[raises eyebrow]
I think EVERYONE here *is* here because of Adam.
[sits crosslegged]
Different peeps react different ways. But I want everyone to appreciate that a lot of people spend an awful lot of time trying to do their best. And that time might be spent bringing the data to discuss here (which we really appreciate!!), requesting, finding the best modes to help other people request, etc, etc, etc.
This isn't a competition where one person can say "I'm a better fan because I've done x, y, z. Instead we all work SYNERGISTICALLY to help create the best fandom possible.
So to everyone feeling a bit bristle-y, to use Adam's words. "You. Yeah you two. Hug it out! Huuuuuuugggg. Yay!"
:D :D ;D ;D :D :D

[laughs] I see all you extra eyeballs looking at the Numbers Thread. [pulls out the lolly bucket] I could really use some Karmic Kremes right now, but pretty much every flavor is available tonight. ;D

My understanding is that Salon article came out before new regulations were passed and certain payola loopholes were closed. Not saying behind the scenes money doesn't play a role now, but probably not exactly the one described in that article. Here's a very brief timeline: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PayolaOn the other topics, I'll just say that personally I find it very difficult to motivate people to request and keep supporting Adam's current single on radio when most want to post-mortem and grieve, regardless of the fact that the patient isn't actually dead yet. It's the dominant narrative repeated again and again with different variations and at this point on this site making counterarguments just feels futile. But that's my problem not anyone else's, and I can usually find the numbers elsewhere.

Thanks again, Hoppers, the term "corny melodramatics" referring to Adam's beautiful music really hurt, especially coming from an Atopia thread. I could use some Karmic Kremes too

I didn't notice the date on the Salon article when I posted it. I apologize for my error.

[hands over a be-ribboned lolly] [blows rabbitrabbit a kiss] Thank you for all your efforts bb. It is truly appreciated.

This is a numbers thread, which means we also discuss and speculate on the reasons the numbers currently are what they are. Personally, I don't see how you can possibly take RCA out of the discussion.
And everyone is here for Adam. And the fandom is made up of a lot of different personalities. I will worry about what lurkers might think on MJ's or some other Idol blog. I like to think that here we can just talk honestly.

Respectfully, this is an Adam Lambert NUMBERS thread, not a thread for the critique of his music, or the performance of RCA. Perhaps that is the focus of The Dark Side Thread instead. When I see the promotion of a Casey Abrahms CD on this thread, it really makes me think the focus has been lost. We never know who is lurking on this Adam Lambert site, could be fans of NAL, Eber, or Adam himself. And in my opinion, some comments, of course not all, do become OTT. Adam supports this song, and since he knows a helluva lot more about what goes on behind the scenes than me, so do I. What? In this thread, we sometimes discuss other artists- how their songs are doing on the charts, in the past and in the present. Some like the artists we discuss and some don't. We have been doing that for over a year now and before that, in the number's thread at PF. This thread isn't just for a LIST of the numbers, but for the numbers and discussions of how they relate to Adam and what is going on with radio and the music industry in general. We've discussed the "we never know who is lurking" train of thought on this site many times in every thread. I don't post for Eber or a NAL stan. This is a fanboard. It is for fans to post their opinions and feelings. We aren't tweeting comments to Adam. If for some strange reason, Adam has time to be reading a numbers thread on a fansite at this moment, : he would expect to see varying opinions and even some criticism. Adam is a thirty year old, mature man who grew up doing theatre. He knows how to handle criticism.

[sucks on lolly while reading posts] This thread isn't just for a LIST of the numbers, but for the numbers and discussions of how they relate to Adam and what is going on with radio and the music industry in general. True. Adam is a thirty year old, mature man who grew up doing theatre. He knows how to handle criticism. That is also true, but as a mod, I'm am going to REMIND people to please make sure that criticism is not aimed at other members. Thanks.
