Those of you who get Rolling Stone, there is a great article about Jimmy Iovine in the April 12th issue. (It's the one with Adam's Spring Preview in it) Iovine talks about his start in music and how Interscope got started. At the end of the article, he really says some interesting things about the industry in general, albums sales, singles etc. It is definitely worth reading.

Can you give us a general review? :D I can't believe how drastic the change was with Radio Sophie's playlist once it changed over. They certainly didn't "ease into" Top 40 radio! |

Welp, it seems that BTIKM definitely has peaked now. Hope new single comes out with the next 1-2 weeks.

I have to run some errands and I will do that when I get back. OK, he says instead of a record label exec, he considers himself someone who "moves pop culture around." He actually thinks today's music is not as good as when he started. He loves Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, and some of the older rockers. Worked a lot with U2. He thinks Rock is pretty much dead right now. Thinks Arcade Fire has the best chance right now. He thinks Hip Hop is the most innovative music right now. Admitted that Idol is a way for him to get Interscope acts on the show! Says the industry is "as dead as a duck." Thinks digital subscriptions is the way to go. Says there are 8 millions songs out there. "Good luck!" Thinks that 90% of albums should never have been made. They are hard to sell and singles are the way to go. He admitted a trick for getting PDs to listen to music they are reluctant about. He buys a 1 minute ad on the big stations, using a clip from a certain song. Buys the time during evening drive home time so PDs are on their way home listening to their station!  Jimmy smart!! <<< Doesn't use that technique often though. Those are the highlights of what he said about current music. A lot of the story is about Petty, Springsteen, and U2. |

#18 on VH1. :-/ Time to wave bye-bye to BTIKM.
I'm sad that this MV was not seen by more people because I think it is excellent. Too bad the single was not strong enough to get more plays for it.
But of course then there's the DC #1 MV to make me go ???

I really hope people don't wave goodbye to BTIKM.....it will move up to 18 on HAC tonight, is still gaining spins every day (absent the format changes) and it will get adds tomorrow. If RCA are planning to push the next single to CHR soon there is no reason to abandon this song on HAC. The top of the Chart has been very tough recently with 3 artists taking up 5/6 of the top 20 slots I think it's great Adam is even close at this point.....he has had no non radio promotion at all and clearly much of the radio is for the next single (hence RCAs slowing of spending to keep VHI going). I think the effort will be on the new single but I don't see why it would be bad to have BTIKM hang around a while on HAC......in short I think we should continue to request and show interest. And I LOVE the song!
