Oricon Chart tracks PHYSICAL ALBUM SALES ONLY (per wiki) in most CD sales outlets in Japan, which means iTunes sales NOT included! :( which is a real pity 'cuz TSP has been consistently in the top 10 (currently it's out of top 10 though). Anyway, here is the weekly overall chart position for TSP on Oricon: (the week of June 4---June 10)
(So, he sold 5521 physical CDs tracked by Oricon that week and also ranked #2 in Non-Japanese CD sales chart)
For comparison, here is how FYE debuted on Oricon back in March 2010:
(It sold a bit more but so was the promo back then; this time around, he's only done print interviews thus far for Japan. I'm sure, or I hope, there will be some nice & heavy promo to tie in with his August concert dates in Japan. Also, if memory serves me right, FYE did NOT fare as well on Japan iTunes as TSP has. I wish we could at least have a somewhat educated guess on the iTunes sales figure, maybe our Japanese Atopian could shed some light. )

I'm just going to take HAC out of consideration for the time being. NCOE is a CHR song, so as long as it is increasing in spins (with double digit spincreases, at least) on this format I am not going to worry over what isn't happening on HAC. I think I will feel more positive once the song cracks top 50. I don't understand Canadian radio at all, so I won't even try to figure out what's happening there.
I think it's an important time on CHR (especially since not much is happening on HAC). So, I would say hit these requests hard.

Yikes!! The record busniess is tough! Even with a big single, look at Usher's projected sales for his debut week.
Usher may be Looking 4 Myself, but you can find the RCA R&B star at the top of the HITS album chart next week. His new album will debut at #1 with a total between 120-130k, 200k less than the first-week sales for his last album, Raymond v. Raymond, which came out Easter week in March 2010 with 329k following his mentoring appear on American Idol. That one went on to sell 1.3 million.

Very few artists are selling well..Why buy when you can download for free. Tough times in the record business. Concerts&doing ads for products seem to be the way many singers make a living. Both Madonna and Lady Gaga have practically given away their music. I was so upset when Gaga gave her last album away for almost nothing,I thought there goes what's left of the profits in the music business for singers. With all that is said and done Adam is certainly holding his own..

For keeping records' sake, I took a screen shot of Japan Billboard chart position:
According to Wiki,
"There are a variety of chart data sources in Japan, Oricon has been the major official provider since the late 1960s. They are compiled using data drawn from some 39,700 retail outlets (as of April 2011) and provide sales rankings of music CDs, DVDs, electronic games, and other entertainment products based on weekly tabulations.
Alternative charts come from SoundScan (pure sales, since 1995) and Billboard (Japan Hot 100, sales+airplay). SoundScan has also been ranking weekly album sales separately from Oricon since 1995. PhileWeb has a top 20 archive of top 20 releases dating back to March 2001, and Billboard has a top 100 archive dating back to August 2009. The PhileWeb archive ranks each separate version differently (e.g. CD+DVD pressing, CD Only pressing) and also lists sales figures, whereas the Billboard archive does not. Billboard's albums chart is exactly the same as SoundScan's."
Japan Billboard home page states their data sources, including 4100 retail stores and others, but no indication of iTunes. So, this is definitely NOT like the U.S. Billboard Chart!
Another interesting fact about Oricon, "Album sales in any given week where the album does not chart are not added to the album's sales total."

NCOE's chart positions on Japan Billboard this week: (though they used the album cover photos)
(This is based on itunes sales and 32 nationwide monitored radios airplay. So, I guess this is the chart where iTunes are counted for.)
Note to myself: this is NOT helping with your jet lag, go back to sleep!!
