I thought I knew it all.
Thank you Murly. One is never too old to learn something new. I did not know that about the possessive "it." Thank you for the info. This is a great place to learn. Now that this "it's and its" dilemma is kind of clear ;D I would like to ask this... When you speak for example about Adam and his hair, why do you write Adam's hair, not Adams hair? Compared to it's/its, doesn't "Adam's hair" mean "Adam is hair"! Does it have something to do with Adam being a name?! There must be something I'm missing here... ??? Btw, thanks for these grammar lessions! Because it's is the exception not the rule. Most of the time possession is shown with 's and plural is shown with just adding the s to the word. There is no plural of it because it is a pronoun like his or her. Hers is possessive by only adding s but no apostrophe. The rule for it is the same for her. Contraction rules make "it is" into "it's" just as "they are" becomes "they're". BTW also words that end in "s" are made possessive by just adding the apostrophe to the end without the extra "s" as in names like James which becomes James'.

Awww Adam started following both of his back up singers! Keisha Renee' @keisharenee Background for Adam Lambert. Apart of the A Group background for Jill Scott. American Idol Season 10 Top 40 contestant. Singer/Song Writer. Octavia Latrice @sincerlioctavia Member of Jill Scott's (The A Group)! Music, Fashion, Make-Up, Entrepreneurship, True Love, True friends, and family ....#thingsimabout It's interesting that Keisha Renee removed the reference to her religious beliefs in her profile. I know because I didn't follow her immediately BECAUSE of it.... edited to clarify...but there is no way to write how I feel without being politically incorrect....gah! Hmmm, that's interesting. I wonder how many people don't follow Adam because he's gay and miss all the other things they might admire about him.

Btw, thanks for these grammar lessions! Oops, something was misunderstood along the way. A possessive always uses an apostrophe, the ONLY exception to this is in the incidence of its because it's is a contraction of it is and it gets very confusing to have it both ways, so somewhere down the line the Grammar Rule Gods deemed it's equal to it is and that its being the possessive form of it. Anything else that is showing possession will have an 's or s', depending on if it ends with s or is a plural possessive. BTW, the rule of using the apostrophe at the end of a word ending in S is a style choice. The rules are different depending on what style guide you are using. "The Elements of Style" says to always us 's, even with words and names ending in s. (The exception, classical names such as Jesus.) However, AP says to NEVER use 's on words or names ending in s, so it is James' song. This seems to be the more commonly used rule in the U.S.

Awww, this is a lovely story: From jristen: So I kind of have to share this story from the NNN. As we were leaving, the theater but still in the main seating area, Sauli was ahead of us, standing in a row in between chairs looking back at the stage. This guy in front of us stopped in front of him and said hi. The guy had been in the audience and had screamed "I love you, Adam!" when Adam first came on stage. Anyway, this dude starts really crying and telling Sauli how great of an example out gay celeb couples are. Sauli was so sweet and gave the guy a hug and said thank you. I didn't want to stop and be awkward so I don't know how long they talked. But it was so sweet
