Ijust read the UK Radio Airplay CHart for last week, ending July 8 He's at #97 down two spins. THis is just so frustrating. Why the lack of U S radio play? I can't beleive this. it's insane.
That UK Radio Chart is based on impact (AI) not spins.
Carrie's Blown Away is #71 with only 51 spins but 12.52m impact.
Adam's NCOE is #97 with 605 spins but only 9.17m impact.
That must mean that BA is being spun by R1 or R2 and at high impact times and NCOE (which is not being spun by R1 or R2) is being spun at low impact times.
Radio experts - correct me if I'm wrong! But yes, it sucks. R1 and R2 had no hesitancy in picking up Carrie cause she's been so successful in the US. She'll either catch on or not but at least they're willing to give her a chance because of her mammoth success in the US. It's gotta be a hard sale for them with Adam since RCA has literally let 2 singles tank in the US this era and FYE went nowhere in the UK a few years ago.

I agree sage, and it's not like they are even trying to sell something different to UK radio. It's the same single that couldn't make it in the US. I just hope it works.

I remember reading that Carrie was added to R2's "C Playlist"(very limited spins) and R1 didn't add her (still hasn't). True She's very successful in the States but judging from her current positions on all the major sales outlet charts (Amazon, iTunes, HMV, play.com), she's on the downslope rapidly, or completely out of it. However, her album is doing quite nicely in Australia(#18 on ARIA this week). Maybe, the OZ is more into country...duh! of course, hello! Keith Urban!

Country definitely isn't as big of a deal in the UK in general. I noticed she's around #3 on the UK iTunes country chart but on the overall chart, I don't think I saw her in the Top 200, unless I just overlooked it. That tells you the country sales in general just don't make up a large percentage of overall sales over there. Not like they do in the US. But, at least BBC radio agreed to give her a chance on one of their stations. They haven't done that at all with Adam. I think that's primarily cause of the situation with US radio. His own country screwed him over in that department cause if you look at the top selling pop singles in the UK, the US imports are the exact same US drek dominating the US airwaves. The few exceptions seem to be their own European artists.

The UK practically breathe the same air as the US when it comes to pop music that's for sure, but BBC Radio didn't hop on board the "WWFM train" last time around either, when it was a big hit everywhere else. I genuinely believe, with UK being so saturated with both home grown artists and the US imports, IF RCA had released one of Adam's own songs(aka, "sexy & funky"...remember how cray cray those UK journalists were about "cuckoo" & "trespassing" earlier on), it would've clicked with the UK market more than "NCOE", as well as with OZ and Japan, etc. The OZ radio was more than enthusiastic last era, but this time around, the songs so far just don't connect with the masses...my 2 cents anyway.

I'm in Denver, and request daily, but the HAC station is only playing NCOE in the middle of the night (~3a or 4a). Pretty lame, but I'll keep requesting!
