Laughing stock? No, he just needs that one, great Pop song to break him out and have everyone (even KISS LA) sit up and take notice. WWFM was a great song and had successful sales, but I wouldn't call it a breakout Pop song. I'm talking something like Tik Tok was for KESHA. Do not bombard me with posts about not wanting Adam to sing KESHA type songs. That's not what I mean. I am talking about a Pop song that hits as fast and hard as a song like Tik Tok. A song that is so good, so unique, so amazeballs every station has to play it so much that even we get sick of hearing it!  I think you missed my point. If he did not have the VOICE, if he couldn't sing worth shit, then I could see all these perception problems he has making him a laughingstock. I don't think Adam as he is will ever be a laughingstock. But think about it, take away that incredible vocal instrument of his and that incredible personal charm and you have something more along the lines of Sanjaya. Adam's incredible talent and his sweet charming nature are what will win the battle but look at it the other way too, the voice and the sweet nature without all the OTT theatricality and you've got Michael Buble or Josh Groban. But taking away Adam's voice is such an abstract concept for me, I can't even think of a logical way to discuss that. I mean, he is a singer and that's what he does. If he didn't sing this well, he wouldn't be doing this in the first place. I don't even know what to say? :-/ Besides that Pop is all about the song. |

Pop radio is most definitely all about the song. Pop radio wants a song with a good beat and a great hook that is considered to be an earworm. They want songs that keep their listeners from changing the station, so that they can make money during their advertising minutes. It is a simple formula. |

It is all about the song in Pop. It's the beat, the fun message or angsty I don't give "fuck" message, or sex message, or the sing along ability. I didn't say the songs had great lyrics or are all destined to be Grammy noms. No, actually often just the opposite. That's why many good songs struggle and never make it, but songs like "I''m Sexy and I Know It" do. It's why some of the better songs, have to get into Pop via HAC. If you look at the Top 20 songs on i-Tunes Pop right now, I'd say 11 of them are "party" songs. |

One last thing and then I'm done, lol. I think one problem with the FYE era was that Adam, somehow, became all about the make-up. And I think this was something that started toward the end of AI. Thanks a lot, Ryan. Rarely did an interview go by where he wasn't asked what his favorite eyeliner was, or how long it takes to get ready, or if he was starting a make-up line, or if he would actually apply eyeliner to whatever DJ. It had to get really old after a while, and I don't think it helped in terms of having Adam be taken seriously as a singer. I have noticed that with this radio promo tour, not only are there no more eyeliner questions, but interviewers have also stopped even commenting about his new more "toned-down" look.
Anyway, I have high hopes for this Trespassing era. And I really think if they release a pop song next, he will get an early add from Z100.
