It is great for the charities and the visible rank on Amazon while you are ordering, but my understanding is that if you buy over 5 or 7 copies total from the same online retailer it doesn't count towards the weekly sales number for Billboard. I think it gets discounted even if you buy the copies on different days. There was a long discussion about this before. I don't know if it makes a difference if you buy 5 deluxe and 5 regular editions or something like that. ETA: and of course if you set up different Amazon accounts, and just buy a few from each one you might be OK. Oh crap. I wish I would have known that. :( Maybe it's not to late to change. Thanks for letting me know. Maybe you can cancel the orders since it's a presale and rebuy them? this was what was discussed earlier about multiple buying: atop.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=daily&thread=828&page=22#213879

David Cook or Kris do not receive the attention or coverage that Adam gets. Just based on some observations, a rudimentary survey, it looks like if you took 10% of the twitter followers, you can get a good idea of how much will sell in the first week. Gaga has close to 10,000,000, she sold a million the first week. Bruno Mrs couldn't be calculated as he was not an established singer yet. The same with Katy Perry. you can look at Taylor Swift and this would hold true. All numbers are estimates peeps and this is a rudimentary survey. So please don't provide precise numbers. Adam, if this survey holds true, will sell 100,000 the first week. These are my thoughts and I'm stickiing to it. but how many of Adam's followers are in the US though? If of his 1.3million followers only 70-80% are in the us that we will not see the 100K for the first week.

Seoulmate was asking about the three bonus songs being dark. Take Back is dancier -- almost the same beat as NCOE. You get to hear lots of low voice Adam in Runnin' which I like a lot. Nirvana is good too -- he really lets loose at the end.
I like the Jimmy Kimmel Naked Love -- I can see why he threw that Cyrstal Waters bit in -- the bridge on the cd is more instrumental. I think one of my favourite songs is Broken English.

Thanks so much for that link. I was able to cancel. So I think I will make a couple more Amazon accounts. Phew. I would have hated to see all that money not going toward his numbers. Thanks again.

I just noticed that. I just got done ordering 20 copies for charities on Amazon hoping it would affect the very visible ranking. Also bought some cheaper ones for myself on B & N. I really, really hope 1st weeks sales are closer to 100K. It is great for the charities and the visible rank on Amazon while you are ordering, but my understanding is that if you buy over 5 or 7 copies total from the same online retailer it doesn't count towards the weekly sales number for Billboard. ETA: and of course if you set up different Amazon accounts, and just buy a few from each one you might be OK. Different versions of the same album are combined. If it appears to an unusual sale, Soundscan will discard it. Buying 20 copies of an album will be classified as an unusual sale. But IMHO buying 20 copies of Trespassing and gifting them is awesome and it should not matter if Billboard counts it or not. It counts were it matter -- royalty calculations and for Platinum certification. If Trespassing is #1, #2 or #3 on Billbaord -- it's all good. You can't take chart rank to the bank and the label does not care. If Trespassing makes money for Sony/RCA and Adam, he gets to make lots more music!! And that is what matters. What was that Madonna told Adam....focus on the prize?

Kinda hate to see people cancelling and Trespassing losing ground and visibility on Amazon. Actually, any CD's sold will count in his total sales towards certification. ETA- I'm kinda bummed out - 75,000 for first week sales sounds so low. The music industry has changed so much in the last few years. :-/

I have a silly theory that his strong showing on Amazon and other online sites for the first album was partially due to many people being a tad freaked out by the cover of FYE. I think his in-store sales will be much stronger this time around. I really do! Don't jump on me.....I personally LOVE the FYE cover (always did) but both my husband and son said there was no way they'd have taken it to the counter to buy it for me. : My daughter even put her CD into a blank plastic case....(kinda embarrassed telling you guys this ). No one is going to have an issue with the cover this era...and I think it will catch the eye of even casual music browsers.

But I do agree, no indication that Adam will sell 100K.

This is totally just an example and has no bearing on Adam's album sales, but take the band Train for example. They have sold 950K of there last album and had a massive hit Hey Soul Sister off of it that has sold over 5 million in the US. There latest album was released a few weeks ago. They spent the week prior and the week of in Amazon Top 10. They sold 74K the first week. So I am certainly keeping my expectations in check, as I don't want to be disappointed and it takes away from the fun of having the album. Let's all hope that Adam's album catches on with the masses organically, and it just keeps selling!
