Thanks, maddie! Oddly enough or maybe not so odd considering my knowledge of the music business, RCA is the only name I would recognize. Why UMG, which looks like a sound you would make in disgust.
UMG is the largest of the big 3 music companies in the world, you might be unfamiliar with the name UMG, but you must have heard of "Interscope", which is one of many many record labels under UMG and the one that I would very much like Adam to sign on with. Interscope is home to who's who in the biz from Gaga to Emenim (not to undermine SME's roster), and current label for the AI hopefuls. And, why Interscope (UMG)? without my usual mumbo jumbo of numbers & facts, I'll just say this: Interscope is "young & edgy" and RCA is "old & laid-back (not in a good way)"; and yes, UMG can play "dirty" at times, but they get the job done! Another thing about UMG, Barry Weiss is the CEO of UMG and he knows Adam, so it's very possible that he will take him back from Sony/RCA ;D

Thanks Guys- Sorry for my negativity. From now on, I will keep my worries to myself and just enjoy the ride. 8-) I didn't see negativity. I saw concern and a need to understand what is going on and what it means. That's not negative. Don't keep it to yourself because others of us have the same concerns. Ohh...Thank You...

So Barry Weiss is the CEO of UMG? How did I not know this??? He was a HUGE Adam supporter at RCA, and I hated when he left.

So people are saying that 19R doesn't do anything but take a cut of recording $$. Can anyone tell me (us) why they exist? They must do a little bit of something. How does the freedom from 19R affect Adam other than $$? Do they make decisions about the music? I don't understand.
:dunno:

[/IMG]
I don't get how it all works, but what is significant to me is that they are tightly connected to RCA. Everyone with 19R is also with RCA. ETA---Regarding Barry Weiss, he just seemed to "get" Adam.

ETA---Regarding Barry Weiss, he just seemed to "get" Adam.
No, only those who were signed through Idol prior to Season 10 have an affiliation with RCA. All the 10 and 11s with contracts are with 19R too.

Adam will be just fine..... Sooner or later he will record the single that will resonate with the planet and his radio success will come from the masses wanting to hear his music. We'll be able to say "we knew him when". Some things just take time -- he's coming at the world from a totally different direction -- they all have to catch up. Meanwhile, he's doing exactly what he wants -- performing, recording, creating. He's a very happy man. (imo)
