Trespassing 1st week is going to have to contend with Adele, Carrie Underwood (who will still be selling a ton, I'm sure) and Glee (I don't think any assumptions can be made regarding pre-sale numbers---Glee likely gets most sales after the songs have aired on TV, I don't think it ever has really high presales). I hope RCA gets going with the single this week. Adam is doing a big radio concert for 103.5 Chicago KISS and he is the ONLY performer who is not being spun by this station. At all. ITA -- Carrie has a lot of staying power and will book big numbers. I except to see Adele on the Billboard 200 in 2020!! Doesn't everyone already own this album? One good change for Adam is that RCA pushed Chris Brown's Fortune from May 8th to June 26th. May 15th is a pretty clean date for an album release. #1 should require sales over 100,000 units just to content for #1. And it seems reasonable that Carrie will still be high on the charts for her 3rd week out. And Adele continues to "Roll on" -- 90K last week and #2! I just hope that there is enough promo to push this album. |

I just hope Trespassing can go top 3 drop week. I would love for it to open above 100K sales, but that will be tough. Maybe he could do 80-90K? I do think a lot will depend on the amount and the quality of promo he gets that week. He has really good management, so I feel pretty optimistic.
eta---sorry if this has already been covered, but,is there an add date for NCOE yet?

I heard NCOE on my German radio station for the first time today (in a request show) and it felt really good to finally hear the song on the radio!  My poor neighbors!  +  Hope they will add it to their normal program this time, unfortunately they didn't add BTIKM! :-[ on njoy? I just checked if my local station has played it. They have not, but Energy has played Adams "Bändscheibenvorfall". If you cannot remember it, Adam took over the radio station for an hour. Only one of the 11 Glee album was a US #1 album "Glee: The Music, Volume 3 Showstoppers" -- They have released 8 albums since then. Last Glee Cast albums charted 4, 3, 1, 3, 5, 3, 2, 4, 16, 6, 9. Nothing in the says that Glee Graduation is likely to take #1. Could it happen? Sure. It could be brilliant. Will it? I am not putting my money on it. So back to the main question -- will Glee Graduation outsell Trespassing? And if you believe it will, why will this Glee album outperform the past 8 albums? I have no idea. If Trespassing sells around 80K, possibly. If Trespassing sells around 100K, probably not. It all kind of depends on what Adam's CD sells. If TP sells about 80K, the Glee graduation CD will not have to outperform the past 8 albums to possibly be higher. All it will have to do is equal what it did this time last year, which is sell 80-90K. Why do I think it might be able to do that? It's all based on emotions. If the viewing audience is all emotional about the seniors leaving the show, they might want a "keepsake" from the show's first cast. It's kind of like when those horrible coronation songs do well from AI. Viewers want a "keepsake" of their favorite's winning moment. The song reminds them of how THEY felt at that moment. If Glee has good songs that connect to people's emotions on the season/series finale, viewers could possibly be motivated to buy the CD for a keepsake and to remind them of their favorites and their own emotional moment. Will this be enough to beat Trespassing? A lot depends on how well Adam's album does. Either way, it doesn't matter because it will just be for one week and then the Glee album will drop like a rock. I just hope Adele doesn't have a performance on TV that week or some kind of special or something!  |
