Cookie -- Could you please add me to your reading list? This HAS to be more interesting that doctrines in theology! LOL, you are one of the first people who I've added to the list that I'm convinced will be thoroughly entertained by Adam-adjacent academic drivel!

I'm watching them choose the top 24 on Idol right now. Remembering how nervous I was waiting to hear about Adam, & how gorgeous he looked, & then how overwhelmingly excited I was to know that I'd be seeing him every week. He consumed me...& still does! ;D

Yay! Adam and Queen got a nice article in my free local daily newspaper, including a good, current photo of Adam. Interesting that the article beside it is of a London band who worried about selling out because one of their songs was on the Twilight soundtrack and then found the song was background music and not very high profile. Whenever I start to angst a little about Adam's career, I just think of all the great bands and musicians out there who are trying to get to where he is now. It's tough to break through, as Adam well knows.

LOL. I just ordered it, but won't be able to report back for a few days. It looks like it's about 12 pages long, so we'll see how much of it is really about Adam and how much Adam is just the attention grabber for mind-numbing academic rambling. Cookie, I would love to read this too! I enjoy some occasional mind-numbing academic rambling, lol. (more so with Adam content of course) Me 20! Thanks Cookie!

Despite the competitive feeling these polls bring out in me (on Adam's behalf, not my own), I'm seriously considering ignoring the challenge this time. If he wins, what will it get him? What did winning all those previous polls get him? They just keep putting him up against other performers, and he keeps winning, and where is the airplay for his music? I don't know what to do anymore. Jumping through hoops doesn't seem to have any effect. I'd like to be zen about all this, but it eats at me. BECAUSE we don't really know what effect these tedious challenges, etc. have on Adam's music and his career trajectory, is exactly the reason I personally choose to continue voting like a fiend and supporting him in any way possible. There may be advantages that aren't quite so obvious. Think about this....how did we, as fans, get a reputation as such an asset to Adam. How many times have we heard "Adam, your fans are so incredible!!" How many times recently have we heard Adam say that if not for his fans, he may not have been making a second album. I see this "reputation" coming from acknowledgement of an accumulation of so-called "fan activities". We rarely let Adam loose a voting challenge, we break websites in our fervor to support him, we can raise a million dollars for his charities, we sell out magazines when he's on the cover, we buy multiples copies of his albums, attend multiple concerts, etc. etc. These isolated activities all add up to Adams fans being recognized as a somewhat powerful force, IMHO. So while not everything we do may result in increased radio play, I believe, in the long run, that these activities really matter a lot to Adam's success. While radio success is important, I think we are helping to show that Adam is an extremely valuable commodity, in a variety of different areas. So I would encourage us all NOT to get discouraged, but to look at the bigger picture. IMO, all these seemingly small and insignificant victories for Adam add up over time to something more significant even if the "something" is often intangible. Did that make ANY sense to anyone but me?????

Regarding the question about the Queen press helping BTIKM get airplay -- it is having no measurable effect Here are the numbers for the past 7 days vs. the prior 7 days on HAC in the US. Peak #31 Last week #31 This Week #32 ADAM LAMBERT Better Than I Know M... 19/RCA 2011 Spins TW 510 LW 501 Change +9 (This is 7 days vs. 7 days) Stations playing 44 up 2 from yesterday Average spins per station TW 8.6 LW 8.5 +0.2 TW vs. LW -- down 0.2 since yesterday On Pop radio, it is #64 this week vs. #63 last week in spin rank. LAMBERT, ADAM Better Than I Know Myself Spins this week 242 last week 193 change +49 Total Audience Impression past 7 days 0.745 (in millions) I think the numbers speak for themselves -- BTIKM is stalled or has peaked. It has enough adds to move up the charts -- particularly on HAC. The fate of this track is in the hands of radio listeners and fans. If PDs and DJs hear that their audience wants to hear BTIKM, they will play it. I talked to several PDs who added BTIKM to their playlist -- they tell me they are not getting requests.
ETA: Now is when requesting BTIKM really matters. It is at a tipping point. And this is when a few fans can make a difference. I'm a little confused by what you said in the bolded part above.. There have been posters here who have been requesting regularly and still don't hear BTIKM played with any frequency. Also, does everything that's played on the radio require requests? It was my impression that it was up to the PDs as to how often a song gets played and what kind of rotation it's on, and not on requests. I listen to KLLC and I can't believe that some of the songs they play have many requests at all, and yet it seems they are spinning BTIKM less, which I noticed today. Some of these songs they play are old songs, yet a new song like BTIKM is getting less spins. It's all very confusing.. ??? I agree with you. I think those PDs are lying. There is no doubt in my mind that Adam fans all across the country are requesting the song.
