I just wanted to thank those members who bring such wonderful knowledge and insight and additional depth to our discussions, be it on vocal quality or on subjects like the 'deeper cuts' (Queen catalog) and many other topics.
And I think Adam is a big boy and he is the one in a hundred million diamond to me. I think that if you find a little spot where the polish is not perfect yet, it takes absolutely nothing away from knowing what a precious gem you have in your hand (or on stage) and I am sure we are not telling him anything he does not know. If that info gets milked negatively somewhere somehow out of context on some Queen site, then those folks wanted to do this anyhow. They probably don't like red dragon jackets either and the Ferrari will keep on flying without them, to bring it back to one of Neil's early quotes about Adam. I saw that red Ferrari flying right past all these nay-sayers today. Adam is fem (if he wants to be) and androgynous and he celebrates it, yeah girl!
And you know what? Adam is so smart. Here he does these wonderful incredible concerts all over Eastern Europe right now and the media world at least in the US is utterly ignoring what is happening. You bet, this red jacket is going to get Adam a news cycle in the US and he deserves every bit of it. Hopefully, it will reach those gossip and fashion review shows and make some noise for him. People will look up Dragon Attack, in fact we should start trending it on twitter any time now, don't you think?
So thank you for the open discussion and I hope it can continue. It makes this place so wonderful and special and worthwhile a visit.
Talon, I am catching up with the thread earlier and I am so glad you offered to help with your insight and let me tell you, I love your posts here. I thought I could go to Queen sites to brush up or learn more about Queen, but it turns out that if I sign up there I am clearly not welcome, especially as an Adam fan who knows a little, but not nearly enough about Queen.
I listened to Queen as a teenager in the 70s and then got away from it and re-discovered Queen's music about 3 years ago, triggered certainly by a few statements from Adam at the time. First discovered Muse and eventually connected back to music I had listened to in the 70s from Queen and grabbed one of the Greatest Hits albums at the store somewhere. And find that I have clearly outgrown that.
But I don't quite have the resources to just go out and buy a ton of albums at once and cannot absorb that either. So where do I start? A Night at the Opera? Or go back to the beginning to get a good historic perspective on how their work has developed?
I looked at the deep cut albums a while back, but find that a messy way to complete (or not complete) a catalog. I don't think that works for me. (just saying that because you used that expression, but not sure you were referring to these albums)
Rather want to have a certain album and dig into that phase of Queen a bit more. Where would you suggest I start.
Also, is there a place where there would be a good online Queen archive, kind of like 4msrmyn is building for us here? Any books that are really worthwhile to get a good overview. I have looked at and enjoyed the various youtube videos that tell 'the Queen story' (or the Freddie story for that matter), so I am aware of those.
So, any further direction you could give, please, that would be great. And I am sure there are others here, who will also appreciate?
Oh, and I love the Brian guitar solo you posted above. Have seen it multiple times and can't NOT click on it, whenever it gets posted by anyone here. Just love it.
