IMHO Adam will bounce back and forth from organic ,to dazzling glam,to hipster,to vampire to whatever he feels like at
the time. Remember the sweet little boy's box filled with costumes, that's our Adam, the master of
change and surprise.

Maybe I'm all wet, but I see folks trying to reconcile the return to what will obviously be more a flashy look with the pretty strong statements Adam made a few months ago that his look was going organic and high fashion. That he had, in effect, outgrown something that he is now returning to. I never believed it for one minute ... thought it was marketing and that he made a good run at it ... but Adam can't be wrong, so history needs to be rewritten. People aren't sure which way to jump yet. That's all I meant. Please don't kill me. Ahh, thank you for clarifying - I see what you mean. And I should stay off the main thread when tired - I've now had some liquids to remedy dehydration. it's hot here and there hasn't been enough sleep either. Def not gonna kill you! i agree with some pts and less agree with others but all in a mild speculative way. i will admit one of the things that rubs me very much the wrong way is the smuggish Adam finally 'grew out of his make up and glitter' thinking. i'm fine with enjoying his varying looks but denigrating his more glam looks as reflective of a less mature, less 'real' personality trait has - to my ear- some unsavory underpinnings that those fans are likely not even aware are part of their thinking. on the other hand, while i know i don't actually know, i'm not inclined to ascribe his trespassing intro look as 'not adam' and just marketing. is it possible that he thought 'good marketing move to ease up on glam' - sure - he's very practical-- but he's also easily bored-- personally, I don't think it was a 'this isn't me - I'm compromising' situation -- I think it more likely he thought 'what would be a new more 'organic' yet fabulous look' and then enjoyed designing and donning that look. I also wouldn't be surprised if this was also a visceral reaction (and a smart one) to the media attempt to put him in the 'glam guy, 'flamboyant Idol' box as a something of a caricature. And sidenote: as a passionate defender of the glitter - re:the trespassing/btikm debut look and then sunrise hair - i found it absolutely gorgeous and he seemed to enjoy his own pretty too. Of course, i'm on record as being the official keeper of sleep rumpled Beanie!Adam so... (i guess that I - who look exactly the same every day - would especially enjoy seeing what he was wearing every morning. He's like an ever shifting canvas - it's such a joy.) Really only in our AdamWorld would that look - wolf hair, dramatic clothes, combed up, sunrise highlights be considered toned down or selling out:) - maybe he's trained us too well to expect the unexpected - he does make me smile I agree that anyone who thought he wouldn't again be playing in the 'bring on the makeup, big furry jackets, cod pieces' end of the spectrum (and soon) were living in a personal wish fulfillment fantasy. I guess my thought is these looks are all Adam - even the ones i don't quite get. (babble, babble on my part : ETA: Re people not sure which way to jump, that's one of the many things I like about the Garden - we don't wait, we just go ahead and jump as inspired! Or stand and admire the drop... It's all good.

Spamming!!
I wanted to respond to some earlier posts before time speeds by further so - all in one breath.
Annala, Lynne, MellieM - Thank you for sharing my ongoing love for Adam's 'Come Home' -- it always makes me think 'And you wonder why people want hugs-I'm surprised the whole club didn't follow you home.' Junie - I don't know how you missed that one but I'm glad you enjoyed it. I don't know if you're aware but it was said (I don't know if it was confirmed or strictly rumor) that Adam was considering performing 'Come Home' on Idol but... welll the story varies from there. I would like to hear him sing it again..without the clinking of plates:)
Loved the bird vid - thinking of moving to an Owl Sanctuary since carousels attract children (yikes).
Enjoyed very much Junie's Oglala posting - elements of the court jester or (wise) fool but with greater elements of healing, hmmm. Now I want to know more! (And I also want to take Lynne's class because I want to use my iPad for more than the basics and wwf but I'm frustrated in trying to figure out how to id learning apps esp.)
Unrelated comment - save the indigenous culture connection - but reminded me of the 'two spirits' element of Native American/First Nations culture. Hard to know exactly how it really was as early European writing on the encounters are tinged with both gender and sexuality biases -- and now, times have swung far enough that the filter is again colored by biases but now it's a tendency to paint a utopian, gay embracing culture while it actually appears sexuality wasn't really the issue. But it does seem that in a number of tribes a child who exhibited non gender conforming behavior was accepted as a 'two spirit' person without stressing about definitions. That's rather beautiful.
Alison - [nods] I'll sit by you and watch the show. I enjoy Adameleon as well. Fascinating, imaginative, and ever changing~

mika, appreciate all the great nuance in your post and so glad we have this place. I agree that Adam reacts very viscerally at times. The one thing you can count on is that if someone starts to pigeonhole him, he'll react. Not long ago, some article said "Adam Lambert always dresses like a mortician." Within no time the Dragon Attack coat and then the red pants were on the scene.
When I was a kid I LOVED Cher. She was like a live Barbie ... changing her clothes and look all the time. And she was so sassy. Adam's hair and fashions have the same charm for me. I'm glad they change all the time. And, LOL, I have had the same haircut since 7th grade.
Two spirits ... this idea keeps coming up, doesn't it? We're on to something.
annala, I once met a lady who had rehabilitated an albino owl. It couldn't be released into the wild so she kept it. The owl thought she was its mate and was fiercely protective. Adorable but dangerous!

Is it just me or does Adam seem more relaxed, more ZEN to you? IMHO He doesn't seem to be as worried about his career as much as he used to be.. There doesn't seem to be a frantic running from place to place,i.e. radio stations around America type thing. Of course who knows what's going on in his brain, but to me ,from outward appearances, there seems to be a calm enjoyment of all his riches.

I hadn't heard about that incident either. I'm no expert but have studied the Native Americans quite a bit. Though the details vary, it seems fairly universal among their cultures to have an acceptance of "two spirit" people (I love that language). They often seem to be viewed as people with great and mysterious spirit power. I don't romanticize Native American culture but they definitely seem one up on Western culture on this issue. One thing I love about Adam is that he helps me have a bit more courage in my own life. This week I had reason to realize that I take for granted Adam's right to break from the norm ... my big complaint is his lack of mega-commercial success. This week I learned about Ai WeiWei. I'm ashamed to say I wasn't aware of Ai or his work before; he is the artist and designer who helped design the famous Bird's Nest stadium at the Beijing Olympics, among many other works. He is also a dissident who has spoken out against the Chinese government. For this he has endured arrest, surveillance, beatings, and the shutdown of his blog. Some of Ai's sayings are simple and profound: If you don’t speak out and you don’t clear your mind, then who are you?and… Life is never guaranteed to be safe. There is a new documentary that I hope I have the chance to see: Sure puts things in perspective.

Shit, shit, shit. I just typed a long post, hit some strange key, got a screen with a bunch of computer language gibberish, and of course my post went poof. Anyone ever get that screen? Happens to me all the time now.
Short version: I've read a bit about the "two spirit" concept. There are many Native American names for it. Need to read my latest NG now. Need to do a lot of reading and watching here in the moon garden too. Looks like a lot of good stuff.
juniemoon, thanks for the Silver Fox info in the MT. I didn't know he was a rebel, just loved his music. Hmmmmm, think I'll listen to Behind Closed Doors now.
BBL.
