What IS going on? The other artists who did these radio shows with Adam aren't having any problems getting airplay. I thought that was the purpose of doing the radio shows/tour? He's losing ground on HAC and that one Sirius station seems to be the only thing keeping him afloat on CHR, if consistently outside of the Top 50 is considered afloat. The only thing I can think of is the market research is back from the early spinners and it wasn't good.

There were radio issues with WWFM. Chicago CHR never played it, and HAC only really started spinning after the AI performance; and not for long. Cumulus was a challenge---i think RCA Ed posted about it. I know nothing, lol, but I really think RCA did some MAJOR behind the scenes dealings to get certain big markets on board early. Adam had incredible buzz, a highly anticipated debut album, and a song, FYE, that radio wasn't playing. They HAD to get WWFM on radio. The old head of RCA was a big fan of individuality ,I read, he is no longer at RCA . There is a new head honcho.. He's supposed to be good too, IMHO There was a big shake up and consolidation with other artists from JIVE ,I believe an other RCA record co. I read there was behind the scene pushing to get radio to play Adam. anyway feel free to correct me ,i'm not sure this is all factual.

In Adam's case, I think with some of these radio shows--certainly Fantabuloso-- the station feels it is doing the artist a favor by "allowing" them a position in their line-up. This concert was probably something Adam and his team secured during his radio tour last spring. It isn't a bad thing, but probably didn't guarantee him much in terms of spins. It did get him in front of a very young, radio-friendly CHR audience which was most likely why RCA pursued it for him.

I didn't mean to say that wwfm had no problems with radio, but it moved along smoothly, reached top 40 on chr by the middle of December (I think) and kept going, with some short-lived difficulty after the freeze. With a supportive label, a great song, and the right buzz, radio will play him. I don't think the difference now is RCA, and ncoe is as radio friendly as wwfm.
