Interesting discussion. To be honest, it was never Adam's voice that won me over. Adam's voice legitimizes my admiration, lol, if that makes any sense, and adds to it, of course, but I have always liked plenty of musical performers with questionable or at the very least odd voices, so that's definitely not a requirement. What made me fall for Adam from the first moment I caught a glimpse of him performing Satisfaction on Idol as I was channel surfing (never having been a regular watcher before) was that out-of-this-world performance charisma. That ownership of his audience. Yep, I was totally owned. I found it mesmerizing. And yeah, vocal talent is a part of that charisma, but so is charm, and humor (especially humor--this is so big a part of my love for Adam), and chutzpah, and sex appeal, and poise, and intelligence, and oddness, and that it-factor--who knows where the hell it lies--that generations of ad-men have tried in vain to bottle and sell. In my mind, the spectacular voice is the tool that enables him to best spend all these other riches in his deep artistic pockets. But yeah, I fell for the performer first. So it was a really wonderful surprise to find that his own musical tastes, as a performer and as a writer, so frequently (though not infallibly, and I wouldn't have it so) matched mine. I love the pop-funk-electro-dance direction he's taken with Trespassing. I couldn't be happier. And to be honest, if Adam had put out an album full of Time for Miracles, and then another, I would not continue to stan him in such a way. I would look forward to his live performances, but I probably would eventually stop buying the recorded music. Because for me the voice itself is not enough--I'm a complete-package kind of shopper. So major props and a squeeze of sympathy to those of you hanging in despite divergent musical tastes for the love of the voice. I'm glad there is something in this wonderful man for all of us!

I have to jump in and say that I understand where the writer of the article is coming from. Sure using TFM as an example of what his music should sound like is pure WTF. But, I think she has some valid points. I love Adam's voice. I love pop music. However, NCOE is very generic pop in my eyes. It seems to me like Dr Luke makes every artists he works with have the same sound.I would love for him to work with Mark Ronson, Sam Sparrow, Ryan Tedder (again). I was thrilled to hear he worked with Pharrell. Not everyone will listen to the album. Most will listen only to the singles. I would love it if edgier songs were singles: Kickin in, Cuckoo, Trespassing.I want his singles to be songs that makes you search online for other songs from that artist. Pop music doesn't have to be the generic "let's get down in the club". It can be edgy and different: www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2rp3XAlrRowww.youtube.com/watch?v=h_lhspmjCJ4www.youtube.com/watch?v=bIEOZCcaXzEwww.youtube.com/watch?v=pwnefUaKCbcI love Adam. I want him to do his thing. I will support him and his music anyway. I want him to have longevity.

I am always surprised when people say "Adam was Rock on Idol" because in reality, he only sang 4 rock songs while he was on. Everything else was Pop. Maybe the rock (WLL) just made such a big impression? Idk.

Melliemom, Juniemoon, Kay and Cassie. I read and enjoyed all your insights above. I agree with most because I too like all genres of music. The one thing I keep telling myself is that Adam is just at the beginning of a long career. I also believe Adam is a "been there, done that" kind of guy. I just want to live long enough to be present when he explores the universe of music. I get so excited when I think of the music that voice will give us over his lifetime.

I see where you're coming from, angelkrash, and yet, not one of these songs is a hit radio song, so I'm not sure how people will check out more of the artists music if they never hear the songs. I think that's the purpose of the single. NCOE is fairly generic, especially when compared with the other songs on Trespassing, but I'm very hopeful that radio will embrace it. IMO Shady, Trespassing, Kickin' In, Pop That Lock, Chokehold, Broken English and Underneath are too good to be kept under wraps forever. I think once the album comes out they will get heard, whether as singles or through some other avenue. (ie used on TV, choreographed etc...)

It's not all about the voice for me, either. It's his performance skills, charisma, sex appeal and...yes I'll say it - LOOKS! Many people say they'd stan Adam even if he wasn't gorgeous because of his superlative voice. Not me. Nope. Sorry. *not even gonna duck cuz I've said that from day one*

www.nwherald.com/2012/04/25/preview-adam-lamberts-new-album-trespassing/aemuyen/#.T5gs0-YL3p1.twitterPreview Adam Lambert's new album, ‘Trespassing’Shady’ sounds like Maroon 5 with more edge, while ‘Kickin’ In’ is an ode to a night out — and the booze and questionable decisions that comes with it. While ‘Naked Love’ has sexy lyrics, it’s still pure radio-friendly pop with a soaring chorus and head-bopping beat. ‘Pop That Lock’ is a dance floor anthem that may have other metaphorical meanings behind the whole “lock and key” theme, if you know what we mean. ‘Broken English’ and ‘Underneath’ slow it down a bit, but Lambert’s powerful vocals let the respective midtempo and slow ballads retain their energy. ‘Chokehold’ “brings it on back” to the edgier feel of the rest of the album. ‘Outlaws of Love’ closes out ‘Trespassing’ on a slower but still compelling note. MORE Shady sounds like Maroon 5?? mmmmmmmm NO

;D www.montrealgazette.com/entertainment/movie-guide/Trust+track+second+season/6513413/story.htmlDon't Trust the B is on track for second season POSTMEDIA NEWS APRIL 25, 2012 "... - The remaining singers on American Idol (CTV, Fox, 8 p.m.) take on Queen this week, and you know what that means: A lot of strutting, shrieking and screaming, but without Adam Lambert to make it seem worthwhile. The finalists will get to perform a group medley, though, with Brian May and Roger Taylor. ..."
