I really hate band talk. Not saying it should stop. I just feel it is Adam's career, his choice. He is a professional. Can't see him hiring anyone he doesn't deem capable just because they are a friend. In the long run, he is a solo artist. They are a back up band. They will come and go as Adam chooses! ETA: wanted to add, I guess for me, Criticizing the band always makes me feel like it implies Adam doesn't know what he's doing. They are professional musicians -- I think it is OK to give a fair critique of their performance. I have been very kind about how lackluster they were in Miami -- but frankly, Rick could have not even been there for how little he contributed. I am not anti-band and thought they were great in Delmar and quite good in Pittsburgh. Miami - ummm the band (particularly Tommy and Rick) seem hungover. The only energy on that stage came from Adam and Brian.

What I find somewhat amusing is there were comments made after iHeart that Dr Brian was getting too old and had lost a bit. Adam will never please everybody so I am in the camp hecandowhateverhewants Ugh. I was watching iHeart last night and was so into Brian's playing and was even watching his hands. I love everything about that performance so much. It does blow my mind what people complain about. But you're right that will always happen so Adam should do what he wants.

I must have missed something about the fan from Italy. Did she win the meet and greet? The pics are adorable. It was the Make A Wish foundation & that was her wish. So they flew her in from Italy, she had lunch eith Adam, and went to the concert. I am guessing that "contest" is just a bad translation. BTW, this is not the first Make A Wish child Adam has done

I think that their is a big different between critiquing a performance and criticizing an individual or friend of Adam's.
IMO when people spend thousands of dollars to see a performance, the lead guitarist should tune his guitar. I have been to literally 1000's of rock concerts, from clubs to stadiums, and last Saturday night was the first time I heard a lead guitarist play an out-of-tune guitar in concert.

Out of curiosity, how many professional musicians are members here? I know we have a few. Would love to hear a Tommy critique from someone who is a professional guitarist. I think he sounds fine so would love specifics about what his problem is.
ETA: pretty sure the guitar wranglers do the guitar tuning, no?

I'm not so knowledgeable that I could judge good, great or mediocre guitar playing, and honestly I don't pay much attention to the band. i think Tommy and Ashely have an interesting look, and Longineau and Isaac seemed to have more personality. But the band has to be available to play at very occasional gigs. being on the road together is another thing. Didn't Monte help select Tommy>? I've not missed Monte one bit and after what he did over that album, well, who needs friends like that no matter what their skills.

I play guitar, but not electric/rock. And, I barely notice the band members onstage. I am only interested in Adam. In fact, I get frustrated when I have to wait thru a guitar solo before Adam starts singing again. But, in Tommy's defense, no, he does not tune his guitar. If you watch closely, there is a guy who brings him different guitars for different numbers. That is because they have to be tuned differently for ease playing some of the keys Adam sings in, or because Tommy wants a different type of sound for a number. This guy is responsible to have the guitars all tuned and ready to go when needed. My little gripe is Brian playing key-tar. It is so much more limited than his standing keyboards. I want Brian to be playing with BOTH FRICKIN' HANDS to add depth to the sound. Not holding the key-tar with one hand while playing three notes with the other. And yes, I am a trained pianist. Haven't done it professionally, but my sister has for over 40 years, and what she can do on the keys is impressive. The key-tar is not. JMO.

I have been to literally 1000's of rock concerts, from clubs to stadiums, and last Saturday night was the first time I heard a lead guitarist play an out-of-tune guitar in concert. Good point. I guess I don't see anything wrong with commenting on a concert. After all, I've just paid money to see it. If I've spent a significant amount of money, I would expect the performance to be good. Kind of disappointing if it is obviously under-rehearsed or has serious sound issues. (Not saying Adam's concert wasn't good, since I wasn't there -- I'm just making a general comment.) I guess I have more of a problem with criticisms of Adam's friends or who he is dating. After all, we don't know any of these people -- they could be the nicest people in the world. Adam is a better judge of who best suits him as a friend or lover than fans are. But, everyone has their own opinion, of course. Those are the days that I just scroll.
