ITA, Chunkey, and I think that analyzing a point repeatedly that doesn't necessarily have an answer is only going to lead to frustration and NO answers. Bottom line – the shit takes time and isn't meant to be watched every second of every day.
I've heard Kris' new song once and it was better than anything I've heard from him before, but do I think it's going to race up the charts? Bwahahaha!!! No.
Of course, I could be wrong, but I'm going to bet Kris will have same struggle as Adam, but worse. He has no hype, no star quality, little name recognition and has been gone longer than Adam and doesn't have an Emmy nomination, a sold-out world tour, the Queen pedigree, A-list collaborators, or anything else behind him. He has RCA and was an Idol winner from three seasons ago. THAT'S. IT. And ONE strong single (which hasn't sold as much as WWFM).
He could be releasing The Greatest Single That Ever Was and STILL would struggle. Because why? Because no one is going to hear it. CHR will stonewall him the way they stonewall any other artist that isn't in the Top 3% of all singers on Earth. The people they put immediately into heavy rotation have a proven track record and they number less than about 15 – in the world. And he will have NO international backup to end-around U.S. radio.
If it's deemed "a good song" by the capricious and mysterious radio gods, and HAC PDs get behind it, maybe it will start getting play, probably not much faster than BTIKM has, IMO.

I have a suggestion. When we are discussing songs and talking about hooks I would really appreciate hearing exactly what the hook is rather than people just saying "oh that song has a great hook". The reason I'm suggesting this is that everywhere I've been in discussions and debates people are constantly arguing back and forth about hooks and NO ONE EVER SAYS WHAT THE FUCKING HOOK IS!!!!! To be honest I've kind of tuned out of these discussions because I've seen just as many people say WWFM didn't have a hook as I've seen saying BTIKM doesn't have a hook. I for one would like to learn exactly WHAT it is that people consider a hook and if no one ever identifies what they see is the hook how is any one supposed to learn. It's basically the part of the song that gets stuck in your head for lack of a better explanation. But since everyone is different not everyone hears a hook the way others do it seems. For me BTIKM is WAAY more hookier than WWFM is. I dunno but for me the hook is the chorus starting at the "if i wanted to go I woulda gone by now..." But some it isn't as catchy to them so they don't hear a hook. IDK it's very subjective it seems.. |

My problem right now is that people are slow to purchase this single...maybe it will pick up but unless next week we have a super week of stations spinning this single, and once promo is done, who the hell is hearing it???

Susiefierce--CLEARLY these peeps have no idea what they are talking about. Don't they know this song is terrible and has no hook and lousy production and isn't sing-a-long-able etc etc?? LMAOOOOOOOOOOOO Different strokes for different folks. And yes you don't have to like the song, but this shows that a lot of ppl DO and it's not a lost cause despite the pronouncements as such. Personally at this point Imma take the opiions of non stans over those who are overly invested as we are, cause we tend to angst and nit pick everything and kind of suck the fun out of it all in out epic quest to have it all go the *perfect* way (which is totally different to everyone lol)...I like them because they are fresh, honest, unfiltered opinions with no bias of agenda or expectations....they just dig the song. I've always said it...it's a good song. The more people hear it the more will like it. I often wonder how many people in fandom who proclaim to hate the song only now hate it because it isn't doing what they want it to or expected to do by now on the charts? What if they release an uptempo song and it takes time as well....will people them say they hate it too if it doesn't perform to their expectations?
I still think we may get another single pre album drop but I also expect them to get as much as they can out of this song since it def has the potential to move pretty high in HAC even if CHR isn't hoppin on board....yet. It could still happen. Who knows... But whatever...DOOOOOOM !!! LOLOL =b (crosses fingers this post doesn't get deleted) Yes, this is what I wonder too. I just find it ~interesting that some of the people who said that BTIKM was catchy, a great song, said that they love it, are now saying that it's a bad song, with no hook, etc., I just think that in some instances, some parts of fandom are like a hivemind. Just following what the loudest segments of fandom are saying. |

LOL I love that - NO ONE EVER SAYS WHAT THE FUCKING HOOK IS!!!!! As chunky said another word would be catchy & it's usually the chorus. I think BTIKM's chorus is very catchy/hooky. The ONLY thing I don't like about the song is the wimpy beginning. It just doesn't immediately grab you. But I'm repeating myself. Susie made excellent points. I've seen all those Adamimpresses tweets too and I love seeing them. There are people out there that love the song that are not fans. Yet. We just have to get the PD's on board so more people can hear it. If there is any ingesting to be done it's probably better to do it here than in the News thread doncha think? ANGSTING not ingesting. WHAT"S WRONG WITH GOING WITH TRESSPASSING? talking about a "hook" - that song is one HUUUGE hook! ... angst is not even the word I would use - I feel total desparation... :-[  I do hope that we are wrong about NCOE as a single... i really do...  |

IA on the subjective part with pretty much everything being discussed here. The only thing NOT subjective will be the ultimate sales and airplay high-water mark of the song, after it eventually stops charting and we have little idea of when or what that will be. There are patterns in what makes a pop hit, and there are songs that break each of those patterns and become hits. There are 'no names' with Top 40 songs charting well, and their are superstars whose last singles didn't climb as high as expected. For me, subjectively, the BTIKM hook is 'if I wanted to go, I would have gone by now, but I really need you near me, to keep my mind off the edgeee'. I think Adam's radio promo is absolutely building goodwill for this era, and will 'pay forward' to whatever other singles come along. But again they will have to connect with listeners on their own merits, and will follow their own path, whatever it might end up being. |

Another reason I think ppl should wait to hear the actual finished products before they pronounce what they think would be the perfect single. NCOE will be perfect! No it will suck! I want Cuckoo! No I want Trespassing!!! Blah blah....we don't even know what they will truly even sound like...what if we hear them and you don't even LIKE them that much? LOL At this point we are going off our imaginations and the hype of the reviewers and our own hopes...so stating so and so would be the better/perfect single makes no sense since we have no friggin clue if they would be since no one in fandom has even heard them. Just a little perspective. |

I don't think many have said they hate or even dislike BTIKM. I think we're just trying to figure out WHY it's languishing. Nothing wrong with that IMO.
