Here's the sales numbers: Trespassing - 7,107 NCOE - 16,060
It was a really low sales week for albums - the #1 only sold 16k.
This is encouraging in terms of singles in the UK: Florence and the Machine had her first number 1 single this week with her 5th single from this album and it way outsold the previous ones. The previous four peaked at 24, 12, 50 and 84. Their respective airplay peaks were 71, 36, 29 and 35.

That is definitely encouraging. Not abandoning all hope.

?? WILL THERE BE A THIRD SINGLE?
Let's see... I've heard it takes $1 million to promo an album. COrrect??? or is it $1 M for promo on a single?
He's only sold approx. 133, 000 albums. Does anyone know the number of CD that would put him in the black? Is is 100,000 , 250,000 or 500,00 to cover expenses, etc.
SInce the first two singles went not successful, will RCA take the chance and put out more $$$ for another single?
I won't take into account his international sales since I'm sure that is on a separate budget line.
Or will they just release another single, hopefully, CUCKOO, (cause I think that's their best shot which tweenies would like) and take a chance that PD's will add, or will they decided to invest more $$$$ and put full backing into a new single?
It's a business, so what do you think RCA will do?

This one is selling because it's the Calvin Harris remix really. And it was the most played song on Radio 1 last week. There will definitely, definitely be another single in the UK.

Since we're asking "What next" what do you think of this from twitter? I'm sure saga doesn't mind if I post it here as she posts here occasionally.

Well, he'd have to seek non-mainstream ways for success.
He needs to build up a fanbase outside radio. He can do it throught Queen or something like a tour others,
I mean this is what I would do. Work on Queen tour and a tour with SS/Gossip/Sparro. Work from underground up. Get a good band.
It's not a way to chart, but its a way to sustain a career and gain a fanbase outside mainstream.
MY WORDS: After the high of the Queen concerts it's depressing as hell to face the reality of radio/sales again. This is probably what he'll do if he doesn't get idol and if Trespassing doesn't succeed immediately in the UK. There are also other ways to success--get your music into commercials, for instance. I don't see him touring alone for Trespassing as things stand now. A vehicle that gives him huge exposure, like Idol, could help him out a lot.

This is why I really think he NEEDS something like Idol at this point. Without radio support, his solo career is basically at a standstill. The stupid AI gig could get him more exposure and acceptance than a #1 album and Queen combined. It could also get him TV and even award show opportunities for his songs that he just isn't going to get now.
Queen is great, and a big show in the US that gets media attention (where has RS been in all of this? I thought for sure they would bite at the Queen stuff) could also help. But, unless he gets dropped from RCA (don't see it) I don't want to see months devoted to a Queen tour or collaboration.
And, if AI doesn't happen and Trespassing doesn't happen, maybe DMG would try the Katherine McVee route of looking at TV/movies.
My dream would be he gets the Idol gig, and they are somehow able to re-issue Trespassing in the Fall, maybe with something new (collab, duet, whatever). It is too good an album to just drop and start something new.

Well we all have our ideas of what he could or should do now. I'm sure the TPTB are brainstorming too if they want to recoup their investment. But I judge the future by the past and their past with this era has been weak. And I'm being kind when I say "weak".

It would make things convenient for him if he did. It's still a rumor, and I'm not counting on it.

I'm not counting on it either, actually. I'm kind of less optimistic with each passing day, lol. I just think it might make things easier for him---but, then again, nothing has really worked out this era the why I thought it would. And nothing has been easy.
He'll keep plugging away, regardless I know. It must be so frustrating for all involved.
