How many times has Adam said he will be putting his own stamp on Queen's music? He's said it in practically every interview. That obviously includes the occasional run...because that's what he does. Brian and Roger appear more than happy. They seem almost ecstatic and they're the ones who count.
There will always be dissatisfied fans and for those that want someone more Freddie-like there's always Mark Martel.
Weeee! Just saw the Maynard Ferguson video Holst posted!

marcandrew.ca/interviews/adamlambert/Stay Connected/ Wednesday, July 04, 2012 Adam Lambert steps up as Queen frontmanThe minute Adam Lambert joined Queen on stage at the 2011 MTV European Music Awards, rumors started flying that he would be filling the massive shoes of legendary frontman Freddie Mercury. Well, it’s happening, at least for the duration of a teensy European tour that kicked off last weekend in Kiev, Ukraine. “It’s pretty crazy,” Adam grinned as we chatted in his room at the W Hotel in Montreal before he took off to Europe. “It’s a nice challenge to be on stage with legends. I’m there as their guest and I intend to go in with the utmost respect.” Adam arrived in Europe riding on the success of his sophomore album Trespassing, which debuted at #1 on the US Billboard charts upon its release in May. Adam hasn’t even toured the album yet, but didn’t think twice about setting one dream aside for another. “I’ve been so obsessed with Trespassing for the past year and a half, [the tour] will get my mind away from it for a second which will be a nice break.” more..

Is queen considered HARD ROCK? Even Freddie's voice wouldn't be well suited for "hard rock" which is like Black Sabbath or even Metalica so I'm not sure I understand the comment. In reading all your voice comments Cassie I've gotten the impression that if you had your way Adam would sing Opera or something close to it and I personally hope he never goes down that path. Hell if I know if Queen is considered HARD ROCK. It's a genre I have heard, but do not listen to. I was responding to opinions expressed about whether Adam's voice was right for Queen, or whether it was right for rock. And to opinions that have gone around since Idol, that Adam should do a rock album (Randy and Kara). As for what Adam should sing, if I had my way, I'd love to hear Adam sing opera, musical theater songs, American song book standards, and jazz. That VOICE combined with those genres would be breathtakingly good. But I acknowledge that A) Adam doesn't WANT to sing that style, B) many other folks don't want him singing those styles, and C) if Adam had stuck with those styles he would still be in the chorus in the back (lord knows why he was not given lead roles with that voice, but he wasn't) and singing in late night jazz clubs that had a maximum capacity of 24. Listening to/watching Adam sing pop and rock (or whatever you call what he is doing) is better than not experiencing him at all. He is amazing whatever he is doing, and I am thoroughly enjoying myself watching vid after vid.
