Is Sam really a token gay artist tho? It seems to me he is a gay artist who has the full support of his label and they make sure he is on the radio alot. That is the difference. Kelly Clarkson (not gay of course) is with WMG/Atlantic and she just released and went for adds this week. She is already 48CHR and 20HAC in one week. Did she get one of the every hour deals? Don't know. But WMG obviously knows how to get the music played if they want to get it played. Adam needs someone to fight for him and get his some good radio play cause as you said he cannot do it alone. Warner has supported him but it seems rather anemic to me at least in the US. Ya know ,IMHO,when there are only a handful of popular OUT gay singers and only one is from the United States.. It's very weird.. There are so many wonderful singers who happen to be gay.. They are not represented by major record companies at all. The example of Sidney Poitier He was a very safe black actor and the only one who made films for many years .. I see a pattern...I would love Warner Bros to push Adam onto radio.. He has some great songs that would be loved if heard...but there is still a great deal of fear by radio/record companies for the bottom line.. You heard it on the video and some singers have left singing to be in the background as song writers.. One being told they better not be more gay acting than Adam.. He is famous .. forgot his group.. sorry. He has become an activist and is always asking the gay community to support their own artists....Sam is a wonderful singer but he is non threatening sexually .. Adam is Elvis.. horrors ! African Americans had to fight their way to be heard and seen and if the gay community ever decides to,they will also have to fight to be heard on radio and in the movies. To add a while back MTV had a top 20 video program for new songs.. Adam's new singles that happened to make radio were usually in that top 20.

If he did not have the two times where he was a bit early and the one case where he forgot to sing a word into the microphone, it would be virtually impossible to distinguish his live vocals from the perfection of the studio recording. I have to wonder if he made the mistakes deliberately to avoid accusations of lip syncing Probably not. VERY impressive! Yep.....Just fantastic vocal performance. He really does make it look too easy! Oh! Oh! Oh! I do remember this performance in the rain! I cannot believe how gorgeous he looks. That thick lush hair. That beautiful face. That long, lean, lithe body. Do I sound a little crazy? Yes. Anyway, the vocals were stunning, too. Those Finnish fans adore him so! I know they'll love the QAL concert there. Hope Adam has another SOLO TOUR to offer them as well.

African Americans had to fight their way to be heard and seen and if the gay community ever decides to,they will also have to fight to be heard on radio and in the movies. When we talk of safe and not safe gay singers....I think that is very true but also, part of/most of what makes Adam "not safe" is that so many of his songs, especially the most catchy ones tend to focus on sex rather than the heart....Sam is relatable because he sings about emotions and the heart...Adam insists it always have sexual undertones and double-entendres...and you can do that if your are straight or female but an out gay man just can't quite get away with that just yet. Especially when they came out the gate with the AMA's....with that entrance, he left no room for listeners to mistake intentions. I suspect if he came out with a song with the catchiness of Fever or Shady that left out the sexual explicitness, he could have that hit he wants....George Michael's 'One more time" was about the heart but even Adam's beautiful Underneath had that killer 'release inside of me' to do it in with the squeamish. Not fair but how it is, it seems....

Sam is universal and romantic.. but IMO that's part of Adam's crusade and what he said so many times.. if women can be sexy why can't a gay man, he wants the freedom to be himself... He suffers the consequences of being sexual. but that's Adam ....pushing the boundaries. We're still talking about only two gay artists.. What about the other gay artists who are talented & like Sam all heart not sexually threatening and are ignored.. How many straight singers are famous in America and how many out gay singers are famous here at home???

He suffers the consequences of being sexual. but that's Adam ....pushing the boundaries Most of Adam's songs released to radio are not even sexy. His tours are but his released songs are not. Nothing overly sexy about GT or ALN. They still did not receive a boat load of play in the US. As for safe, Sam is no more safe than Sheeran, Mendes, Legend and Pugh. Nothing that different about Sam, it is just his style. They treat him like the other artists and I'm glad they do tho I am not a fan. If they had played Adam's so-called safe songs as much as the others, they would have gone up the charts as well, imo. WWFM did in the US cause it was played a lot. Even his great songs that were not released would not have done all that great if they were not played a lot. It is always going to be more difficult for the out artists. But if you have a label willing to fight to give you a good chance then you have a good chance. IMO, Adam is not some fringe gay artist on the outside looking in. He is a platinum selling, Grammy nominated major label artist and the frontman for Queen. He tours the world as a headlining solo artist and with Queen. Put a little muscle behind the man and stop with the excuses already.

Not sure how famous these are in the US, but they are doing pretty good all over the world, but have to fight hard for it as well.
