I would like to thank everyone for the kind words of encouragement today over the whole Queen debacle. I did not mean to bring the thread down, or come off being selfish or one sided for my needs, as I know there are many of us in the same boat. I am in a much better state of mind this evening, and will readdress it on Monday with a clear head. If anyone hears of any details on the Kiev show, I would be interested into looking into tickets for it, as that and Moscow would make attempting more changes worthwhile. Thanks Much!  This post just makes me sooooo happy!  |

I hesitate to reply to this because earlier today a mod said this was off-topic but damn, it tickled my funny bone! Sounds like a commercial! I'm ready to go hire a tax attorney and I don't even need one. I'm such an impressionable burrito. On topic so I won't get booted from ATOP for life, I pre-ordered the album from Best Buy and Wal-Mart today. I've already pre-ordered from AO, Amazon and Barnes and Noble. Damn, I hope no one mentions another source. I've still got to buy from I-Tunes. I may need a tax attorney come May 15th. Oh wait, no, maybe a bankruptcy lawyer. [tentatively] Um...this may be the salsa talking but I think even for the cheese-filled taxes are due on APRIL 15th. [grins] unless Tex-Mex food items file quarterly in which case I know nothing. ;D Public/Adam service announcement: This year taxes are due April 17th! |

Consulting a tax attorney is a good thing. They alleviate these problems with careful planning but still keep you in the driver's seat. Bruno Mars has some really stupid songs out there and they get played. Bruno does not have the greatest voice or range. He came out the same time as Adam and he made it. If Adam wasn't gay and coming off idol, he would in my opinion be bigger than Bruno right now. Bruno established himself as a songwriter and collaborator first. He has ten songs that have been mega hits at a worldwide level. People respond to his music and his voice, including recognition from the Grammy committee. He has proven himself as a writer, singer and performer and has the respect of the music industry. Some may not care for Bruno, but there are obviously millions of people who do feel that he is very talented in many ways. |

While I agree that Adam did not have opportunities because he was openly gay, I do not agree that American Idol is a huge issue. Look at Kelly Clarkson. Idol does not ensure success but it does not preclude it. Adam is a massively talented performer and vocalist. He is also a talented songwriter but has not written hit songs for or produced other artists -- yet. Bruno did not just come out of nowhere in 2009. He has been performing since he was 4. He was signed to his first major label contract in 2004. He worked for years to establish himself as a producer, songwriter and vocalist. It did not just happen. He sang backup, played clubs, played Vegas, etc. He worked for and on major label projects for 6 years before he put out a solo album. His first album included 3 top 10 songs that he wrote and produced -- including 2 #1 hits that are 5xPlatinum in the US. He has had #1 songs in over 40 countries. Prior to release his solo album, Bruno was a featured artist and cowrote and coproduced a #1 song, 2 #4 songs and a #7 song. He has been part of at least 18 Top 10 songs in the past 2 years. If anything, Bruno's success will help Adam because it proves that a male pop star can be a success. |

Here is my purchasing plan for NCOE.
I will buy the single on iTunes on 4/17, not the album.
I already have preordered a physical cd from Amazon.
When TRESPASSING cd is released on 5/15, I will buy the download version of the album on iTunes.
I know that means that the previous iTunes purchase of NCOE will be subtracted from the sales count. To offset that, I will download the single from Amazon. That way, I am getting my purchase of the single to count in first week sales with no real reduction later.
Does this make sense to anyone else? I'm a financial analyst in RL.
and this is the best i can do.

Well according to that chart of Elton's schedule posted on pg. 22, the Queen/Elton/Adam concert will be between June 24 and June 29 OR someone mentioned July 1 which is Euro Cup in Kiev. Seems like travel into Kiev during this Euro cup isn't going to be easy or cheap - even if they aren't actually performing as part of that, I read that hotels are jacking up prices. Guess/hope we find out soon enough.
