Adam is smart and he knows what is popular. He will make the next song great, whatever it is. Hopefully, this time RCA will listen to him. Adam is smart but even with his voice and production, it didn't work for BTIKM I've listened to the supposed Bruno next single. TO me it just so so. It sound like a Bruno tune. I don't know unless they really rev it up, give it a really heavy bass beat it could be fine but not a mega hit. I don't see it. I've listened to it 10 times and the "hook" hasn't been humming in my head. The last part of the song I think loses the song, it slows down. I just don't know. |

I like BTIKM a lot & think it has a definite hook but I don't think the production is good. Adam sings the hell out of it (as he always does) but IMO the production is the thing that keeps the song from being a radio hit.
I totally agree and I agree that Adele's songs have it and so does Stronger.
Again - agree. But there ARE pop hits that have too many things going on at once. IMO a prime example is LLWD. All those words jammed in there. Not simple at all. I dislike the song and could never understand how it did as well as it did.

I still believe that BTIKM was not Adam's choice for a single. Not every song is single material even though it is a good song. About Bruno's song, he called it a collaboration. I take that to mean that he and Bruno got together and worked on the problems that made it originally not an album choice. Now he sounds very excited about it, so that seems like a good sign. Especially because I strongly expect it will be the second single. |

Oh ya, this song has a great hook! The "never close our eyes" is very hooky and the whole chorus is a jump up and down with your arms in the air flailing dance song. If the production is good (Dr. Luke, sigh!) it could be a killer! Don't get the concern over this morning's update. We knew Adele would pass him. She is going to pass everyone. Unfortunately, that's just the way it is. She is the wonder child of the past year. And the Wanted and now Fun have the new hot songs. It doesn't show on the abbreviated update that is posted here but he has 3 new stations spinning. The one that decreased is the DC one, but hopefully that will right itself when he gets there in a few days. I really like NCOE. I think it IS a hooky song. ;D Can't wait to hear Adam sing it. 8-) I will say this and then hide, I guess. But I don't understand the massive worldwide appeal of Adele - why is she selling umpteen millions of album and winning armfuls of Grammys? I mean, IMO, one can hear female voices that good in churches all around the country every Sunday. I don't get it. Is she the current SueBo? Is that it? I know she has a more commanding stage presence than SueBo. Can someone who loves her explain it to me?  I guess comparisons are good for discussion and analysis, but I really don't care personally how much radio play NAL gets or how many albums he sells. Guess I never got much into that competition because I never saw Adam until the Idol finale. Then I only had eyes for him and didn't even notice the other guy. Adam blew me away. heh. 8-) |

Some aren't into that type of music or they dislike those types of voices. Why is Adele doing so well? IMO, it is the combination of several things that is appealing to a broad spectrum of people. The way she puts words together, especially inside the music, is a gift. People can relate to the lyrics of her songs. She sings them in a way that is emotionally raw. You can hear the pain behind her words. Adele is the opposite of the Pop Divas. She has problems with stage fright and has said she often times throws up before going on stage. She is overweight, writes most of her songs when she is drinking and she cusses like a sailor.  Adele is someone who a large number of people can relate to. Adele and SuBo shouldn't even be in the same sentence together!  SuBo records covers and has zero interpretation skills. SuBo was selling a story, Adele can actually write music and lyrics and connect on a emotional level to her songs. |

I didn't fully get Adele either until I saw her on 60 min. Her personality blew me away and strangely enough I now appreciate her music more. I guess because I know it is REAL (an overused word I know). But I can believe what she sings.
I don't think her voice is the greatest - the higher notes in SLY are cringe-inducing to me. She really strains & her voice is weak. But her lower register is wonderful. This is just another example of why a great voice isn't important in today's music. The girl singers I've loved in the past are 100X better vocally than any female in pop today. But it doesn't matter.

My feed has been SPAMMED the past few days. (They go in waves because it's tough to keep up on.) Susiefierce--CLEARLY these peeps have no idea what they are talking about. Don't they know this song is terrible and has no hook and lousy production and isn't sing-a-long-able etc etc??

Different strokes for different folks. And yes you don't have to like the song, but this shows that a lot of ppl DO and it's not a lost cause despite the pronouncements as such. Personally at this point Imma take the opiions of non stans over those who are overly invested as we are, cause we tend to angst and nit pick everything and kind of suck the fun out of it all in out epic quest to have it all go the *perfect* way (which is totally different to everyone lol)...I like them because they are fresh, honest, unfiltered opinions with no bias of agenda or expectations....they just dig the song.
I've always said it...it's a good song. The more people hear it the more will like it. I often wonder how many people in fandom who proclaim to hate the song only now hate it because it isn't doing what they want it to or expected to do by now on the charts? What if they release an uptempo song and it takes time as well....will people them say they hate it too if it doesn't perform to their expectations?
I still think we may get another single pre album drop but I also expect them to get as much as they can out of this song since it def has the potential to move pretty high in HAC even if CHR isn't hoppin on board....yet. It could still happen. Who knows...
But whatever...DOOOOOOM !!! LOLOL =b

I have a suggestion. When we are discussing songs and talking about hooks I would really appreciate hearing exactly what the hook is rather than people just saying "oh that song has a great hook". The reason I'm suggesting this is that everywhere I've been in discussions and debates people are constantly arguing back and forth about hooks and NO ONE EVER SAYS WHAT THE FUCKING HOOK IS!!!!! To be honest I've kind of tuned out of these discussions because I've seen just as many people say WWFM didn't have a hook as I've seen saying BTIKM doesn't have a hook. I for one would like to learn exactly WHAT it is that people consider a hook and if no one ever identifies what they see is the hook how is any one supposed to learn.
