I think the VH1 countdown is also very much influenced by behind-the-scenes label deals. The fact is, David Cook only got one video this era. And I bet RCA kinda figured TLG would be it for him, and they worked things accordingly---meaning they pushed the single for as long as they could (and then some) and probably worked some kind of deal with VH1 to get him a #1 position. Adam will have more videos. My guess is that RCA could see that this song wasn't going to be a big hit, and they held-off on pushing things with VH1. Adam will have more opportunities.
