Q3: Thanks for your analysis of the HCJr selection. I watched the videos and I have to say I agree with your comments. I hope for the kids's sake he will be a decent judge. For myself, I am disappointed that Idol didn't try to give the show a makeover. They obviously are afraid of alienating their core older audience. I have only watched the show during seasons seven and eight. I do read articles about the show and check out YouTubes from time to time, so I like hearing from the long time fans for broader perspective.
Someone mentioned up thread that Adam said somewhere that he has been getting numerous offers, but he and DMG have said no to many of them. Can someone tell me more about this? I missed that.
Also I would like to know more about how people/groups like Macklemore achieved such success without being signed to a label. I actually read it in an entertainment magazine before it was mentioned here, and I was flabbergasted. Do any of you here think this is possible for Adam? What is involved with that? How does it work? Grateful for any information any of you can provide.
i don't know exactly what to predict for Adam, except his professional life is going to continue to get better as long as he is associated with DMG. they seem to be doing right by him. I would love to see him continue with TV and movies, as in acting, not just hosting.

I would love to see him continue with TV and movies, as in acting, not just hosting. This afternoon, I spoke with someone who knows Harry's manager and a lot about Harry. He pointed out something that I had not thought of. HCJ is pretty good actor and, if the producers' give him good direction on the judges part, he will do fine. It is the first actor that they have had on the Idol panel. So perhaps it will be fine. *** Macklemore is the first musician to do this in over 20 years. But he will not be the last. It is possible because the major labels cannot control digital music, streaming and on demand play like they did broadcast radio and TV. Even Apple is giving in now. It is going to be an interesting few years as we go through the rest of this transition. *** I have been thinking a bit about what Adam will do next. I have no idea. For the first time it is a mystery to me. But I feel very strongly that it will be a very good year.

Absolutely stunning. Wonderful setting for Glee. Sure hope to see Adam there. As TPTKT (The Person That Knows Things), when will we see Adam on Glee??

I have heard the chipmonk and/or the Donald Duck effect in concerts and it doesn't necessarily have anything to do with runs or high notes. It is a phenomenon of the ears that sometimes occurs when the speakers are in just the right placement for that effect personally. In fact, it can occur when the artist is just speaking onstage. The first time I heard it I was horrified that the artist I loved sounded so strange and turned around to see if anyone else was as startled as I was. No one else has that puzzled expression so I figured it was only me. After a while, it subsided and then went completely away. What a strange sensation. I love runs and high notes and all kinds of vocal acrobatics. I think Adam is choosy when and how to use his incredible voice gifts. I love Whitney Houston gospel type singing anyway. It lifts me up, gives me chills and touches me. I do love beautiful quiet music as well. I think Elvis sang some of the most beautiful emotional songs. His "Amazing Grace" for one. He could wring every drop of emotion from a song just like Adam can. Whatever Adam wants to sing, I'll take it and treasure it forever.

I haven't had a chance to watch OITNB yet, but I agree with the recommendation for Long Way Round. I really enjoyed it, too! I loved LWR too! And they made a second trip and that series is called "Long Way Down." They journey from Scotland to Africa. They're showing it on a channel I get so I've been watching it again. Ooh, I forgot about the second trip. I haven't seen it. Thanks for the reminder! Q3, Harry won't be the first actor on the panel. Jennifer Lopez has been in a couple dozen movies and was nominated for a Golden Globe, and Ellen DeGeneres acted in her own TV sitcom. I had always liked Harry Connick, Jr, but I thought he did a disservice to the contestants during his last mentor appearance (which he used to audition for the judge job) and he tried too hard at their expense to prove that he had an opinion and a point of view that he wasn't afraid to voice. But he came across as very unpleasant. He seemed to want to show that he could offer pointed critiques and actionable instruction, but to me he just proved that he has limited vision. I don't think this new panel will revitalize the show, but it could be the old, comfy shoe kind of judges' table that a lot of the audience will like.
