One Direction Blasts Onto Hot 100 at No. 2, Robin Thicke Still No. 1 Robin Thicke posts an eighth week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with "Blurred Lines" (featuring T.I. and Pharrell). Meanwhile, One Direction's "Best Song Ever" blasts onto the chart at No. 2, aptly marking the boy band's best chart rank ever."Lines" continues to lead thanks, in part, to notable airplay that remains on the rise. The song wins the Hot 100's top Airplay Gainer award for a record-extending ninth week (all in a row). Seven songs had previously racked seven weeks (consecutive or not) of claiming the nod dating to its 1985 start. "Lines" leads Radio Songs for a fourth week, gaining by 5% to 207.4 million all-format audience impressions, according to Nielsen BDS. Dating to the chart's December 1990 bow, the song has logged the second-highest weekly audience: 212.2 million, "We Belong Together," Mariah Carey (July 9, 2005) 207.4 million, "Blurred Lines," Robin Thicke (featuring T.I. + Pharrell) (Aug. 10, 2013) 196.3 million, "Irreplaceable," Beyonce (Jan. 20, 2007) 192.4 million, "No One," Alicia Keys (Dec. 22, 2007) 189.6 million, "Let Me Love You," Mario (Feb. 5, 2005) Dethroned by One Direction's new "Song," "Lines" drops 1-2 on Digital Songs after spending eight weeks on top. It sold 312,000 downloads (down 8%) in the Nielsen SoundScan tracking week. Still, "Lines" posts a fourth week atop the subscription services-based On-Demand Songs chart (1.9 million U.S. streams, down 28%, according to BDS). It dips 2-3 on Streaming Songs (6.9 million, down less that 1%), while tallying an eighth week at No. 1 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and an 11th frame atop R&B Songs. "Song" becomes One Direction's second Digital Songs No. 1, starting with 322,000 downloads sold, the biggest debut for a title this year. It's the best sum since Taylor Swift's "I Knew You Were Trouble." began with 416,000 (Oct. 27, 2012). "Song" grants One Direction its second-largest sales week; "Live While We're Young" sold 341,000 when it launched at No. 1 on the Oct. 20, 2012, Digital Songs chart. "Song" roars onto Streaming Songs at No. 2 with 7.9 million U.S. streams in its first full week (following its July 22 posting). Of those plays, 94% stem from VEVO on YouTube. The track has yet to reach Radio Songs, although it increases by 52% to 11 million in audience, fueled by a 40-32 vault on the mainstream top 40-based Pop Songs airplay chart. ****************************** ****************************** For the complete article, go to www.billboard.com/articles/news/5344492/one-direction-blasts-onto-hot-100-at-no-2-robin-thicke-still-no-1

BONNIE BANKS: The sole debut in this week's Vibe-Raters round-up is Kemosabe/Epic's Bonnie McKee. With the infectious American Girl, McKee who's penned and/or co-penned songs for the likes of Katy Perry, Britney Spears, Taio Cruz, Christina Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson and Carly Rae Jepsen, among others, garnering eight #1s and 25m+ track sales steps out as an artist with big early gains at Pop radio. She's earned 1.2m VEVO views for the track's video (with another 1.1m for the star-studded lip-dub clip); add MTV Hits, Fuse, a VH1 new piece and an upcoming Good Morning America appearance and it seems McKee's face is pretty much everywhere. Girl is also #7 in Shazam searches. ========================================================= ========================================================= TOP 10 TRACKS: Robin Thicke once again sold north of 300k, but the mega-smash was bumped from the top perch by the wildly popular One Direction, whose Best Song Ever looks massive from the getgo. Another debut from Nickelodeon starlet Ariana Grande joined the big boys and girls during an otherwise down sales week. 1. One Direction, Best Song Ever 322k 2. Robin Thicke, Blurred Lines 312k 3. Miley Cyrus, We Can't Stop 191k 4. Jay Z f/Justin Timberlake, Holy Grail 160k 5. Imagine Dragons, Radioactive 159k 6. Ariana Grande, Baby I 141k 7. Florida Georgia Line, Cruise 119k 8. Daft Punk f/Pharrell, Get Lucky 114k 9. Bruno Mars, Treasure 110k 10. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Same Love 105k Two other records are charging toward the leaders: the exploding Beneath Your Beautiful from RCA's Labrinth featuring Emeli Sand, which rockets from #50 to #13, selling 92k (+176%), and right behind it the debuting Burn from Interscope's Ellie Goulding, with 82k. source: www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/rumormill.cgi

Anyone interested in how Avicii's first big single in the US is doing? It went for Top 40 adds today and got 25. Counting Canada, it already has 100 adds across 4 formats: Top 40, Rythmic, Triple A, and Alternative Also, it was #16 on i-tunes yesterday and was #11 today. Should go Top 10 soon and that should make next week's adds even better. On Top 40 radio charts, it is #46 Wake Me Up is #5 on iTunes at the moment! It has peaked at #1 in 13 countries, mostly in Europe, and reached the top 10 in 8 other countries. And, what really excites me is how fantastic it is performing in the UK, particularly: " In the United Kingdom "Wake Me Up!" sold 88,000 copies in its first day on sale. According to The Official Charts Company the song is predicted to become the fastest-selling single of 2013. It was reported on July 21, 2013 that "Wake Me Up" had reached number one, becoming the fastest selling single of 2013 so far, selling 267,000 copies." We all know U.K. has been a tough nut to crack for Adam, so I'm really hoping there will be more of this kind of collab projects in store, 'cuz it might just be what he needs to help knock down the walls, as well as being exposed to a whole new and much needed audience worldwide. Fingers crossed that Lay Me Down will be the next single!

Avicii Wake me up at the moment number one in 18 countries, number two in Canada and Greece, number four in the US (and not on the chart in Japan). I'm looking this www.apple.com/euro/itunes/charts/top10songs.html It looks good for Avicii but of course, we would be more interested in album sales as Adam is a part of it. (The pre-orders have kicked in only in Finland so far, number three yesterday and earlier today, not top 10 anymore.)

The peak positions I was referring above were official weekly charts like Billboard Hot 100, not iTunes, so thank you for the updates on iTunes! Album sales = money for Adam but if Lay Me Down (as rumor suggested) becomes the next single, then it would serve Adam the best interest, IMO.

Hi, maddie! *waves* The board is not working properly (for me atm) and I've been updating and rebooting etc. I was about to edit my post to point out that it's iTunes chart which I saw on twitter yesterday - I'm glad that you picked that up from the link That chart changes quickly and I brought it up only to express interest. Exciting times seeing if Lay me down will be a single or not. I sure would hope so but even if it won't happen I do welcome this kind of collaboration, the more so with songwriting credit. I assume house music fans are mostly interested in beats and dancing party but surely some of them will pay attention to the singer too. If nothing else I should think this will bring some credit as a musician and expands his connections among the pros. I don't remember if the screencap from BMI was posted but there were two other songs registered, one of them with Bonnie McKee and her team. Maybe, just maybe, there will be more collaborations to come - and for us to follow their success...

On a personal note, watching Avicii's live vids really makes me nostalgic for my wild party days...

Just because checking the iTunes chart is a welcome distraction for me and I brought it up earlier I'll continue a little bit. Sometime last night / this morning on iTunes overall chart 'Wake me up' climbed to nr 3 in the US (Greece nr 2 and not charted in Japan) - that was the best performance for it that I have seen: nr 1 in 19 countries. (... and the album re-appeared at nr 2 in Finland) At the moment, US nr 4 and UK nr 2 with Miley Cyrus getting ahead of WMU in both charts, Greece nr 3 while nr 1 still in all other18 countries (except for Japan). However, on dance chart the song is nr 1 in ALL the 22 countries listed (also in Japan). If you read this soon this link might let you see the overall domination at the moment www.apple.com/euro/itunes/charts/top10dancesongs.html (sorry but to make it 'permanent' I would need to post 5 screencaps which I think is too much)
