Random thoughts on the topic of the Vajayjays: My first reaction was "OK, they ARE different from the guys on stage, they have the vaginas" ... but then I realized Ashley wasn't included ... and then I wondered if she felt left out? ??? And then I laughed at myself for being so blasé about the name ... Just curious, when or how did we find out Adam called his singers The Vajajays? Did one of them tweet that? Anjalee, Adam announced it to the crowd during the Kimmel mini-concert, I was there and heard it.

When someone says "why don't you/they get it" or "why is this so difficult to understand" or "what is wrong with those cray-crays" you are attacking others' taste and/or intelligence. The emphasis has moved from the opinion or dissension of the speaker to the taste or intelligence of the other. I am sure that is not what was meant but it sure is what often gets heard. jmho :-) Drive-by posting again, life is too busy. Not really a bad thing, for the most part. But wanted to say that I appreciate this post, Mszue, and I agree with you. I'm someone who is intellectually prone to being very reasonable and open-minded and able to see (as well as wanting to see) all sides of an argument, and yet my EMOTIONAL responses are often very reactionary. I recognize this, and generally try not to verbalize my reactionary feelings. I often find myself feeling confused and stressed by stanning and fandom. Which is not to say that it isn't also hilarious and invigorating and joyous. Confrontation makes me really uncomfortable. I don't think that's necessarily a good thing, but I haven't yet been able to change that. I don't think I ever feel "offended". I might be hurt, or angry, or ANNOYED, but not offended. I think Adam is like that, too. I can't quite picture him being "offended" by anyone or anything. Not saying I'm like Adam! Wish I was more like him! Irish, your frank appreciation of Adam's physical beauty makes me smile. I don't think I'm that much younger than you, but I feel like a beginner at life. I envy you your apparent contentment and clarity. One thing that is apparent in life, as well as in this forum, is how much perspectives can differ. And we don't always have all the information to appreciate another's point of view. Not to mention that in my case, sometimes even *I* don't know what the hell I'm trying to say. : One thing of which some of the discussions recently reminded me is my initial reactions to Adam. First thing that drew me in was the voice. Secondly, and this is relevant to some of the recent discussions, was his sexual energy and appeal. And the third thing was his joyous performance energy. The second thing, the sexual energy, was confusing to me -- and I guess it still is in some ways. Way too late to go too far down this path, and I haven't thought this through very well, but I definitely wondered why I felt so attracted to someone who had no sexual interest in women. It was confusing and intriguing to me that I was attracted to him in spite of the lack of reciprocity. Not that Keanu Reeves, my only other adult celebrity crush (in the '90s), reciprocated my feelings, LOL. But the fantasy of that possibility was there. With Adam, it isn't -- there's only the fantasy of him with other men. And yet he's still completely sexually intriguing to me. OK, I can't keep going with this topic, and I have no idea what it all means. But one day I hope to figure it out, lol. Just not going to tell the men in my life about it!

Hmmm...don't those guys know we need information NOW! Somebody needs to tell them to 'get with the program'!! I bet it will take a couple of days to complete the video.

Catching up on the vayjayjay discussion. Y'all know I had no idea that this is their official nickname this morning when I posted? It's true. Anyway, I have had some time to catch up and have loved everyone's observations, opinions. How we refer to our most private places and how others refer to our private places is serious business. Take the word "cunt" derived from the goddess Cunti, one of the goddesses of love. Patriarchy turned the root of her name into something dirty. I am all about reclaiming the power of that word. Vagina, if you look into its Latin roots means "sheath for a sword" and indeed it's context is connected to war trophies of the Romans after raping and pillaging. I hear the female anatomy referred to in many ways as my profession exposes me to that particular body part over and over again. Most women prefer proper terms, or some private way of referring to themselves. Vayjayjay is not as uncommon as you would think. The twenty something generation seems to use it rather frequently. For myself, I prefer yoni, as its origins are not quite so violent as the word vagina. I keep it professional and use scientific terms as much as possible, but if a woman shares a slang term that she is comfortable with, I use her language. I love your informative and rational post. Heck, I love YOU.
