I posted on yesterday's news thread that I have been watching NCOE's video views because I am always surprised that it has done as well as it has because it had so little in the way of promo, radio and sales. In the last 5 days gains in daily views have been 16,968, 16,628, 17,749, 15,097 and 19,160 bringing it to a grand total this morning of 16,264,284. I know it is a very far cry from the mega numbers big hits get, but they all have really massive airplay and sales. It is obvious that someone is watching that video more than us his hard core fans. We at Atop are trying to boost up Trespassing's views and it moves around 3,300 a day. Someone pointed out that NCOE is popular in Asia and I wondered if these views are being helped by Asia. Are Asian views counted on US youtube?

The view counts we see on YouTube are total worldwide numbers but YouTube only reports the US view counts to Billboard for Hot 100 chart rankings (same thing with Vevo, Spotify and other valid digital streaming services), which is a good thing in a way, in addition to the true reflection of country based charts, 'cuz otherwise an atrocious song like "Gentleman" would have had a much higher position on the Chart: :D " Ben Sisario of The New York Times wrote that the reason why "Gentleman" wasn't a shoo-in for number one was that even though Billboard had incorporated YouTube views and Spotify into its Hot 100 chart, only streams in the United States would count towards the chart. The week after, the song dropped to number 26 on the Billboard Hot 100. "

Maddie, I might be wrong but I don't think Jean cared about BB or radio charts. She was just wondering why the view count is so high & if it was US or worldwide views.

I was trying to say the view counts that the general public sees on YouTube (from anywhere) are total worldwide numbers, not just from US. I don't think the general public can view YouTube counts by country...or can we? But, you're right I could have done it without going into another subject --- BB Hot 100 where only the US views would be counted towards, which wasn't the topic of Jean's interest. ETA: The nice increase on the NCOE YouTube view counts could be from anywhere in the world, likely parts of Asia (YouTube is banned in China they have their own Youku, and the song didn't fare well in Japan but much better in Southeast Asia), or Northern Europe, or down under, or maybe....the US!

I forgot to add an apology to my last post. Sorry, Jean, I missed your post by a mile, apparently. Plz disregard my ramblings.

Thanks Maddie for all the great info.. always wondered what happened to the game Adam endorsed in Asia.. Wonder if that was lucrative. You mean RIFT, the multiplayer online game deal in China? Yes! It was reportedly quite lucrative. In addition to that, Adam has made a lot of dough in China in private gigs, appearances, and the Shanghai concert, he could have made even more this year had he not turned down certain offers 'cuz of his schedule.
