About the opening set of the concert - Now I'm Here, SCC, FBG: I love its cacophony and the way Adam handles himself there.
I can hear his voice perfectly in every song. As for the first one, I'm especially enamoured with the last 'Now I'm here, Think I'll stay around, around, around'.
In this video, around the 4:40 mark, when the instruments fade out, the only thing you can hear is the roaring of the crowd, see Adam's cocky and gleeful smile, and then he goes on with those lyrics - which, by the way, when I googled them, there are only three 'arounds'. Adam sings four. I don't know which is correct, but the important thing is that he belts those four out in a crescendo of four different keys (notes? I don't know), and it kills me every time! Just amazing.
Actually, the whole song is just a perfect opening, not only lyrically speaking, but also in the way it introduces Adam vocally. It is not an instant, full-on 'let me show you how good I am right here, right now' from the starters. It begins with a gentle, dreamy, 'Here I stand...', which keeps being soft and mellow all the time behind the curtain, a bit on the 'I can't believe I'm here' side. Then the curtain gets raised, and only then does he scream 'I'm just a... new man' and keeps building up the intensity until the final epic 'around') There's more after that, but I officially die around that bit, so.
About Stone Cold Crazy - I've never heard the song before and instantly fell in love with it, which may have enhanced my appreciation of Adam's interpretation, but it has a certain flair of his CV days... Adam looks and sounds like a rocker on it the most, for me. The bit I really love is how the instruments keep rocking on really hard, and then they almost stop when Adam starts singing, using his most relaxed, natural, undistorted, full, kind of back-throaty, chocolaty voice. It sounds sexy, turned on, a bit flirty, and quite fittingly, Adam falls onto his knees in front of Brian's guitar there:) I think, the way Adam approached it, it was not so much of a 'out-gritting Brian's guitar' thing, as much as it was 'flirting with it' thing. Though he does add more grit to his voice at the end, together with the obscene final hip thrust, for the climax of the song:)))
ETA/// My point is that I can't believe some of you don't like it!!! Come on:))) I like it so much more than a million times heard encore:) Sometimes, I literally have to push myself to go through WATC and WWRY, and even then I do it only because of Adam:)))
