Not sure on this, as I have no credible source, but it's on twitter Chloe. Or Lisa. þ@RadioChloe FFS. LOL. RT @bdwaydiva1: Oh God. Florida is now in a recount. Obama won by 0.5% Perhaps. But it doesn't matter, Obama won without them. Florida's Secretary of State might waste the states money on a recount but Reuters reported 2 hours ago, MIAMI (Reuters) - Final election results from Florida's Miami-Dade County, which accounts for about 10 percent of the crucial swing state's registered voters, will not be available until Wednesday afternoon, a senior election official announced late on Tuesday.
Miami-Dade Supervisor of Elections Penelope Townsley told reporters the delay was due to "an extremely high volume of absentee ballots in this election" and because a handful of precincts had voters still casting ballots after 10 p.m. EST (0300 GMT Wednesday). So I guess we should wait until then. ETA: I just checked Florida law and they are required to recount if the vote count is 0.5% or less.

Cheeks @gocheeksgo
Look at it this way, Tea Baggers. Wins for equality expedite the "end times," so Jesus will come whisk you away sooner! You're welcome.

I don't think Obama is as centrist as Clinton was but he did what he needed to do to get the country moving forward again with as little damage as possible from a fiscal perspective. It is this which makes me happiest. Just knowing that he will choose the next justices and I can breathe easier. Obama is not a centrist when it comes to social issues; immigration, choice, equality, education and on these issues which are more about quality of life than quantity of rich men's pockets, we dodged a very dangerous (in my opinion) bullet. I look forward to the next four years and I think the Congressional Republicans will see the spine that Obama has shown in foreign policy. It should be good. Interesting article, Linda. It's true that Obama was struggling like mad in the first term to pass ideas that were part of mainstream Republican policy only ten or fifteen years ago. Crazy. Of course, he's done more than that, too (progressives have tried and failed to pass healthcare for decades), and in some ways is far more radical than this discussion makes him seem. I read an excellent article recently defending Obama's progressive record, and the significance of his accomplishments. The nut graph: "Obama’s résumé of accomplishments is broad and deep, running the gamut from economic to social to foreign policy. The general thrust of his reforms, especially in economic policy, has been a combination of politically radical and ideologically moderate. The combination has confused liberals into thinking of Obamaism as a series of sad half-measures, and conservatives to deem it socialism, but the truth is neither. Obama’s agenda has generally hewed to the consensus of mainstream economists and policy experts. What makes the agenda radical is that, historically, vast realms of policy had been shaped by special interests for their own benefit. Plans to rationalize those things, to write laws that make sense, molder on think-tank shelves for years, even generations. They are often boring. But then Obama, in a frenetic burst of activity, made many of them happen all at once." This strikes me as right. And it is a large part of why I am very happy this morning. I haven't even looked at this thread. I have been pretty much working as close to full time as possible for Obama here in the battleground of Southeast Florida since September. It is one of my ways of keeping sane these past weeks. I have only peeked in now and again on the main list as Adam is one of the other ways I stay sane. I really needed that performance the other night and had him on my iPad so I could listen to that velvet voice when I woke in the night and needed to calm down. Though I have worked some on campaigns, I have never had this level of involvement and it has been a huge privilege to be part of Obama's team. The people working for him are amazing and they have poured their heart and soul into the very grinding job of a presidential election. I don't know what tomorrow will bring for Florida other than lawsuits but I am going to be into the fray again giving it all I can. Whatever happens, I will be able to look in the mirror and say I did my best for our amazing President Obama. I so long to call him that for the next four years. To Theosgma and all Atopers who worked so tirelessly on this campaign - you are one of the main reasons this campaign worked - the grass roots effort - many thanks to all of you! It's a new dawn, a new day, and I'm feelin' good!

Minnesota voted Obama and against the ammendment banning same sex marriage but district 6 still voted for Bachmann (although by only a couple thousand votes, much less than expected earlier in the race) for a few reasons. Bachmann had 11 million dollars more than Graves, who largely funded his campaign. She started with massive name recognition to begin with. The districts were recently redrawn making it mostly a conservative rural district. You can read more about it here if you want. I live a block into her district. If I could move a few streets over I would. I'll keep it civil about how I feel about her and say nothing more.... minnesota.publicradio.org/display/web/2012/11/06/politics/sixth-district-bachmann-graves/Eta Minnesota is an odd state. Very progrssive but also very religious and nondiverse. The twin cities are big but other than that its rural.

I am so impressed with Minnesota. They voted to throw the constitutional amendment out that would allow one man and one woman to marry. Three other states approved marriage equality. The country is getting smarter. Legalizing pot. I never thought I would live long enough to see that. I am so happy Obama won. I am so happy there is an openly lesbian senator. I love Obama and Michelle almost as much as I love Adam and Sauli.
