I dunno rihannsu....that theory wouldn't explain the significant drop off of spins in Canada. Adam might be fighting prejudice here in the States, but I don't think it's the reason the single is losing ground up there..... I think you overestimate the independence of Canadian radio. Aside from adding required Canadian content, most Canadian stations just copycat the same shite that is played in the US. At least, that's the impression I get. Didn't the songs from Adam's first era move up the charts faster in Canada? I know that FYE went Platinum and WWFM was 3x Platinum in Canada. Where is Australia and New Zealand? Why isn't BTIKM charting in these two countries? All three singles from FYE went platinum in NZ!

The local paper here in Phoenix ran a story today about a Queen tribute band that's coming to town, fronted by a Freddie impersonator named Gary Mullen. First of all, the story included quotes about Freddie from "noted singers" including David Bowie, Axl Rose, Katy Perry...and one Adam Lambert. (They quoted some of Adam's remarks from that NPR interview where he gave his opinion on why Freddie was great.)
Anyway, according to this news story and different reports I've seen on the web, many Queen/Freddie fans regard two guys as top-notch stand-ins for Freddie: this Mullen guy and Marc Martel. I looked up both of them on YouTube. And you know what? They do sound a lot like Freddie...but in a karaoke, imitative way. There's a difference between imitating Freddie and re-interpreting his music with your own vocal spin on it - and we all know which Adam does. He hits notes these imitators (and maybe even Freddie himself) could only imagine.
Could it be that some of the haters are skerred that Adam's vocals might be (haters, clutch yer pearls now) BETTER than Mr. Mercury's? Just a thought.
Check out these clips of Gary Mullen and Marc Martel, and judge for yourself: should they, or Adam, be singing with Queen?

Don't like RCA Ed. Never did! Frankly, the choices are RCA Ed or nothin'. I'm tired of nothing. RCAEd can be a prissy pain, but he knows what's going on even if he doesn't really tell. Plus, he actually went through the effort to pull up numbers when nobody else could/would. So yeah. Offer him dancing girls and lap dances. Just get him to stick around long enough to say something real. Because he actually does know a lot of answers.

Yep. There are VIP packages available (tho' very pricey!) Grandstand seating, food, lots of other stuff. Go to AFL, and check out the packages. Do it TONIGHT because the general sale starts tomorrow and they will probably sell out FAST. I think there may be a more full description either on Page 1 or on the meet up thread in the members-only section. Just curious....Did other fandoms get a shot at these early tickets? Read somewhere that the Queen fansite linked up to the same place we were sent. No idea about the other fandoms.

I dunno rihannsu....that theory wouldn't explain the significant drop off of spins in Canada. Adam might be fighting prejudice here in the States, but I don't think it's the reason the single is losing ground up there..... Canada's dropoff might be due to RCA not giving them any attention. Adam seems to have done very little promo in Canada. They supported early but maybe didn't feel they got enough promo reward and were dropping back holding out for more attention which if RCA has decided not to push BTIKM they may not get till album drop. I don't know any more than anyone else but the reasons don't have to be the same. There are SO many factors that go in to making a song take off on radio that none of us watching from the outside can ever really know what went wrong. Hell most of the time the labels and the artists don't know what went wrong. It seems to me that so far the majority of Adam's promo started out focused on the UK/Europe. Maybe Canada feels slighted after not really getting much in the way of GNT tour dates, who knows. I just think that too many people are being too quick to discount the effect of homophobia with respect to US radio simply because it is not blatant. I stopped listening to radio for years because the level of misogyny and homophobia and even racist behavior was off the charts for me. When I first moved to Florida I had an hour comute to work and tried to find a radio station to listen to for the drive. I listened to every station I could get and only found 1 that didn't have nasty, misogynistic, homophobic assholes as DJ's. That station was a Classic Hits station and I only switched to our top 40 station in order to support Adam. The morning DJ is black and much more tolerable but even he has a kind of knee jerk homophobia to him but he at least TRIES not to be a complete ass and he does support LGBT community. But he personally is totally squicked out by "the gay". My response was mostly about what I felt RCAEd was trying to convey and given some of his other veiled comments in the past I have always felt that Adam's progress on radio was much harder come by than any of us thought. This is what my gut is telling me and over the years I have gotten in more trouble ignoring my gut instincts than I have in following them. I honestly think that RCA signed Adam knowing that Radio would be a serious problem. I think the fact that Adam is so much of a visual artist in addition to his voice is what will be his saving grace. I just feel that they always knew radio could not be the main aspect of his presentation. Some of RCAEd's past comments made it sound like they had to convince Adam it was even worth the effort to try. I know Adam wants radio hits but I don't think Adam was ever under the illusion that it would be easy.

It was fun to be able to flail here yesterday! Have only managed a quick skim through the thread today. Very excited for all who are going to Sonisphere, and I'm anticipating the vicarious pleasure of reading about your experiences. Wish I could go -- so many reasons why I can't. Like others, I hope to attend multiple shows during the Trespassing tour. I went to 2 GNT and a Jingle Ball in 2010 -- hope to be able to do more this time. Congratulations to all the intrepid concert-goers

I think you overestimate the independence of Canadian radio. Aside from adding required Canadian content, most Canadian stations just copycat the same shite that is played in the US. At least, that's the impression I get. Perhaps, but didn't they start off with more adds and spins? Which indicates a degree of independence. The spins are decreasing....there has to be a reason for that.... Just babbling here - I know nothing. I think most of the initial spins came from a couple of stations in Montreal and Toronto. Sadly the rest of the country do not seem as innovative/independent. If anything, it may be even harder to push an artist that doesn't have the backing of US radio since there is less airtime available for non-Canadian content. I really have no clue how radio actually works, these are just my impressions. I am becoming more and more jaded however as time goes on - it just seems fans have very little/no input into radio play. The decisions seem to be made by the hidden powers that be, whether it's due to payola, homophobia or a damn coin toss! Fortunately I'm to the point I don't care, I will buy and listen to adam's music and appreciate his success, even if he doesn't become a mega star. Que sera, sera.
