But the point is, the purpose of a tour is to get the album out there. I can't think of one single Pop star that has started their tour over a year after their album came out. And, if we look at RCA artists, it is usually about 4-5 months, from release date, which would be end of Sept. or Oct. And if we look at DMG's other major Pop star, Katy, her album came out in August and she started her tour in Feb.
What I guess I'm trying to say is that there may be a different plan for Adam because it does seem he is being promoted as an international star. Also, and I may be wrong about this but aren't most tours in the US in the spring/summer? And don't forget when he wins his Grammys everyone will want to see him.
Maybe I' a wide eyed optimist, but I don't think we have any reason to worry.I like the way you think !  |

Q3, why would his tour plan be so different than everyone else, including bigger and smaller stars? Katy and Kelly had to promote internationally too. They didn't wait a year to tour. I could see starting right after the holidays, if they need more time, but summer of 2013 seems excessively long. I think because katy and kelly aren't trying to build up an audience. Katy and Kelly's audiences are basically set. Adam is trying to build up an audience, so his tour is going to be later. ITA -- Adam is in a building mode -- he needs to build a larger fanbase. Regarding the comment about what artists "normally" do -- there is no normal. Look at Lady Gaga's tour schedule -- the Born This Way Ball is not coming to the North America until January 2013. Why wait until Summer 2013 to tour? My guess -- because the tour needs to be well planned, and sell a lot of tickets and merchandise. In North America, may of the mid-sized venues are outdoor and very profitable. In the winter, Adam would be playing theaters vs. having the potential to play amphitheaters. |

Lady Gaga needed to go away for awhile!!
Her Monster Ball Tour ended in May of 2011. Basically she toured from 2009 thru May of 2011.
She is touring Born This Way right now internationally. And unfortunately, lost the fight to play Indonesia for her fans. :( Sad!

My point was solely that there is no "normal". -- I do not understand the concern about Adam not touring until Summer 2013. There are many ways for an artist to promote an album and to make money. And Adam will perform even if he is not on an official tour. I am just glad he is talking about an Adam Lambert tour in definite terms. Most major label artists do not get to headline tours. |

Regarding earlier posts about Adam being paid for Freshtival (or radio gigs in general)...
The DJ who told me about Adam firing his sound guy said Adam got paid but did not say how much.
My advice - get a radio DJ drunk and you'll get a wealth of information. ;D
