I was just about to post a similar comment.... very quietly so as not to get banned from this forum. Given: I support Adam in whatever genre or artistic venture he chooses. Given: My opinions are just that ... MINE. Cassie. While others may strongly disagree with them, at my age, the chances of someone making a strong enough argument to cause me to change my musical preferences approach zero. So there is no point in getting into a debate with me. J/S. Adam has an incredible, magical, gorgeous voice. A one in a hundred million voice. An extremely versatile voice. But electropop dance music is not a good vehicle for letting that voice shine. Yes, he does the genre well. Yes, his vocals on these songs surpass what other pop singers are producing. But, despite the intent to make the vocals front and center, all the production, electronica, and relentless dance beat still camouflage much of the uniqueness in his voice. My Adam favorites play list on my iPod has a preponderance of pre-Idol songs, because the voice just stands on its own, beautiful and complete. So, if Adam were to make albums FOR ME, they would contain renditions of jazz and blues standards, a little bit of some of the great musical theater numbers, and new music tailored to challenging and showcasing what Adam can do better than any other singer in the world today. I know I will not get that album from Adam. I will settle for whatever he puts out. I will ooh and ahh about the vocals on Trespassing, because even in the electropop dance genre, they sound better than everything else out there in pop today. But,I admit, for me, it IS settling for less than what I truly want to hear from Adam. I hope I don't get kicked off the board for writing this. I love the man and his voice so much. I just regret that my musical preferences and Adam's are significantly different. I agree with much of what you are saying. But for me it isn''t so much because Adam isn't singing my favorite genre of music, it's because pop encourages the electro sound that somewhat masks the true voice. I absolutely LOVE Adam's new songs--because they are so smart, innovative, catchy, and powerful in whatever their message. But I do think, even my favorites songs (Shady for example), mask Adam's voice somewhat. And Adam admitted auto-tuning his voice for affect on this album. I couldn't be more excited for this album but at the same time I still sink a little in side when I think about how Adam's voice isn't 100% the focus. It's a little bit like these Fault pictures. Yeah, they are pretty, but they are not pure Adam and there's nothing better than pure Adam. No matter what the style, it is Adam's voice that I am looking for. I thank Adam for making sure there is at least one song on each album that seems to announce, "just so there's no doubt my voice, on it's own, can blow anyone's out of the water, listen to this." This time we got Underneath, a real treasure! That being said, this article is ignoring what makes an artist an artist--and that is doing what they FEEL. While you may want jazz, I may want rock, others may want hip hop, we all still want to feel Adam's soul in HIS music and he is his own compass. No doubt we will all be taken to new and breathtaking places. For those of us who just want the VOICE,maybe Adam will do another 'Acoustic live ' cd for Trespassing,in the future. OMG ,I have been on Adamtopia for 6 hours,RL is falling way behind.. see y'all later

Shape Up - 5 pound Challenge 4/25-5/15Anyone need to lose 5 pounds or more? Let's do it in 15 14 days! The Bet......You can't listen to your personal copy of Trespassing with headphones until you meet the goal. and/or you have to give $20 to Danny Gokey's charity. The Rules to WinAt anytime during the 15 days you can not weigh more than you do on your next weigh in which must be completed by tomorrow morning. At least once during the 15 days you must weigh in at the 5 pound loss. For international folk the goal is 2 kg. Check in with our regular Shape Up thread at: www.atop.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=se&thread=622&page=29#218575 Ooooh....that's torture, lol. Good one!

What an interesting day. Adam defies pigeon-holing because he makes you feel he is capable of anything and everything.
Because Adam is so talented and charismatic, there is an high opportunity cost to every choice he makes. (Opportunity cost is the sacrifice involved in choosing one thing over another thing. Example: Suppose you can go on one vacation a year, the mountains or the beach. If you choose the mountains, the beach is your opportunity cost.) What Cassie has identified is an opportunity cost.
I also prefer other types of music to contemporary pop; Adam is the outlier in my music collection. He is also my favorite artist in 30 years, because of how he sings but mostly because of who he is and what he means to me.
Nevertheless, Trespassing has what I love in music, celebration and heartbreak -- wrapped in tight pop packages. All resonate with an ardor that borders on spiritual. Even the least song on the album is better than anything Adam has recorded before. (JMO obviously).
The long-term opportunity cost is, in my opinion, probably rather small, because in all likelihood Adam has a very long career ahead of him. We are only at the very beginning of what he can and will do.
Politics .... The United States is in the midst of a cultural, technological, and social revolution that is little acknowledged by either party. There is a significant portion of the electorate that would like to get in a time machine and not have to face it. This is actually rather easy to understand. In one aspect of life or another, I think most of us have felt that way from time to time about something.
Since it's not going to work, these people are by definition on the losing side of history. Just as my old funky college town has been bulldozed away, yet I still have a happy life here ... history shows that most people will come around and a few will be left behind. Did you guys see that the federal government ruled just yesterday to extend Equal Employment Opportunity laws to transgendered people?
I also saw many gay people at the Glam Nation concert I attended, in OKC, including a bunch of drag queens. Adam has more supporters than he may know.
And ... I love the Fault magazine pictures. That suit is yummy.

mariehjo @mariehjo Reply Retweet Favorite · Open Adam Lambert interview in Swedish Magazine Vecko Revyn (in stores tmrw) adamssparklyswedes.wordpress.com/2012/04/25/adam-lambert-in-swedish-magazine-veckorevyn-no-2604-2012/ Scan by @_ninni translation by @mariehjo adamssparklyswedes.wordpress.com/2012/04/25/adam-lambert-in-swedish-magazine-veckorevyn-no-2604-2012/Adam Lambert: ”I’m a bit more grown up now” Few have missed Adam Lambert’s monster hit Whataya Want From Me and now the former American Idol contestant is about to release a new album. - This album feels so much me, he says smiling. I’m so proud of it. Adam, who came in second in American Idol in 2009, has finally been able to take his time and make an album just the way he wants it. - After American Idol I immediately went on tour and then had a month to complete my first album. One month! That’s crazy. Everything went so fast so I did the best I could. This time around I’ve had a whole year to make an album and I can really stand behind all of the songs. You couldn’t do that with your first album? - No, but now I’ve had time to write songs from my point of view and about things that have happened in my life. Personal stuff, that I hope my listeners can relate to. Like my single for example. It’s very honest and it’s about how all people have two sides to their personality, even in a relationship. And that it is very important to have a relationship with yourself and understand yourself, before you commit to a relationship with someone else. That’s the most difficult relationship of all. Do you understand yourself? - Yes, I’ve grown up a bit more now and I think that can be seen on the new album. Both the album and I are very different from the first time around. All my songs do relate to some state of mind. What’s the best thing about being you? - Being able to inspire other people. There’s so much strength in helping someone to feel better about themselves. I wish that there was more freedom for people to be themselves without being judged. Here in Scandinavia it’s more liberal but unfortunately it’s not like that everywhere and it’s my highest wish that it would be so.Just before I’m about to leave the interview Adam says: - I want to thank my Swedish fans for their support and for always having such sparkly eyes and big smiles.
