Often a bert can disguise themselves as normal members of society. If you suspect someone may be a bert but are uncertain, utter the Phrase 'Adam Lambert should have won American Idol'. A true bert will not be able to stop talking for at least 5 minutes before they realize their cover has been blown. Do not be alarmed. They are excited not hostile. Disguised is right. I was getting out of the car this evening with my son, heading for the supermarket. Walking across the road I can just start to hear the sounds of NCOE on the shop's PA. It is the first time I've heard the song played on any public system, radio or otherwise. My poor son hears it at the same time and he knows I'm going to have a "moment". Without thinking, I stand still in the middle of the road with a silly grin on my face, trying to say something in my excitement. Poor son has to walk back, grab my arm and say in that teenage tone, "Calm down, mum, yes, I know it's Adam." ;D It made me ridiculously happy. I also love the way Adam says "fuck". I love the way he says it so crisply and doesn't draw out the "u" sound. It's the highlight of Cuckoo. I can't bring myself to call myself a "Glambert", so I'm not sure I could be a "bert" either, despite being living proof of the verb.

Greetings! I love this too. I love how you described the word, it also reminded me of that video that went around here about that many uses of the word fuck. ( That day when twitterland was cramming in as many fucks in a tweet as possible was hilarious. How did that start? I forget.) I would love to see a fan video describing the many uses of the word bert using that guy's voice... Bert as a noun is used to describe a fan of Adam Lambert. Some are recognizable by their love of blue eyeshadow and generous use of glitter. More recently, they may also be spotted by the wearing of the color black and yellow. They may also adorn themselves in trespassing tape. Although if they were too much they may risk being called a 'Cray' rather than a bert. "Did you see that lady wearing a ball gown made of trespassing tape? She's cray."
The are many highly regarded entertains who are consider Berts. It is not yet determined who the biggest bert among them are. Meatloaf is holding a steady lead but others include Brian May, Slash, Nancy Sinatra, Nina Garcia and Mia Farrow are still in the running. Paula Abdul is widely considered The Original Bert.
Bert can also be used as a verb.... ok I'm too lazy to keep going and I'm mixing Berts and Glambert meanings up I think. ??? If video were to happened a real writer would have to be called in obviously ;D lol - good job, Jamie! I think it should include Adam inserts too - esp his more dubious looks as those make me laugh. (the 'wut?!' or 'just no' ones ) I know you like to see Adam laugh so I include this because the Adam side-eye at blue glitter at 1:04 is great and whatever he is doing with the 'fish gasping' at 2:42 that makes MichColl laugh so hard. Also his yiddish-y 'wha?' that follows shortly afterward. Michelle Collins w Adam NewNextNow www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_s7tVAIP9YAND something like this Zac Efron spot on Entourage w/the Mom and the tween 'fan' (I wish Adam had an Ari and Lloyd protecting his interests) www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gg9lZs75qRM&feature=results_video&playnext=1&list=PL0444964BE5E0DB67

annala, you chose well how to use your time this weekend. I loved your story. As for the Mormons, the times really are a-changin'. A recent survey here at Baylor University (a Texas Baptist college) revealed the majority of students support gay marriage.
I was thinking some more about the file sharing discussion and also the earlier comment vivlite posted about how we can often lose sight of what is in front of us by focusing too narrowly on it. The file sharing is just part of what we find in our culture today, a loss of the sense of the common good. Every man for himself.
We had an embarrassing incident here in Austin over the weekend. For those who don't know, Austin prides itself on its live audiences, and on Friday the comic Dave Chappelle announced a surprise show. As many people know, Chappelle is troubled by fame and dislikes many aspects of it, so it was a rare opportunity. He announced the show in a radio interview and tickets went on sale Friday morning for a show Friday night. The venue sold out, more than 1200 tickets.
I didn't have a chance to go and I ended up being glad, because the consensus is it was more or less a disaster. Hecklers, as many as 50, showed up and dominated, catcalling throughout the show. Chappelle chose to respond rather than have them removed, and the show was more or less ruined. Whatever he had intended it to be, it never got there.
We haven't seen anything quite this bad with Adam, but certainly we all remember performances that were ruined by people screaming out and trying to make themselves the center of attention.
As fans there are so many ways to channel our energy rather than wrecking the night for others (as a drunk woman did at my GNT concert) or aggressively shouting things to try to insert ourselves into Adam's consciousness (Marry me, Adam! at moments of exquisite emotional intensity).
I see it as another reflection of the fraying of the community spirit, an "I got mine, to hell with you" Darwinism that extends even to the performer himself. I wish people would extend their energy into honing their own talents, and then come to the show with respect for the hard work of the performers who have done the same. A show full of positive energy is awesome and we have all seen the difference with Adam when he feeds off that audience and creates an experience that benefits the whole community.

Wanted to share something with you guys just because it's lovely:
This weekend I got to go to an art exhibit that included digital film works by Jeremy Blake.
These works were like moving paintings with sound and music. I googled around and found out that Blake had done the art for Beck's video "Round the Bend."
Unfortunately, I also learned that Blake took his own life a few years ago. There is bliss, grace, and sadness here -- all of what makes life worth living. Can you imagine what he could have done with Underneath?

A gift for this lovely community. It's winter here, but I think whimsical soup can be appreciated at any time of the year :

Thank you for that mirages, I almost spit coffee on my keyboard. You captured the spirit of my story perfectly. I thought about using the little keyboard coffee smiley but I will try to stick with words here. About the avis, they are very similar but easily discernible and as long as mika doesn't mind; they are both beautiful.

Thank you for the lovely soups Nikki. It is very hot here right now so I will just imagine they are a cold soup, like a lovely gazpacho or melon dish.
