Maybe a lot of radio will do nothing for Adam in the US. But we don't know because he has not had that much since WWFM got lots of play and went 2x platinum in the US. So for me, I would love to see him get the chance. His music is better than a lot that is played so I am not believing for one minute it is because his songs are not the undeniable hits. Most of those hits are because they get played all the time and then some and not because they are these great masterpieces. My opinion only. I agree! ...and what is "undeniable hit" ? How would it be defined? Why was WWFM a hit? IMO WWFM is a boring song while FYE for example is a "much better" song but did nothing... why is SS popular? He has nasal whining delivery, a couple of songs I've heard made me want to jump off a nearest roof...why is that attractive to teens? How are his songs "undeniable hits"? IMO, WWFM is an amazing song and well worth receiving a Grammy nomination. His best song to date, IMO. I found FYE boring - just shows how diverse his fans are, I guess. But the public liked WWFM, so that says something.

loved reading this discussion. Very interesting, insightful points. I gotta ask. Why do people focus on the "release inside of me" so much...maybe I'm just not getting it but why are people taking it so graphic? I thought of emotional release...but I also thought FYE was about being an Adam fan, once you're hooked there is no getting away, and not about "getting frisky"...so what do I know?^^lol...maybe Adam should have sung "lick my lolypop" ...about being "token"...there is such a sing as "positive discrimination" On a somewhat other note. I went to a wedding on Saturday and for the first 5 minutes the priest had my sympathies before well...he said things that made my stomach twist and turn. Looking behind his cool friendly easy-going exterior were some very conservative hints. Marriage is for "man and woman", a "Christan" marriage...I know the "marriage should see fruit" part is a given but...if marriage is defined as to bring children into this world than someone like me who can't have children can't get married or what?...I didn't notice it during the wedding I went to last year and the one the year before. I know a whole different construction site. I'm also aware that the church can't change over night and I think Pope Francis is doing a great job. To sum up. It was just too much water preached and too much wine drank. That is exactly the way I read it also. Emotional. It is a very emotional song asking people to actually see him and not judge. I think because of his sexuality people sometimes automatically look for meanings that are sexual. And the unjustified freak out over FYE by some stations and fans just killed any chance for that song (before the AMA), imo. Even with Shady, I get what he was saying but I could relate to it from my college club and party days with my friends. None of us were gay that I know of. I think it would have been played with no problem if he could get radio play. But I guess because he is gay they will always go there and won't allow him to have a universal message that everyone can relate to in their own way. I remember when my radio station gave him a little radio play for IIHY. The male dj said "I cannot listen to that song without imagining him with a man." I mean really. WTF! It makes me sad. He is a whole person and an artist with a big talent. GTFU radio dj.

Look Adam Lambert is a genre all on hits own haha. SS is more safe then Adam. He's also British. American Consumers love their British artists. SS got given some great opportunities. Made a lot of mainstream music. And found success. But I don't think it helps to compare Adam. He's not SS or any other artist. He's carving out his own unique path. Theirs no way to predict or determine if Adam we'll get mainstream success in his next album. But I felt things changed after his performance on the country music awards. Seemed to start getting mainstream acceptance. Adam has seemed to move on from finding the "sound". Or getting the "hit". And seems to gone away from Top 40. So if anything I excited by that. If he releases pop/rock sorta sound. Return of Glam Rock. More retro sound. Then whatever happens, happens. Adams making a cultural impact though. That goes beyond any chart placement. Loved your last line.. "Adam is Making a cultural impact......."
