Hooray for everyone that is going to this, hope you all have the best time of your lives, so far! Yes, Jimmy Kimmel comes on at 11:35pm central time in my area, and the musical guest (Adam) will be shown at the end of the show (12:00am-12:35am Friday morning). My DVR is pretty good about recording until the end of the show, but you might want to extend a few minutes longer so you don't miss anything. eta: I see mys*&@^#r's post above mine.

Where Adam gets hit the hardest in ways none of these peeps do is that many seem to feel his "image" hurts the gay community somehow. It started even before any of the controversy with Adam struggling to find the balance between being visible and being just a singer, before the fuss over his "coming out" with Perez, or his comments in Rolling Stone, or the fuckery with Out Magazine. During Idol I lost count of the number of times he was referred to as that screaming queen, Liza Minelli, Glamberace, and a thousand other put downs from his own community. And you see it now in how some gay media sites spin their often grudging coverage of him, and how their regulars comment on him. I certainly don't think all gay dudes should be required to like Adam's music. But I am often mystified by the visceral dislike that they have for him that goes beyond his music. I had no idea that there were so many moments when gay media sites criticised and attacked him that way. (I didnt watch AI8 during its run and wasnt in the US).

unapologeticallypop.blogspot.ca/2012/04/lets-talk-about-glambert.htmlWednesday, April 25, 2012 Let's Talk About GlambertIt's time for me to say a few words about Adam Lambert as the release date for his second studio album draws nearer. It's clear to everyone, fans and non-fans, that Adam Lambert is not only a superhuman singer, but a genuinely good man. Adam has always supported philanthropic causes near and dear to his heart, whether it be involvement in LGBTQ activism or raising money for clean drinking water. Outspoken, high-spirited, courageous & daring, Adam Lambert stands far apart from other POP acts who lack temerity & personality. Guided by his gift & a true moral compass, Adam delivers passionate & provocative performances other singers could only dream of. Yet, Adam is consistently under-appreciated. Why? more..

The following consists of my most likely unpopular opinions. Regarding the "gay community" resistance to a "gay popstar". First of all it is even sort of weird to me that adam comments on this since he likes to think of himself as "post gay". Secondly, I don't love/support all women pop stars because they are women. I have a gay acquaintance who does not liked Adam's music because he considers him screechy/screamy. I am more inclined to believe that Adam has just not created the right song. Hopefully Trespassing has one that will get the response. Big difference to being just ambivalent about music and attacking him on every level - from style choice, body proportions, physical issues, you name it. It is NOT just about, "Oh, gee, don't like his singling style ..." Especially because I'm willing to bet many of them have likely not paid attention. The "screechy, screamy" is a dead giveaway in in itself that they're making a lame generalization on what? Maybe a couple of performances - meanwhile totally dismissing the equally weighted (if we're talking about Idol for instance), immaculate-vocal ballads and mid-tempos. We will completely dismiss all evidence to the contrary to cling to our narrow view we've "decided" is the case. The FAULT editor's note is proof in itself that prejudice exists (whether it be for sexuality or his competition-show background), but it is also proof that people CAN open their ears, eyes and minds and realize they were taking an extremely narrow view and letting that prejudicial perspective obscure their enjoyment of a truly phenomenal talent. People can and do change.

Boy I find it irritating when writers intertwine their own agenda into their pieces. Clearly this person is projecting their own idea of what she/he thinks Adam should be singing. *sigh*

Wal - this article is a great find! It seems to really articulate the issues Adam faces in trying to be a #1 POP artist, he's just too good for POP!
Love it, thanks for posting, and everyone, this is a MUST READ article!
eta: just saw koshka's comment, different strokes for different folks! This article to me points out the many concerns by fans that Adam is just too talented to be singing pop music, his voice is just so much better.
