It seems to me what Adam is saying is: - There is a lot of crap that teenagers face, that we all go through, and labeling all of it "bullying" desensitizes us to the real bullying that goes on. - Making bullies take responsibility for their actions is important, but it is also important to give victims tools of self-powerment so that even the milder forms of bullying don't lead to despair. Learning how to cope with bullying could save kids' lives. - Bullying doesn't just happen to teens -- even Adam has to deal with it. I agree with him, but Twitter is a damn difficult way to have a profound discussion. Too easy to misunderstand what is going on. Sigh. That's the one thing I didn't see him say today. Which tweet was that one? #Confused

Madiscoots @scootachu @adamlambert you're disappointing a lot of people right now. shaking my head. Adam Lambert @adamlambert@scootachu my point is that this bullying issue shouldn't be as conditional as it secretly is. We should be nice to each other. ALL of us This tweet makes me think the comments re K$sha ticked him off...we know he's pretty loyal and the "conditional" sounds as if just because you have "made it" as a celeb doesn't make it ok to be bullied.

Seriously, he doesn't know what he's talking about. So he had no friends and he had to sit alone at lunch. I understand how bad that is, but that's not bullying. Petty bullshit is not bullying. Please, Adam, stop. Sorry but I completely disagree. Adam is talking about kids who are alone and therefore easy prey for bullies and he has EVERY RIGHT to say what he's saying and he's 100% right. Kids need to find support systems that help them during what is for EVERY KID a difficult transition from childhood to adulthood. Even bullies are bullied by someone at some point. His point is that bullying comes from a PETTY place. Obviously if someone is physically harming you you can't ignore that but if someone calls you names or generally tries to make you feel like an outcast, ignore them. Giving them a reaction is exactly what they want. It's where their power comes from. as an aside I'm honestly SO tired of fans telling Adam to shut up.

Adam Lambert @adamlambert
Back to the original point, I simply wish we'd focus more energy on the victims' empowerment versus labeling anyone whos negative as a bully

ALL of us Geez, from the way some people are reacting, you'd think Adam came out IN FAVOR of bullying. [/IMG]
Looks like he's loosing some followers :dunno:

At no point has he said that ALL bullying should be just dismissed. But let's face it, there are a lot of instances of "bullying" that is typical childhood bs that people tend to overreact to. The problem is distinguishing between them.
I say this from the perspective of someone who was bullied. I was pushed into lockers, and had stuff thrown at me. Chased and threatened, harassed, had clothes ruined and personal effects broken or stolen. However, we now do tend to take things too far at times, and foster a "victim" society.
It's a complex issue that can't be discussed with expectations of a black and white solution.

FINALLY, Adam!
I wish he had thought about how to say it before he posted his first tweet.
All people being negative aren't bullies!!! I agree!!! That's the separation he should have made between a victim of real bullying and someone who's affected by negativity merely because they need a little more confidence.
Different situations!!!
