Imo, Adam has never released or performed a beautiful ballad of his own on tv. Midtempo and uptempo yes. I don't think all of his fans like the same thing. Changing things up is good and keeps all fans interested. SP is uptempo so a beautiful ballad could get a chance if SP does well. I would love to see him do a song to really showoff that voice that everyone raves about when he is singing someone else's song. Wouldn't it be wonderful to hear them say that about his own work? I love him rocking out on stage with Queen but I love when he sings a ballad as well. Not into disco so much as it never highlights his beautiful voice. Would love to see him play to his biggest strength. I don't think he will release a rock song (which I would love too) so I'm hoping for a great ballad. CTY for the win, lol. According to its wiki, "Welcome to the Show" was a power ballad. I hated that song.

The cancellations are disturbing. Unlike Adam. Hope he doesn't have pneumonia or any serious illness. My thoughts exactly. I'm so worried.

I'll have a strict evening program. At 21.45 Adams iheart radio performance starts and at 22:15 my FAVORIT german show on TV 'die Anstalt' is back from their summerbreak. I'll treat myself to some "Federweiser" or cyder i guess. I've been busy working on applications today.
OMG song association!!! My first thought was cassie will LOVE this!
lol Adam...for "sweet" i would have gone with "Seet creature" by harry sytles or "Sweet caroline", and for "up" i would have chosen...don't know the song, but "...your raise me up" or Justin Biebers "up"...oh and Abba has a song with "dream"
Ok...one thing i really have to scold Adam on: HOW could he forget "Dear future husband" by Meghan trainer, when he's (his voice) is in the same movie with her!!!
also for "down" "on or way back down to earth" by Justin bieber or "drag my down" by one direction
lol...I love this game
For "down", why didn't he sing "Runnin'"?

Not sure if this has already been posted. A review from allmusic that will be included in metacritc. Found on QOL. www.allmusic.com/album/velvet-side-a-mw0003311463The first half of a planned full album, 2019's Velvet: Side A finds former American Idol runner-up and current Queen frontman Adam Lambert embracing his '70s funk, disco, and glitter-rock influences with believable pomp and swagger. The six-track EP comes four years after Lambert's third studio album, The Original High, and features co-songwriting and production by a handful of savvy pop wizards including Tommy English, Butch Walker, Fred Ball, and others. Knowingly retro yet still modern, the songs on Velvet: Side A make the most of Lambert's persona as a modern-day glitter-pop icon. The opening "Superpower" is a slinky, bass-heavy anthem that wouldn't sound out of place on a Jamiroquai album. Similarly, "Overglow" borrows the sleek, descending synth hook from Hall & Oates' "Maneater" and marries it to an icy, neon-toned rhythm. Equally evocative, the piano-driven "Closer to You" brings to mind both Ziggy Stardust-era David Bowie and classic Freddie Mercury power balladry as Lambert moves from a breathy mid-range croon to a throaty falsetto with ease. Rounding out the EP is funked-out '80s cowbell groover "Loverboy" and the theatrical "Ready to Run," which sounds like a Sam Smith song with 100 percent more stink-face guitar, a combination that works perfectly with Lambert's winking sense of rock opera drama. What's particularly nice about Velvet: Side A is how it draws upon all of the vintage, vinyl-age aesthetics that have long informed Lambert's sound without coming off as pastiche. These are sleek songs that give you what you paid for: Lambert's powerful vocals and equally powerful personality.

Well, maybe he can ride on the coat tails of Taylor's YNTCD and it will be successful. We'll see if the Gay community rallys behind it as well as mainstream listeners. From all indications this is the one song/lead single that he was hoping would take off. I just don't want it referred to or labeled "Gay Anthem" to hinder it's more widespread appeal. Just my thoughts. Taylor's song is successful because she gets massive radio play. The same with Mackemore's "Same Love" and Gaga's "Born This Way". Haven't seen an actual gay man get that kind of reception and recognition for a "Gay Anthem." Not sure Adam will get much or any radio play for anything. It wouldn't be easy with a major label putting a little effort behind him. But without one, what are the chances? It has been so long since he has had a successful single that hopes have faded (for me). I find it hard to believe that a 4th single from Adam will suddenly be the one. Tho I would love to be wrong and see this song takeoff. And his fans will label it a "Gay Anthem" hindering it's more widespread appeal or not. But I suspect that is the label he wants. I'll just buy and stream and hope it does what the wants it to do. My expectations are not going to get crazy this time, lol. I have SUPER low expectations. Iggy Azalea's two singles on Empire did not do well and Iggy has sold far more records (48 million) than Adam prior to Empire.

More box office info! I don't understand why Washington, San Jose and Pittsburgh weren't sold out though. Washington had no tickets available for months.... San Jose at 94%?!?!? Impossible! Unless they release a section or two right before the show (like they did today) and didnโt sell it all...they showed sold out for many months! Yeah, I don't believe that. That was my show. Since I was selling several tickets on StubHub I know how much in demand those tickets were. They were much easier to sell than the tickets I sold for both LA shows.

I was glad to see Meat Loaf was there. I read that he had constant back pain since 2016 (used a walker at home), and had been having trouble performing. Probably took a lot for him to go there.

That's a great story. I have a somewhat similar one. A co-worker of mine took his family, including two teenagers, to see Bohemian Rhapsody and they loved it. He said after that, all the kids played in the house was Queen and the son went on to see the movie two more times. He plays guitar and Brian was now his hero. They then watched videos of QAL and his kids said they only liked Queen with Freddie. They also knew Adam from Idol and the entire family thought he was too over-the-top. When the concert was announced, my co-worker was hesitant but open to seeing them but the kids didn't want to go because of Adam so he would have to convince them. I told my co-worker that if his son's hero was Brian, he should go see him as you don't know how much longer they will be touring. I also said I've read comments that when you're actually at the concert and hearing the band and are surrounded by other Queen fans who are really into it, you don't really focus on the lead singer. My co-worker convinced his family and he and I both went online and bought tickets as soon as they came on sale. As I was walking out of the concert, my co-worker sent a text "Great show! ๐๐". When I got home, I asked what did his family think. He said "Everyone loved it! Thanks for helping me get the tickets." I said I was worried since they thought Adam was too over-the-top and also asked how his son liked Brian. He said "Loved it. We knew Adam would be over the top, but everyone felt he did it justice. Great tribute to Freddy, great recognition of Roger and Brian, and Adam have it his own style rather than imitating. So so good. ๐" He also said he wouldn't mind seeing the show again. My co-worker also said he bumped into another co-worker of ours on the way out of the concert. So the next day I asked him how he enjoyed the show. He said "great show! I went with my 15yr old daughter. she loved it too. She is a big fan - I was surprised she knew all the words to the songs last night! I've been a life-long queen fan and have been pretty impressed w/ Adam. Great to see those old guys getting excited to rock out with him" I torture myself daily going to Queenzone, Queenonline and Queen Facebook and reading haters' comments so it's nice to hear some Adam appreciation from six people who had never seen QAL before, and especially from the ones who were really skeptical. Nice ! Always a pleasure to read stories like theses! I stopped going to QZ completely, itโs troll central imo... I sometimes peak into QOL though and every time I leave feeling insulted for Bri and Roger , itโs the site existing their curtesy, where the participants feel free to constantly post hateful towards them remarks. The moderators are complicit... and because of all the hate the site participation is tiny despite the bandโs current popularity... Have you noticed that some of the trolls seemed to be more obsessed with Adam than a lot of his fans? Seriously, they troll the QAL threads on QZ and QOL and the Adam-only thread on QOL just to attack anyone who says anything positive about him. There's one who goes on both QZ and QOL who reads Adamtopia, other Adam sites, listens to his music, follows him in the media, solely for ammunition to bash him. She'll criticize practically everything he sings, says, does, or wears, even if Freddie did something comparable or worse. It's really sick. I know she's seething right now because I know she's reading this. LOL.

I'll share how I worked on my mom re: this Freddie vs Adam thing. She was a huge fan back in the day. Very much like Adam (were close in age) I was introduced to Queen by my parents. So, obviously to her Queen equaled Freddie. I took her to see the Bohemian Rhapsody a few weeks after it was released last year and that re-ignited her love for the band. Then when the tour was announced, she asked me how that worked and who their "new" singer was. So I gave her the brief background and plated some of the QAL footage on YouTube for her. She was like: "Yeah, no, it's not the same. I don't like it.". I was like, cool, no problem. Then I decided to try some reverse psychology and started playing Adam's solo music whenever we'd be in the car together. She was intrigued, soon started singing along soon enough. She fell in love with Adam's voice. So when he asked me who this talented person was I was and why she'd not heard his songs before I was like: "Well, he does have a solo career but doesn't put out solo albums all that often since he also sings with Queen". HA! Haha, gotcha! She went to the Toronto concert two weeks ago and had a blast. She sat with my friend who reported back to me that she was singing and dancing the entire time. Last week she was late for an appointment because she got too deep into the Rhapsody Tour YouTube rabbit hole. So to sum it all up, the law of original connections is stronger to break for some more than others. What did the trick for mama bear was getting familiar with Adam's voice outside the context of Queen. That's a great story. I have a somewhat similar one. Just noticed that Rotten Tomatoes rating for Playmobil is only 22% with 18 critic reviews. How disappointing.
