Robin Thicke Leads Hot 100 For 10th Week, Katy Perry's 'Roar' Debuts Robin Thicke claims an elite 10th week at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with "Blurred Lines" (featuring T.I. and Pharrell). Meanwhile, Katy Perry provides a sneak peek at the battle expected next week when "Roar," which debuts this week at No. 85, and Lady Gaga's "Applause," which will bow next week, will challenge Thicke for the summit.Ahead of next week's likely shakeup thanks to Perry and Gaga (keep reading for details), the Hot 100's entire top 10 remains in place from last week, with "Lines" boasting a two-to-one overall chart points lead over Miley Cyrus' "We Can't Stop," which banks a third nonconsecutive week at No. 2. ("Lines" loses 10% of its points total from last week, while "Stop" declines by 6%.) ********************* ********************* As for Perry and Gaga: the former's "Roar" dents the Hot 100 at No. 85 thanks solely to almost four days of airplay. (As previously noted, its expected lofty first-week sales, as well as streaming, will count toward next week's Hot 100.) "Roar" bounds on to Radio Songs at No. 29 with 40 million impressions from 258 stations. It's the highest debut since Rihanna's "Diamonds" opened at No. 28 on the radio tally the week of Oct. 13, 2012. ("Diamonds" went on to crown the Hot 100 and Radio Songs for three weeks each). "Roar" represents Perry's highest start on Radio Songs, despite its midweek arrival; she previously began best with "California Gurls" (featuring Snoop Dogg) (No. 31) in 2010. "Gurls" was the lead single from "Teenage Dream," which yielded five Hot 100 No. 1s (tying Michael Jackson's "Bad" in 1987-88 for the most leaders from a set). "Roar" introduces Perry's "Prism," due Oct. 22. Lady Gaga's "Applause" misses the Hot 100, although even with just two days of airplay it comes oh-so-close to the 75-position Radio Songs ranking with 16 million impressions via 210 stations. Still, it storms onto Dance/Electronic Songs at No. 16. "Applause" previews Gaga's "ARTPOP," due Nov. 11. TOP 10 TRACKS: It's still the dog days, but things are starting to pick up, here and there, at least. Robin Thicke is still on top and still well north of 300k, but the stadium-hopping duo of Jay Z and JT have twerked their way past Miley Cyrus to snag the second slot, with a 2% uptick. Others making positive moves: the adorable Anna Kendrick (+4%), the exploding Avicii (+13%), the long-legged Daft Punk-Pharrell Williams combo (+9%), even as their second collab becomes available, and stealthy siren Lana Del Rey (+24%), who finally has a Top 10 hit to call her own. Next week, of course, the big board will get a major shake-up, as Katy Perry's Roar and Lady Gaga's Applause elbow their way into the picture.
1. Robin Thicke, Blurred Lines 346k 2. Jay Z f/Justin Timberlake, Holy Grail 166k 3. Miley Cyrus, We Can't Stop 158k 4. Imagine Dragons, Radioactive 132k 5. Anna Kendrick, Cups 114k 6. Avicii, Wake Me Up 113k 7. Daft Punk f/Pharrell, Get Lucky 113k 8. Drake f/Majid Jordan, Hold On, We're Going Home 109k 9. Lana Del Rey, Summertime Sadness 101k 10. Capital Cities, Safe and Sound 103k
Just below the big board, and heading straight toward it, is Lorde's Royals, which jumped #21-15 on 77k, a 35% increase. The other top debut is Ariana Grande's Big Sean-featuring Right There. Yup, both are on Republic speaking of which, Florida Georgia Line's Cruise is finally winding down, slipping #6-13 on 89k (-17%) after 61 weeks on the chart. And in its 118th week, AWOLNATION's Sail keeps chugging along, selling another 53k to bring its grand total north of 3.4m. Yowza.

The twitter followers' gain might be largely due to 'Demi Lovato on Glee' I think. Also 'Wake me up' is still doing quite well on iTunes chart www.apple.com/euro/itunes/charts/top10songs.html Avicii's got 11 number ones out of 21 countries (excluding Japan) in overall songs, and if he's not number one he's most likely number two. Today he reached a new peak on the US chart (that I remember), number three at the moment. ETA Avicii's WMU keeps holding on the number one position in all countries in iTunes Dance songs.

Robin Thicke No. 1, Katy Perry No. 2 On Hot 100 'Blurred Lines,' featuring T.I. and Pharrell, leads for an 11th week, fending off Katy Perry's 'Roar,' which rockets 85-2. Plus, Lady Gaga's 'Applause' debuts at No. 6
In an extremely close race, Robin Thicke tops the Billboard Hot 100 for an 11th week with "Blurred Lines" (featuring T.I. and Pharrell). The song narrowly holds off Katy Perry's "Roar," which blasts 85-2 following its first full week of sales. Lady Gaga's "Applause" adds to the top 10's shakeup, debuting at No. 6, also after its first week of sales. Despite "Roar" arriving as the top-selling song in the U.S., Thicke's lead in streaming and airplay is just enough for "Lines" to fend off Perry's challenge. "Lines" and "Roar," in fact, are separated by just a 3.3% difference in overall chart points (with "Lines" down by 9% and "Roar" up by 1,262%). "Roar" does just that, skyrocketing 85-2 in its second week on the Hot 100. Last week, the song dented the chart via its No. 29 start on Radio Songs (40 million) due solely to its first four days of airplay. The song vaults with top Airplay Gainer honors, lifting 29-13 on Radio Songs (63 million, up 56%). Still, it's the track's first week of sales that largely powers its Hot 100 move, as "Roar" debuts atop Digital Songs with 557,000. As previously reported, the bow marks the sixth-largest sales week for a digital song, Perry's best sum and the biggest total for Capitol Records. With its flight, "Roar" becomes Perry's 12th Hot 100 top 10 and first since her last entry, "Wide Awake," reached No. 2 a year ago. Of her 13 radio-promoted singles as a lead act dating to her seven-week No. 1 breakout smash "I Kissed a Girl" in 2008, she's missed the top tier only with "Thinking of You" (No. 29, 2009). Among her haul are seven No. 1s, including five from her last album, "Teenage Dream," which joined Michael Jackson's "Bad" (1987-88) as the only sets ever to yield five Hot 100 No. 1s. "Roar" previews Perry's follow-up album "Prism," due Oct. 22. Joining Perry with a Hot 100 top 10 entrance this week is Lady Gaga, whose "Applause" debuts at No. 6. Following its radio and retail release on Aug. 19, the track begins on Digital Songs at No. 3 (218,000), Streaming Songs at No. 9 (2.9 million) and Radio Songs at No. 40 (31 million, up 97%; it registered 16 million in last week's airplay tracking period after less than two days of availability.) Having premiered the official video for "Applause" on Monday (Aug. 19), the song is likely to make significant streaming gains to be reflected next week. ******************** ******************** For the complete article, go to www.billboard.com/articles/news/5660927/robin-thicke-no-1-katy-perry-no-2-on-hot-100

A TwitLonger by @mmadamimadamm who is a member of IDF:
FROM IDF: @adamlambert and South Korea
"I haven't had much time to post lately, but I just wanted to give an update on If I Had You and its amazing popularity in South Korea---more than three years after it was released as a single original.gif
In today's Gaon chart, the Korean equivalent to Billboard, IIHY is still in the top 20 on both the digital and download foreign artist charts at #14 and #17, respectively. I'm not sure what the difference is between those two charts, but I do know that digital purchases, according to a recent article, make up 56% of all music bought in Korea. (That compares with just 13.7% in Japan, where physical CDs are still much preferred.)
To give some perspective: IIHY is soaring above big hits released a good two years later, such as Maroon 5's Payphone, and is sharing the top 20 with Katy Perry's Roar and Gaga's Applause. In a music-loving country (of 50 million) where Maroon 5 is practically worshiped, that's quite an achievement!
It's impossible to escape the Psy beer ad featuring IIHY here. It's been playing for almost two months now. Whenever I turn on the TV at night, I catch it at least half a dozen times in both short and long versions. And just last week the popular Korean cable network TVN started using it in one of its promos as well w00twave.gif Hot on the heels of Trespassing being used to promote CSI Miami, that's quite a lot of Adam exposure on Korean TV!"

TOP 10 TRACKS: Major shake-up on the leaderboard, as Katy Perry, Gaga and Luke Bryan hit it like a barrage of boulders, scattering longtime Top 10 occupants all over the place. But Robin Thicke not only survived, he managed to hang tough at #2 in an estrogen-testosterone faceoff, besting his debuting labelmate by a good seven inches. Also feeling rather good about themselves are Avicii (+22%), Lana Del Rey (+15%), Jay Z and JT (+7%) and Lorde, who completes her rapid rise to the big show with a robust 39% uptick. 1. Katy Perry, Roar 557k 2. Robin Thicke, Blurred Lines 291k 3. Lady Gaga, Applause 218k 4. Jay Z f/Justin Timberlake, Holy Grail 178k 5. Luke Bryan, That's My Kind of Night 164k 6. Miley Cyrus, We Can't Stop 148k 7. Avicii, Wake Me Up 138k 8. Imagine Dragons, Radioactive 121k 9. Lana Del Rey, Summertime Sadness 117k 10. Lorde, Royals 107k Bumped off the board were Drake f/Majid Jordan in a typical week-two dip, Anna Kendrick, (#5-13), Daft Punk f/Pharrell (#7-17) and Capital Cities (#10-14). Man, this is like playing pinball game on UMGD's highest-grade hashish. source: www.hitsdailydouble.com/news/rumormill.cgi
