase.com/mmrweb/insideradio/charts.asp?format=3&showyear=y&dpt=nThe number of spins this week (the column with the heading TW) has been fairly steady with a small increase from 504 to right now it's 511. Remember that the number from "last week" (LW) is really 7 days ago from right now. The "move" number is the change from spins now minus the spins counting back 7 days. So the "move" number can appear to drop even when the actual spin count has not. If he had one day with a large increase in spins and then more days gradually adding a few spins when you get 8 days from the day of large spins you can see what looks like a drop in spins. It's hard to explain but if you watch the chart and think about it, it's really not that complicated.
Say, Friday a week ago Adam had 400 spins and today he had 500 spins his move number is 100. But say last Sat he had 450 spins and tomorrow (Sat 7 days later) he still has 500 spins then his move number is only 50. All I'm saying is he didn't actually lose spins he just didn't continue to gain spins at the same rate.

You have to look at who's posting this garbage - it's the same three posters over and over again. I feel 100% sure they are going to drop another single when BTIKM gets high enough to be considered a moderate success. I think that is one of the reasons they pushed back the album date. My cock-eyed optimistic hope is for 100K even without a big hit and more if there is one. I will believe that until proven wrong!!!
