Thanks for answering myspenser - I can always count on you! :D I agree that Adam really does know pop music and that he has several potential pop singles on the album. I'm hoping he has some say in which one becomes single #2 because I don't have too much confidence in RCA's decision making rn.

Ya, with absolutely nothing to go on, except the weirdness of this rollout and them choosding a HAC single for a Pop singer ??? I don't have a lot of faith in RCA's suits either. So far, the only good decision they seemed to have made was to delay the album until April. And with that, I feel it shows they are completely behind this album. Otherwise, they would have just let it go like they did with poor David Cook's. Because, while it is great to sell a lot of singles and have those fast #1s, remember, it is albums that make the big money for the label.

Is the consensus here that BTIKM is pretty much dead on CHR? I'm happy with how it's doing on HAC & iTunes finally, but don't really have much hope for Top40. Question - IIHY didn't do as well as WWFM, but we are hoping if BTIKM is a moderate hit it will pave the way for single #2. That didn't happen in Era#1 so what makes us think it will happen now? Is it because of the UK flailing over Cuckoo & other songs? More CHR friendly? I am NOT angsting here at all - just trying to understand how the Radio-savvy peeps feel about it. It's not dead, but it really looks as if a majority of the Pop stations are just not interested. There really isn't any reason to spend any more time on this single, except for Adam has to have something to promote during this promo work. At the end of these couple of weeks, I'm hoping they move on to a song more suited for Pop radio airplay, but I'm not counting on RCA to do anything smart. >:( I'm betting they will ride this out until it peaks on HAC and heads way down the chart, which could easily be a month or more from now.

ETA: I think 2 singles was always the plan. They just expected BTIKM to move faster. But, any radio follower knows HAC IS SO SLOW!!!!!!!!!!

"Dead" is such a harsh word, lol. Having said that, BTIKM is not going anywhere on pop radio. CHR simply is not interested. And, at this point, if a new uptempo pop song is coming within the next month, I would rather CHR hold-off and add the new song. Why should Z100 add BTIKM at this point? Let's wait and have them give their support to the next single---that just makes sense to me.
BTIKM is doing ok on HAC, but it is slow going, and I don't think RCA will wait until June for it to peak.

The thing is if CHR would play it it would do really well. It is a great song that I think would fit very well with current Top 40. I really don't understand it because it is a high quality song. At least we know for sure that the next single will an upbeat dance tune and I think a lot of this current promo will help with that.

I think someone else touched on the possibility of the #2 single release not being a hit since WWFM , a slow tempo'd song was a hit, his follou- up IIHY did not do nearly as well. We know a fast tempo song will be release, there are no guarantees a fast song will be accepted. What makes Adam so different is his fabulous voice. Fabulous voices don't make hits. Ok what am I trying to explain. SOmetimes I think Adam puts too much voice into his song. On radio, look what is selling other than Adele? Britney . or even Justin TImberlake....its a great beat song. HEavens sake, look at the rapping shit that is out there. SO I hope his next song, which we assume is dancey, dancey will be more beats and forget about thoughtful words, just repetitive dance, dance, dance. because I want a HUGH HIT for him. OK I'm just over thinking this single..

It costs big $$$$$ to be able to get soundscan numbers. It is like Getty photos. You have to have access and you have to pay for that access! Every number we have ever gotten, besides when he has been in the top 200, has been because of leaks or because RCA Ed got them for us. He got in trouble for that too. As far as gold goes. If the second single is big, it will also sell the first single. So Gold is not impossible!
