Just read "elsewhere" that the three songs on the deluxe album are "Runnin", "Take Back", and "Nirvana". I don't know if this is correct, however. Then there will be another for Europe. Do we know of more titles? Pretty sure the extra secret track is for the UK. You got the other titles correct  |

James bump is the first big one any Idol has had all season. His bump is bigger than Daughtry's was! Crazy! Just guessing, but James's bump may have been bigger simply because fewer people were even aware that he had any music out. Most of Daughtry's fans had already bought his album and downloaded his single, so the percentage of increase would have been less than Durbin's even if they both had the same number of people buying after their Idol appearance. I still think Durbin sucks--I can't stand his music or his personality--so maybe I'm just indulging in wishful thinking by saying that the bump he got isn't really that significant. Anything added on to his dismal sales is going to look like a major spike. I heard his album shot up both on Amazon and itunes. Currently at #27 at Amazon. Isn't that really good? Adam's is only #70. For the record, I feel the same way you do. Can't stand his voice or his personality. |

I'm feeling a bit down in the mouth about BTIKM.. I love the song and i love the video and I hate to see critics putting it down as a failure. I don't believe it did as well as others and I'm sure NCOE will be a hit,but i still think the song is a really good one and have spent many hours listening to it. Not every song that a singer sings will be a raving success. Not everyone ,even Gaga,Madonna,Bruno,etc. has a perfect record. It's getting so artists can't do their art. Kind of like the movies and TV, every thing is cloned.. so to the music business. Is there any room left for creativity and experimentation,is it all about the bottom line. How about ART? I guess America would have never understood the meaning of a Renaissance period, We don't seem to value anything but money..and patrons of the arts are rare . I feel for singers,like Adam and others who are so gifted ,but what matters is how many bucks they bring in. Is it a wonder that singers are hurting their vocal cords, losing their voices,they are over extended and pushing themselves beyond the possible. Just had to vent.. I'm with you on this one too. I really like BTIKM. Hey, I listened to FYE today and marveled at most of the tracks. I'm probs one of the few that thinks that RCA was smart in releasing BTIKM the way they did -- sort of a "bridge" song until the NCOE release -- just before prom and all that -- sorta fitting actually. I liked it from the start for a single release and I hope it does well. I understand all the concern for Adam establishing his own "brand" and getting songwriting credits, etc.. I know that will come for him too. He has more immediate blocks -- like getting played -- before he will be rewarded with those just rewards. His time will come. He is working VERY hard at making it happen. I want him to have great successes! |

I thought I would start a new list for Atopians going to the LONDON CONCERTS. Q3 if we are going to have a new thread for these concerts maybe we could put my list on the first page where it will be easy to update. Ok! I read the thread here the day (and days following) that BTIKM came out. There were a few posters who said they didn't care for it--but not many. It was a joyous day with lots of praise for Adam's song. We thought it would hit. Perhaps the most frequented description was "earworm". Why did I keep reading the here that BTIKM was a "terrible" choice, that RCA should have known better etc. It's like I am reading an alternate reality where everyone predicted BTIKM wouldn't do well. Not at all how I remember it. Weird. I really like BTIKM, and I remember it received good critical reviews for the most part. I don't find it melancholy and sad like some describe it; to me, it is real and hopeful and the message resonates. My favorite songs are usually not the ones that radio plays, although I have come to enjoy the light, fun energy of some pop songs at their best, especially when I'm driving. I found it interesting reading the tweets from Benny Blanco to Bruno Mars about how much things have changed for Bruno in the last two years. |

I LOVE Trespassing -- it is pure Adam -- but NCOE is the song that fits Pop Radio. Even Adam tweeted it was picked because it was the track that had the most interest from radio. There are some public posts back in December that expressed skepticism about the song because it is slow tempo (82.5 BPM) and does not have a classic pop structure or a hook. Just my opinion -- BTIKM is a lovely track and but not appropriate for US Pop radio. That does not mean that I do not like the track, it means that I do not think it was a good choice as a radio single -- something I posted months ago. ETA: Of course the songs I love would make terrible choices for radio singles -- my favs are mostly FYE bonus tracks and one was never even released in the US -- CLYG. |
