I just got a notice that Liam retweeted my tweet about Charity Water. He has over 2,700 followers. I'm guessing that virtually all of them are Adam fans, so hopefully many will join in the challenge. murly - what about AWOP? Are you still active there?

Absolutely, and I have posted the information there everyday since the challenge was announced. Today I threatened to send out flying monkeys if people don't get involved. Donations made before the 29th count, right? Today I saw three donations with Leap Day Challenge in the comment section. So we're off and running! I can volunteer to count up the number of Leap Day challenge donations, but I want to be clear that I have this right: Any donation with the words "Leap Day Challenge" in the comments gets a $5 match, right? Even if the donation is $100, it gets $5 in matching funds. So basically it's just a matter of counting up the number of "Leap Day Challenge" mentions in the comments, and when we hit 1,000, they'll be matched with $5,000 by the generous members of Adamtopia. If I've got anything wrong, let me know. It was confusing when we were trying to figure it all out, and there's a good chance that I'm still confused.

We should be counting over a 48-hour period, from when the first time zone gets to Feb 29 until the last time zone leaves Feb 29 ... in some parts of the world it has been Feb 29 for several hours, but we can't tell on the Charity Water page where the donations are coming from ... so I say let's give them all the benefit of the doubt and count for 48 hours!

Just to clarify, the way Q3 has it set up right now, we're matching donations up to $5--that is, a $1 donation will receive a $1 match, a $2 donation will receive a $2 match, and so on, up to $5. Any donation over $5 gets a $5 match, too. Does that makes sense? The idea being, I suppose, to encourage a bunch of $5 donations. Also, technically Q3, in her info post above, Q3 limited the matching period to the 27 hours in which it is Leap Day somewhere in the US, but I'm confident that the earlier donations will effectively be matched as well. . At 5 dollars a pop, we'd be very happy indeed to have all $5000 our matching funds depleted to such an extent that we couldn't match those early birds . If we have some extra money left in the pot on March 1, I betting it'll find it's way quickly into charity:water's coffers!

Yes. if we don't get to $5000 matching I'm donating my $100 anyway as I'm sure most will. :D
Btw - There are two "Leap Day Challenges" posted on 2/26.

The matching is really just an incentive to get people to donate, but I feel certain that no one who agreed to match will say, "Forget it. I was willing to give $100 to match other donations, but since not enough came through, I'll just keep it for myself." I'm working hard to promote this because I just don't feel I can afford to give very much more. I really wish I could. I am so happy to see how many Adamtopians stepped up to pledge matching donations.

I sold some stock LOL. Not for this but because it stopped paying dividends and I wanted more money for my upcoming trip. But it helps now too!

I'm really far behind in my Adam stanning, and still stuck in the day before yesterday forum when all this was being discussed. Ie, I don't quite understand how all this is working out, but I'm happy to add my name for $100 to the sponsors' list.

I have read the comment and I am confident that the full amount of the pledges will get donated one way or the other. I am going to work as hard as I can to get people to donate and blow that matching fund away. There are a number of people waiting to donate. So who knows what tomorrow will bring but the main thing is this is a wonderful charity and a great way to thank Adam.

Do I wait to see if $5,000+ donations are counted or do I just go ahead and put my donation and my matching $100 in?
