Don't live in US and wasn't allowed to vote there when I did (despite paying taxes etc but that is a topic for another time). I get the yelling at inanimate objects - I find the mute button was my friend when I lived in US and remains so here in Australia where we have idiot politicians too.
Big difference here is that you have to vote - is mandatory and our Westminster system of govt means campaigns are somewhat different (big difference you elect the party by electing your local federal representative not prime minister aka president).
We only have a 23 million total population so not usually major voting delays except in the bigger cities and even then the longest I have ever waited to vote is about 30 minutes - pretty much every suburb in every city and every town has a voting place as well as postal votes so goes quite smoothly.
Oh and the graphy Adam sent out is about right Oz is firmly in Obama column (we just don't understand the appeal of the right wing extreme religious stuff at all).

Random analysis on why Obama will win .... So on the Washington Post they have an app where you can choose who you vote for and why. The reason must fit on a campaign button. apps.washingtonpost.com/politics/i-voted/home/?hpid=z3So I was looking at these buttons and noticed that all the Obama buttons had his picture on them and all the Romney buttons just said Romney 2012. I thought it curious that the two buttons were not the same and so I investigated further and found you could choose which button you wanted and then I went to the See All page and found something fascinating. At that time there were 139 Obama buttons and 47 Romney buttons. Of course it is great that there were so many more Obama but that is not what is fascinating. Of the 47 Romney buttons, only 3 or 6.4% had Romney's picture on them and of the 139 Obama buttons, 118 had his picture or 84.9%. Here is a sample screenshot. From this I conclude that Democrats are voting FOR Obama but Republicans are voting Republican. I believe that in the former case, voters will be more likely to turn out for their party and Obama will win by a larger than expected majority. Not scientific but interesting, don't you think.

[/IMG] I hear is leading for now, but by how much? P.S. Awww, Spain: instagram.com/p/RsxAkBkaI-/
There really won't be anything conclusive or exciting until after the polls close starting at 7:00 pm Eastern and also no single site to watch returns. A little bit of exit polling is done primarily to discover the most important factors why people voted as they did. So it is going to be a long day.

OK, I love hearing the mood in Ohio and Florida.... that people are pissed off and sort of fired up about things. My son and I were watching the debacle re. early voting in Florida, with the lineups that had people standing there for hours and hours and hours and the piece-of-shit Rick Scott refusing to do anything about it, and we just kept looking at each other and going WTF? Yes, we're up north in Canada, but we've never heard of such a thing. EVER. ooops... sorry for not being respectful towards Rick Scott. Oh he did something about it - this disgraceful crook who passes for a gov cut our early voting days from 14 to 8 and drastically cut the polling venues and hours as well - especially in minority districts. He arranged it so that the remaining open venues were at least 30 miles from where concentrations of minorities live. This crook deserves no respect. I'm so glad that his dirty tactics resulted in voters fired up and determined to vote anyway - in spite of distance and 3-4-5-6+ hour lines. Former gov Christie Whitman said that she has monitored elections around the world, and this FL debacle reminds her of third-world-country voting. >:(

I don't know if it means anything at all, but most of the day so far various forms of encouragement like #Obama2012 or #VoteObama have been trending on Twitter, while I haven't seen any Romney trends.
7-11 stores have a coffee poll in which people buy their coffee in either a red cup (for Romney) or a blue cup (for Obama), and Obama is winning 59% to 41%. A beer company had a similar poll with similar results. Last week on David Letterman's show, he asked the audience who was voting for Romney and who was voting for Obama, and I swear there were about six people clapping for Romney and everyone else clapping for Obama. It was such a stark contrast that Dave joked, "Sounds about even."
None of this is scientific of course, but it gives me hope, because I haven't seen a single one of these polls swing Romney's way!

Chrysler in Ohio gave all workers the day off to go and vote. You know their vote is for Obama.

By the way, I think Rachel Maddow is a goddess. I love how excited she is about the entire election process--she's my favorite smarty-pants TV host (and one of the few I can stand anymore). She had a really cute segment at the end of her show tonight about the supplies you will need for election night, including pasta (to carbo load for energy and long nights) and lots of water and red bull. Funny. I love her too! Watch her everyday! Me Too! I love her show and she comes across as trying to be factual and not just sensationalizing everything. I watched the Obama speech last night and had tears in my eyes - apparently he shed a slight tear too:-) and I just can't imagine our country two years down the road when Mitt and the Coke brothers et al get a hold of the reins together with the Bush guys who are still there in the background. Really, that a person who outright lies could pull the wool over so many eyes and get elected is sad commentary on our system. It also highlights that the elections any more can be bought with the group who has the best marketing to those who don't do any homework wins the roost is sickening, IMHO. An independent, but in this election I want someone who at least tries to be as truthful as any politician these days is, and seems to actually care about "we the people"...
