Bringing this over from end of dead thread. Not that it is that important, but would like opinions on release question. I know no one knows anything for sure, but just curious on guesses, hunches. Being an entertainer is owning my own small business. I am so grateful to have earned this right. Michelle @insomniac19 Will not tweet to Adam about his business not being that small. Will not tweet to Adam about his business not being that small. ----------- HA...I was tired and misread the above twitter quote....at first thought Adam was implying that he was starting his own record label. Anyway, I enjoy all the speculation about what is to come regarding timeline of new music/label etc. I know absolutely nothing about all of this, but wondering if those who know about such things think they will make a big effort to release the new CD on a week with little competition. There seems to be many big artists releasing new music in 2014, so it may be impossible to find such a week. Such exciting times coming up Read more: adamtopia.com/thread/2100/14-adam-confirms-new-music?page=10#ixzz2pmdEUAVUWay late to this discussion -- my guess is the he is putting together his world tour -- and he is using the GNT model where he owns and manages the tour. He can bootstrap the funding for a tour and minimize the risk with deals with promoters. Same for his merchandising -- he can bootstrap that when he gets control which should be soon. On a label, I really doubt Adam will remain independent -- he will sign with a label so he has funding to work with "big producers" and they can help him get radio airplay. He understands the risk of the recording business and Adam seems financially risk adverse. ETA: This is not the first time Adam has talked about running a business. He did it in interviews when he was putting together GNT.

Q3, do you think he will be forced to sign a 360 deal to get a major contract? Ugh!!! >:( No, I do not think Adam will be forced to do anything. He has a lot of bargaining power -- when he went on Idol and signed that agreement with 19 he had no power. And I the only reason he would sign a 360 deal would be if it was for semi-massive $$$ like a mini version of Madonna's deal with LiveNation or Jay-Z's deal. Like everything else, it is all about the deal terms, there is nothing innately bad about a 360 deal. ETA: Note -- just one minor thing -- Adam has a publishing agreement and he already has a merchandising contract (which should end soon) so he can't sign a 360 deal unless someone buys out the existing agreements. He could strike some form of expanded contract. I do not believe he will, but if he does, it will because it is the right thing for him to do. ETA #2: Adam has managed to get rid of two pre-Idol agreements without ending up in court, he has gotten out of his 19 Recordings agreement, he has escaped RCA, Adam and his team are surely capable of striking a great deal with a label and/or whatever else is going on.

IMO, Adam is smart & DMG are good deal brokers. I think Adam is a desirable entity and has a lot of bargaining power. Just because the new RCA regime didn't know what to do with him, doesn't mean there aren't others out there dying to get him! I think we will have big news in 10-14 days

I also interpreted his small business tweet as simply thinking of himself somewhat as a commodity that people are willing to pay for my buying his music, attending his concerts, etc. Because he is able to bring in income from this selling of his talent and persona he can employ a "team", and also get gigs like Glee. His business is being Adam Lambert and a mighty good business it is.
I think the independent scenario is interesting, but all I have heard Adam say recently, which isn't much as quiet as he has been of late, is that he is looking forward to a new label home (from his goodbye RCA letter) telling Ellen happily that he is talking to labels, and that he hopes that radio is receptive to his new music.

Interesting scenario from craazyforadam, but i don't see it happening that way.
The one thing Adam has lacked is radio play. You need a label with an aggressive radio team to get that, if you are not one of the annointed ones (Katy, Bruno, etc.) Adam said he was talking to labels when he was on Ellen, I believe him. Shosh has hinted that he has a label in replies to fans. I could be wrong, but IMO, Adam needs a label. It is up to DMG to get him the best deal. I believe they can and have.
ETA: If he wasn't meeting with a specific label, in NYC (cough"Island"cough) there would really be little reason for him to go there. LA is the center of the entertainment industry in the US. I am sure he could have made many business deals here for his brand without having to go to NYC.
I am sticking with, he met with his label (cough"Island"cough.) They gave him the go ahead on his demos and new music is coming soon!
Endquote.---------------------------------------------------------------------------- And his tweet about small biz and American dream was just about nothing? Nope, not buying that at all. I do think that your scenario is the most likely alternative, but I do not believe, that it is what he has done. I think he maybe had talks with Island and may even be working with them in various capacities, but I doubt he signed a 360. I had earlier responded to your post yesterday night, I think he is putting building a brand and momentum before radio promotion. And here is why: He has barked up that tree how many times now and gotten nowhere? Just trying to do the same thing one more time does not make business sense. Not for a label or for him. Doing the same thing and hoping for a different result is just foolish. At the same time, Adam saw this year that some artists who have been in this biz since 10 years or more, but never anywhere in the charts, can all of a sudden have a break-out hit. The rules are not as firm, as they used to be. If he wants to be in radio, and I think he does, he will come through the back-door, the front door was slammed into his face one too many times. If he can have i.e. a film hit, or something like that, he can cross over into radio, he has enough name recognition to get there. But he needs to be on a roll and then cross over, not the other way around. And if that is true, then going with straight-up label 360 is not helping him, but on the other hand, saddling him with label expectations on what to do with his career. Nope, that tweet was a declaration of his business vision. And his vision is just not limited to music. But that makes the discussion fun. Now folks have different horses to bet on and we got ourselves a little game. Not trying to place bets on his career, lol. Just debating. I am glad we have no influence about it one way or the other and are just playing a guessing game. ETA: The trip to NYC could be as simple as there were lots of business dealings to get done, and Adam's accounting department sits in Staten Island (my perception - only), and Island Records sits out there too, and entertainment lawyers exist on both sides of the coast and somehow it just made more sense to get the necessary parties together there, rather than in LA. Does not mean for me that the type of business arrangement can be read out of that. The trip to NYC could have involved MTV/VH1, or a music collaborator, or a meeting with a producer, or a meeting with an ad agency, or a meeting with a designer/fashion line, or a number of other things. IMO there is no chance Adam was not in NY doing a deal, meeting with lawyers. There is little chance that Adam is directly involved in any discussion with any label attorneys or accountants or contract discussions with anyone other than his team. He would meet his attorneys and management and financial managers and the attorneys do the negotiation. Adam's financial managers, business lawyers, accounting firm, artist management, publishing management and booking agent are all in the LA area. As far as I can determine, all of his business team is in LA.

Some time in Feburary after Glee? Or a Spring Single release, and album around Summer late fall, maybe coincided with a LMD single release?

I can't even guess on when there will be single because we know nothing.
But assuming that he now has a label deal -- I think the decision has been made. And that he has a lot of demos done. Then here is my dream schedule:
March 2014 Adam new track online (track #1, not a single, but a teaser to generate buzz). Adam does another VH1 special performance show.
April 2014 New single released (track #2), push to HAC and CHR/Pop radio, Adam returns to Idol and performs single.
April-May 2014 Queenbert does something. (Assuming Brian is OK, 6 concerts US + Japan)
May 18, 2014: Adam performs on The 2014 Billboard Music Awards
May - August 2014 Adam promo heats up. Adam is lot of places. Radio promo concerts.
Summer 2014 Second single released when needed.
Late August 2014 A3 global release. August 24, 2014 Adam performs new song on the Video Music Awards.
September 2014 Adam returns to Glee for a 1 show guest appearance.
October 2014 - A3 Worldwide Tour
November 2014 Adam performs on The 42nd Anniversary American Music Awards.
