I've listening to TJ's guitar playing in here and then listening to Kevin's guitar playing when they're in Dallas (2nd video). Here's the difference between TJ & Kevin that I can hear:
1. I Listened and watched the first 30 second of TJ's playing, the guitar sounds' louder than Adam's voice, almost if not overpowering Adam's singing.
2. Then listen to Kevin's the first 30 second; in the intro he's strumming the guitar string loud enough but when Adam started singing, he changed it soft enough so the guitar's not overpowering Adam's voice. Then when Adam started singing in higher register.. "Coz If I want to go I would've gone by now.. " Kevin increases the volume of his guitar playing.. to match Adam's voice.
3. Listen to Kevin's guitar playing when Adam sang softly on "Better than I know Myself" starting 1.10 - 1.12, he also played it soft. Compared to TJ starting .57 -.59.. nothing changed in his guitar playing... still loud.
4. Then listen to the second verses when Adam sang, "Now All along".. Kevin at 1.15 started it really soft while TJ's at 1.02-1.03 just strum.. strum.. loud...
Here's my conclusion:
Some members heard that Kevin's guitar playing as tiny, beside maybe the instrument itself,
but also I think because he played it with feeling to match Adam's voice; when Adam sing the song softly Kevin also strum the guitar string softly and when Adam sing the song in higher register then he increased the volume of his guitar, while TJ's just struming the guitar loudly, yes on the bridge and at the end he tried to matches Adam's voice.. but other than that rarely even trying to match Adam's voice ..
I think that's the difference between the professional musician in Kevin's and the guitar player in TJ. When Kevin plays the instrument/guitar, he's not leading Adam and overpowering Adam's singing, but instead he watches and follows Adam's lead.
