ETA: Of course the songs I love would make terrible choices for radio singles -- my favs are mostly FYE bonus tracks and one was never even released in the US -- CLYG.

I love BTIKM and listen to it a lot at home chill'n. The video is what can I say Epic. I wonder if BTIKM was picked to get everyone talking about Adam. Rather the talk be positive or slightly not...everyone was talking about Adam. Maybe that was just Lady Luck and just happened, who knows. And now he gets to come out with this banging NCOE. I really like the song. It gets me moving. I hope it's a smash. JMO

I know to some extent what you are going through, although our Kiwi contingent have been blessed so far with not having booked any flights to anywhere - yet. The England accommodation screw-up that I made is a whole nuther story tho. I reacted very badly to that and felt physically ill with stress and panic for days after. So, I guess I am one of the lucky ones now.

I am just so sad for everybody that has been affected by the changes and particularly for those who can no longer make it at all. I was so looking forward to meeting ALL of you :-/

Kanadie, the others that have posted earlier about just standing back for a few days and taking some very BIG breaths are right bb. When you are so torn up inside with emotion, stress and anger it is almost impossible to make rational judgement calls *sends you warm fuzzies*

I personally think Adam wanted BTIKM (yes, I know it was really not his choice but I bet he campaigns) because Adam likes a storyline. Even his tour was meant to have a beginning, middle and ending story. BTIKM sets up the light and dark story of this album that was obviously important for him to get across as an intro to the album.

I didn't direct this at you specifically. And it isn't really about people saying whether they liked BTIKM or not. It's just that back then most people thought it would be a hit. Yes, some did express concern with it being too slow tempo for the UK and a few didn't care for it but I don't recall people saying they thought it was a poor choice for a single. Now it feels like everyone has 20/20 hindsight.

Maybe I am wrong, and it doesn't really matter. Just feeling deja vu and hoping for a different outcome this time.

There are no guarantees, even for NCOE. We have to keep in mind that there are 10-20 singles sent to radio every week, some from established Pop artists. These singles also come from good writers with great production behind them and some with big name collabs. Many of these artists are also doing the big radio shows that Adam is doing in the future. It really is a big guessing game! An artists needs a catchy song, good timing,tons of money and deals behind the single and a great deal of outright luck!

Labels don't always get it right, even for big time artists like Bruno, Rihanna or Kesha. Even when they do get it right, there can still be other factors in whether a song makes it to the top of the charts or not. It's not anywhere close to an exact science!

One other comment about that performance. The video shows he was a bit nervous (first TV performance of BTIKM), but listening to it, it just seems to be very emotional to me.
