Adam Lambert Is Conspicuously Absent From Avicii’s “Lay Me Down”
Mike Wass, May 22nd, 2014
While we wait for Avicii to select the follow-up to top 20 smash “Hey Brother” in America, the Swedish hitmaker is already rolling out the fifth single from True internationally. He opted for “Lay Me Down” — a disco-infused floorfiller, which was co-penned by Chic legend Nile Rodgers and voiced by Adam Lambert. Unfortunately, they are both absent from the video.
It’s disappointing because the DJ has gone above and beyond to deliver great visuals this era. (Highlights include the “Addicted To You” lego alternate video and his wild “Wake Me Up” animated adventure). Don’t get me wrong. “Lay Me Down” is still worth a look but it could have been so much better. Watch Avicii do his thing behind the decks up top.
Would the video be better with Adam? Let us know in the comments below.

1. “While we wait for Avicii to select the follow-up to top 20 smash “Hey Brother” in America,…” Wrong, Island Records has scheduled “Addicted To You” to go to Mainstream Top 40 in the US on June 3, 2014. It was announced two weeks ago.
2. “….the Swedish hitmaker is already rolling out the fifth single from True internationally. He opted for “Lay Me Down” — a disco-infused floorfiller, which was co-penned by Chic legend Nile Rodgers and voiced by Adam Lambert.” Wrong, do I even need to spell out the error!! Adam co-wrote this track!!!
3. “Unfortunately, they are both absent from the video.” Well what did he expect? Clearly he knows nothing about Avicii. Avicii never puts vocalists and musicians in his videos. (There is a minor fleeting exception in WMU and that is it!)
4. “It’s disappointing because the DJ has gone above and beyond to deliver great visuals this era. (Highlights include the “Addicted To You” lego alternate video and his wild “Wake Me Up” animated adventure).” Nonsense. There are not vocalists or musicians in these music videos either. So this is totally nonsensical! Avicii tends to do narrative videos, so he is not likely to stop now and do a performance video. Just get real!
5. “Don’t get me wrong. “Lay Me Down” is still worth a look but it could have been so much better. Watch Avicii do his thing behind the decks up top.” Well, just my humble opinion, may I respectfully disagree! I really do not give a f’ what is in the video. With Adam’s voice, Nile on guitar and Avicii’s sprinkle of his magic sauce, I just want to dance. So crank up the volume and have some fun. Cause I think that is the whole point of this video
I don’t mind if others disagree with me. But I think every living breathing Adam fan, knows that is his voice. And if an Avicii video can snag a few new fans here, there and worldwide, well it’s OK with me!!
Here is the video if you want to dance a bit! And hear that glorious voice!

Avicii premieres music video for Adam Lambert collab ‘Lay Me Down’:
Avicii has premiered the official music video for the fifth single to be lifted from his debut studio album True.
Lay Me Down was written by the Swedish producer and DJ with Ash Pournouri, Nile Rodgers and Adam Lambert, and follows the massive chart success of the record’s earlier cuts Wake Me Up, You Make Me, Hey Brother and Addicted To You.
The track is an immediate win with each artist bringing their trademark skills to the party. Rodgers’ classy funk riffs, Lambert’s effortless vocal range and Avicii’s superb dancefloor production combined create a superb disco EDM offering that certainly warrants ‘official single’ status.
The song’s music video received its premiere earlier today and features footage of Avicii behind the scenes and performing at the Tele 2 Arena in Stockholm, Sweden.

Queen, fronted by Adam Lambert, set to tour Australia in August.
“This may be the last chance Australian fans have to see one of the greatest rock bands in history,” – band promoter Paul Dainty.
By Estelle Vosloo
Living forever is British pop band Queen who will visit Australia with their own brand of magic in August this year.
The performance will include enormously talented Adam Lambert as vocal front man. A befitting replacement for the late great Freddie Mercury, Lambert is sure to do the legend and legacy that is Mr Mercury justice.
Australian’s will be treated to Queen’s performance in August this year – the first time since their 1985 performance on Aussie soil, 6 years before Mercury’s untimely death.
Rumoured to possibly be the group’s last performance, the band will make appearances at the Perth Arena on 22 August, Sydney’s Allphones Area on 26 August, Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne on August 29 and Brisbane Entertainment Centre on 1 September.
The tour will include original Queen guitarist Brian May and drummer Roger Taylor.
Lambert has been working with Queen since he first appeared on the American Idols reality show in 2009. His spectacular vocal range would have made Mercury proud to pass the banner to this deserving talent.
This may be the last chance Australian fans have to see one of the greatest rock bands in history,” promoter Paul Dainty said.
Lambert, who has been a Queen die-hard fan, said he is in complete awe of the Queen phenomenon. He successfully auditioned for Idols with his haunting rendition of the Queen classic Bohemian Rhapsody. “The thought of sharing the stage for a full set in Australia is so beautifully surreal. I’m honoured to be able to pay my respects to Freddie’s memory; he’s a personal hero of mine, and I am deeply grateful for the chance to sing such powerful music for fans of this legendary band.
“I know this tour will be a huge milestone for me, and with the support of Brian, Roger and the rest of the band, I feel like magic will be on display,” mused Lambert when asked about the upcoming Australian tour.
The band’s last album, The Cosmos Rocks, peaked at No. 49 in Australia in 2008, but reached the Top 5 in the UK.
Tickets go on sale on 28 May.

#27 ”Modern Times Rock'n'Roll” (1973)
Written by: Roger Taylor
Released on Queen on July 13, 1973
Roger wrote and sang this song. It was his track on Queen’s debut. The Rolling Stone review of this album ended with this….
There's a song on the album (remarkably reminiscent of "Communication Breakdown") called "Modern Times Rock 'N' Roll," and that's exactly what Queen's music is. They're the first of a whole new wave of English rockers, and you'd best learn to love 'em now 'cause they're here to stay. Regal bearings aside, Queen is a monster.
Gordon Fletcher, album review of Queen, Rolling Stone, December 6, 1973

“Modern Times Rock'n'Roll” Re-Recordings
The song was re-recorded on two occasions for the BBC. The first was in December 1973 for John Peel's show. This version was eventually released on the 1989 Queen album At The Beeb, and sounds similar to the album version.
This is the first BBC Langham Studio version of Modern Times Rock 'n' Roll (session 3). Recorded at Langham One Studio in London on December 3, 1973 and broadcast 3 days later on BBC Radio 1.

The second re-recording was in April 1974 and was first broadcast on Bob Harris's show. The 1974 version has a slower tempo and additional vocals from Freddie Mercury.

Modern Times Rock'n'Roll
Had to make do with a worn out rock and roll scene
The old bop is getting tired need a rest
Well you know what I mean
Fifty eight that was great
But it's over now and that's all
Something harder's coming up
Gonna really knock a hole in the wall
Gonna hit ya grab you hard
Make you feel ten feet tall
Well I hope that big new baby's gonna come along soon
You don't know it could happen any old rainy afternoon
With the temperature down
And the juke box blowing no fuse
And my musical life's feeling
Like a long Sunday School cruise
And you know there's one thing
Every single body could use
Yeah listen to me baby
Let me tell you what it's all about
Modern times rock and roll
Modern times rock and roll
Get your high heeled guitar boots and some groovy clothes
Get a hair piece on your chest
And a ring through your nose
Find a nice little man who says
He's gonna make you a real big star
Stars in your eyes ants in your pants
Think you should go far
Everybody in this bum sucking world's
Gonna know just who you are
Look out
Modern times rock and roll
Have a bit of fun! You can sing this one!
