I just noticed that. I just got done ordering 20 copies for charities on Amazon hoping it would affect the very visible ranking. Also bought some cheaper ones for myself on B & N. I really, really hope 1st weeks sales are closer to 100K. FYE sold 198K the first week. I would hope that the first week sales for Trespassing would be more than for FYE. So where did the expectation for 100K come from? Unfortunately, I don't think there's a chance in the world Trespassing will sell as much as FYE's first week. Adam was coming off of Idol with a ton of buzz, lots and lots of AI fan pre-orders, and a Thanksgiving week debut date. 100K is very very optimistic imo. I'd be thrilled to death with 75K.

I GOT YOUR SAUSAGE @devenlane RT @cindym421: Omg you guys, Trespassing is #24 on Amazon! This morning it was #42! I just noticed that. I just got done ordering 20 copies for charities on Amazon hoping it would affect the very visible ranking. Also bought some cheaper ones for myself on B & N. I really, really hope 1st weeks sales are closer to 100K. It is great for the charities and the visible rank on Amazon while you are ordering, but my understanding is that if you buy over 5 or 7 copies total from the same online retailer it doesn't count towards the weekly sales number for Billboard. I think it gets discounted even if you buy the copies on different days. There was a long discussion about this before. I don't know if it makes a difference if you buy 5 deluxe and 5 regular editions or something like that. ETA: and of course if you set up different Amazon accounts, and just buy a few from each one you might be OK.

Thanks for letting me know.

Wanted to say thanks to Happy and her Tech Support for sharing her news and giving us the lyrics and liner notes. It was so exciting to see them. I had some major oral surgery and have been pretty heavily medicated and when Happy first posted I wasn't coordinated enough to post my thanks. (I wasn't even sure if I was actually seeing them or just imagining them!!!) I am so looking forward to hearing the entire album next week and then seeing Adam perform live 3 times in a couple of weeks It's been a long wait but it's almost over now. Your AVI is cool!! Speedy recovery with your oral surgery and have fun with Adam's concerts!! Thanks, Wal.

The 100K is a estimate that someone posted on a music forum -- Pulse Music. No source was given but it looks like an early estimate just based on expectations and history. Only one Idol alum has sold more on their second album vs. their first -- that was in 2003-2004 and was Kelly Clarkson. IF Adam sells 75K in week one in the US we should all celebrate. I will be drinking champagne. Look at Idol history and the drop from debut album to #2 is dramatic. The show is a very strong marketing platform -- and is close to impossible to sustain. There have been some real disappointing #2 albums -- but even the Idol stars have a big drop -- even Carrie. It is possible for Adam to open at >100K but surely not something anyone should expect. For perspective -- few week 1 sales for other Idol alums -- all over the place: Kelly Clarkson 2011 - Stronger - 163K Jennifer Hudson 2011 - I Remember Me - 165K Daughtry 2011 - Break the Spell - 129K Cook 2011 - This Loud Morning - 46K Archuleta 2010 - The Other Side of Down - 24K Jordin Sparks 2009 - Battlefield - 48K Carrie is the biggest seller from Idol -- The estimate for Carrie's new album is around 275K-295K for week one -- Blown Away released this week. Her last album opened with 318K. Her debut album (post Idol) sold 315K week one. She actually has a shot of beating Adam when he releases because she is so popular and her fans buy records.
