Time will tell. I can see both sides label or independent. Adam has surprised us many many times. Would not put it past him to have found a round about for label push for radio since that worked so well in the past. Yes I know RCA, but... I don't know the music business but if anyone could create a new paradigm for his business plan it would be Adam. If you can hire a concert promoter or a distribution system why could you not hire a radio team? Just talking off the top of my head but if both sides of a deal make money anything should be possible. I think Adam has had some pretty good mentors this last year who have been in the music business since forever who have information and contacts he should be able to use. Could you sign with a label for only specific purposes?

This is in response to mys*&@^#r's post, which is on last page and got away from me, so I am adding her post manually. Sorry about the miss/mess:

Interesting scenario from craazyforadam, but i don't see it happening that way.
The one thing Adam has lacked is radio play. You need a label with an aggressive radio team to get that, if you are not one of the annointed ones (Katy, Bruno, etc.) Adam said he was talking to labels when he was on Ellen, I believe him. Shosh has hinted that he has a label in replies to fans. I could be wrong, but IMO, Adam needs a label. It is up to DMG to get him the best deal. I believe they can and have.
ETA: If he wasn't meeting with a specific label, in NYC (cough"Island"cough) there would really be little reason for him to go there. LA is the center of the entertainment industry in the US. I am sure he could have made many business deals here for his brand without having to go to NYC.
I am sticking with, he met with his label (cough"Island"cough.) They gave him the go ahead on his demos and new music is coming soon!
Endquote.

And his tweet about small biz and American dream was just about nothing?
Nope, not buying that at all.
I do think that your scenario is the most likely alternative, but I do not believe, that it is what he has done.
I think he maybe had talks with Island and may even be working with them in various capacities, but I doubt he signed a 360. I had earlier responded to your post yesterday night, I think he is putting building a brand and momentum before radio promotion. And here is why: He has barked up that tree how many times now and gotten nowhere? Just trying to do the same thing one more time does not make business sense. Not for a label or for him. Doing the same thing and hoping for a different result is just foolish.
At the same time, Adam saw this year that some artists who have been in this biz since 10 years or more, but never anywhere in the charts, can all of a sudden have a break-out hit. The rules are not as firm, as they used to be. If he wants to be in radio, and I think he does, he will come through the back-door, the front door was slammed into his face one too many times.
If he can have i.e. a film hit, or something like that, he can cross over into radio, he has enough name recognition to get there. But he needs to be on a roll and then cross over, not the other way around.
And if that is true, then going with straight-up label 360 is not helping him, but on the other hand, saddling him with label expectations on what to do with his career.
Nope, that tweet was a declaration of his business vision. And his vision is just not limited to music.
But that makes the discussion fun. Now folks have different horses to bet on and we got ourselves a little game. Not trying to place bets on his career, lol. Just debating. I am glad we have no influence about it one way or the other and are just playing a guessing game.
ETA: The trip to NYC could be as simple as there were lots of business dealings to get done, and Adam's accounting department sits in Staten Island (my perception - only), and Island Records sits out there too, and entertainment lawyers exist on both sides of the coast and somehow it just made more sense to get the necessary parties together there, rather than in LA. Does not mean for me that the type of business arrangement can be read out of that.

Could you sing with a label for only specific purposes? You are right, there are lots of ways to set this up. There are independent radio promotion companies. You do not need a label to do that. But you need a label to bankroll the promotion. There are label contracts with limited terms (like one album) but they are rare. The big, experienced artists that Adam is working with a lot -- Queen and Nile -- both have major label deals. Adam has the best entertainment lawyers, great management, great financial management, almost 5 years of post Idol experience, experience dealing with slimy indie record labels, experience working with other major label and indie artist, etc. And, last, but not least, he has a very loyal global fanbase. Adam is in the perfect position to get what he wants -- whatever that is.
