I was digging around in the basement, 2009, and came across this silly thing:

Absolutely stunning. Wonderful setting for Glee. Sure hope to see Adam there. As TPTKT (The Person That Knows Things), when will we see Adam on Glee?? No idea!!! I know nothing about Glee. Haven't watched since season 2. That theatre info came from a Glee forum via chunkey

They are really impressive ninjas -- IMO this is the most beautiful classic theater in LA!! And there is a lot of competition. I hope that Adam gets to be on that stage on Glee -- it suits him.

Yes, misha!! Exactly my feelings about Harry's last mentoring stint! I actually liked him before that! Lost respect for the way he degraded Amber. There was no reason for that. And she was my least favorite of the girls. That was not being a mentor!

As much as I would like to see Queen and Adam add at least a few dates, whether this year or another time, I am not too optomistic, given the other projects that Roger and Brian seem to have going. Hope I'm wrong because they are so great together. It may depend on how Brian's knee mends. They seem to enjoy performing as Queen, but aren't driven. If they don't do much more together, it would be my hope that they would allow some sort of dvd/movie of their London concerts be done. It is a shame to let all that fabulous footage rot in a vault. And I would hope it wouldn't take as long as the Freddie/Michael work! However, I consider the Kiev stream a great gift, and will treasure it no matter what else they may do. We are also so lucky to have so many fan videos - something that was impossible not that long ago.
Now, OTOH as heavy a schedule as Nile has, I see great possibilities here for Adam. The two seem to be soul mates - both eager to learn and share. As much experience and expertise as Nile has, he seems so eager to share it, and expand his own horizons as well. They are both like sponges, it seems. And Nile appreciates Adam's talent - and character. So this relationship looks to be win win. (and win - for us!) Who knows where it could lead - more work together as well as networking I can't begin to imagine. Nile must know and have worked with just about everyone in the business! And it is great to see him getting the recognition he is enjoying now.
We all knew Adam belonged on a show like Glee - I have no doubt it will lead to many opportunities - more TV, more singing, acting, hosting who knows what all. As Nile says, one day the world will see....
So I see Adam doing a great deal of collaborating, which he loves, but he has the self confidence and drive to stay on a path to create his own music as well. We are a lucky bunch of fans - just a little impatient...

Q3, for a fairly young city, it really is amazing the beautiful old theatres we have. I guess it is the Hollywood influence? The first time I walked into The Wiltern, I was floored! Literally standing there with my mouth open!!

I loved LWR too! And they made a second trip and that series is called "Long Way Down." They journey from Scotland to Africa. They're showing it on a channel I get so I've been watching it again. Ooh, I forgot about the second trip. I haven't seen it. Thanks for the reminder! Q3, Harry won't be the first actor on the panel. Jennifer Lopez has been in a couple dozen movies and was nominated for a Golden Globe, and Ellen DeGeneres acted in her own TV sitcom. I've always liked Harry Connick, Jr, but I thought he did a disservice to the contestants during his last mentor appearance (which he used to audition for the judge job) and he tried too hard at their expense to prove that he had an opinion and a point of view that he wasn't afraid to voice. He seemed to want to show that he could offer pointed critiques and actionable instruction, but to me he just proved that he has limited vision. I don't think this new panel will revitalize the show, but it could be the old, comfy shoe kind of judges' table that a lot of the audience will like. First of all, I really agree that he seems to have limited vision. ** I was not clear and did not clearly relay what he said -- he told me they were only considering men for the 3rd judge. I believe he meant actor vs. actresses, his point was the other male judges on Idol and the other similar shows are/were musicians, music biz people and comedians. I got the impression this was part of the pro-Harry pitch and that they used JLo's success as an example. No mention of Ellen. I think he is right about no other actors. But I have not thought a lot about it.

Q3: Thanks for your analysis of the HCJr selection. I watched the videos and I have to say I agree with your comments. I hope for the kids's sake he will be a decent judge. For myself, I am disappointed that Idol didn't try to give the show a makeover. They obviously are afraid of alienating their core older audience. I have only watched the show during seasons seven and eight. I do read articles about the show and check out YouTubes from time to time, so I like hearing from the long time fans for broader perspective. Someone mentioned up thread that Adam said somewhere that he has been getting numerous offers, but he and DMG have said no to many of them. Can someone tell me more about this? I missed that. Also I would like to know more about how people/groups like Macklemore achieved such success without being signed to a label. I actually read it in an entertainment magazine before it was mentioned here, and I was flabbergasted. Do any of you here think this is possible for Adam? What is involved with that? How does it work? Grateful for any information any of you can provide. i don't know exactly what to predict for Adam, except his professional life is going to continue to get better as long as he is associated with DMG. they seem to be doing right by him. I would love to see him continue with TV and movies, as in acting, not just hosting. This afternoon, I spoke with someone who knows Harry's manager and a lot about Harry. He pointed out something that I had not thought of. HCJ is pretty good actor and, if the producers' give him good direction on the judges part, he will do fine. It is the first actor that they have had on the Idol panel. So perhaps it will be fine. *** Macklemore is the first musician to do this in over 20 years. But he will not be the last. It is possible because the major labels cannot control digital music, streaming and on demand play like they did broadcast radio and TV. Even Apple is giving in now. It is going to be an interesting few years as we go through the rest of this transition. *** I have been thinking a bit about what Adam will do next. I have no idea. For the first time it is a mystery to me. But I feel very strongly that it will be a very good year. I think that it would be good to also keep in mind that Idol does not show the mentoring sessions in their entirety. They choose bits and pieces, often losing some of the context. Here is a video interview after the show with HCJ in which he says that Idol did not show the part of the sessions where he tells each contestant to take everything he says with a grain of salt, that it is only his opinion. He also says that he was not saying that they could not sing licks, just that they needed to learn the song first. Also, I think HCJ's advice to Amber was spot on. I think she took it to heart and it showed in her performance of Funny Valentine, which was one of her best performances of the season. It may have been hard advice to hear at the time, but it will make her a much better singer! But on the choice of the Stormy Weather version, I too would have liked to see Kree sing the more bluesy version. ETA - Also, since Idol does not show the whole mentoring session, we do not know if HCJ did or did not explain the meaning of the song to Amber. It would not surprise me if Idol showed the pieces of the session what would cause the most talk, whether good or bad.
