Brian had a knee replacement in 2012. The cancer scare was this past December. Brian's knee replacement surgery was last August, not in 2012. On my iPhone and can't post link, but check out his soapbox -- on 7-27-13 he talks about heading to surgery. Poor Brian -- 2013 was not a great year health-wise for him. Yes, because we ALL were amazed he was ready for the iHeart Festival in Sept.!!

Aleks, I love your point! (There isn't a single video or recording that does justice to Adam's voice and/or interpretations)
Wish you could see this show in person! YOU WOULD DIE!!!!!!

oh, nooooooooooo! It's a "click till you die" type thingy...so, you have to press "return to vote" and keep at it for ever...... I bet "aliens" (Tokio Hotel) will win... not doing this... I hate these things ,but keep doing them anyway :(

Wish you could see this show in person! YOU WOULD DIE!!!!!! I think WWRY and WATC are the perfect way to end this tour's concerts (or any Queen concert). Hopefully, someone will video the audience at an upcoming concert because that is what this part of the concert experience is mostly about. >> A lot of the Queen concert experience is the audience participation -- and the highlights usually are STL or some other call and response, Radio Ga Ga (clap), and the encore. >> I am not a traditionalist but I really think that the stadium anthems should remain true to their purpose, to unify the audience is a loud, stomping community expression. This depends on the audience. All the energy that was built up throughout the concert, culminating in BoRhap, which is also a sing-along moment, is converted into joy in the three song encore. Fist pumping on WWRY, which is more about the drums, bass and percussion than the vocals -- the beat. Celebration during WATC with arm swaying (many of the Adam fans kind of do not get this one and don't participate or get all mixed up -- at the Vegas shows people were banging arms. It was sort of funny to see.) Then the house lights go on, confetti falls if you are lucky, and GSTQ plays. And it is over.

aleks, I really loved what you had to say about NIH and SCC. I, too absolutely love the hard driving rhythms, the explosion onto the stage after the tease of the opening. This may sound strange, but there is a purity to Adam and to his voice, that is beyond simply the technicalities of his vocal training and it remains there despite his sexiness on stage. I think vocal technique is only part of it.
Perhaps the word I am looking for to describe Adam is 'refined' - even if we're talking about his sexiness, he is like Dita Von Teese versus a stripper. He is also so multi-dimensional and his talent so vast that he is chamelian-like, which I think is part of what people find so confusing. He is therefore authentic in many forms of expression, some are simply more his more developed expression than others. The version of SCC you showed is Adam-porn, pure and simple. I think I described it as panther-like and dangerous, when I first saw it. Anyway, if you are enjoying Stone Cold Crazy, here is the version with James Hetfield, performed at the Freddie Mercury tribute concert. This is for your listening pleasure only, because you like the song, certainly not for comparisons and not to discuss 'rock voices': I have deliberately not listened to/watched the whole concert because I don't want to spoil my live experience completely. But each concert I go to these two songs first up and then hit repeat . He is performing these songs better and better each concert. That is simply a comment on how complex the whole Queen catalogue is to sing. I love your description! And the Dita Von Teese comparison is spot on! </img> ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Heathen that I am, I have to comment on Hetfield. He's probably also one of the untouchables. Whatever. I don't like it. What a peasant. He looks, and sounds, like he's about to shit himself. And what's with the head banging, and the hair! Yikes. For me, this is Hetfield: And this is Adam: Grace. Precision. Beauty. Form. To quote Nikki again: There is a purity to Adam and to his voice, that is beyond simply the technicalities of his vocal training and it remains there despite his sexiness on stage. I think vocal technique is only part of it.

Saw both LV shows, can't add any superlatives to the mix. It's Queen, it's Adam, it's Las Vegas, it's a small venue. Magic happened. Plus glitter shower.
But i did want to add for those who are restraining themselves from watching the videos, IMO, I think it will be worth the abstinence. I didn't have the fortitude myself, gorged on all the videos and still loved the shows, but I think there will be an added dimension of freshness for you all.
Missed the brunch, this older lady was tired and slept through it! So I'm sorry I didn't get a chance to meet with the group.
And for all those with shows still to see, have the time of your life. Seeing the audience love for Queen and for Adam is priceless. One thing I really enjoyed from the floor was looking back for the last two songs and seeing the entire venue on it's feet. The energy at that point is fabulous.
And just have to note, again, a sense of wonderment that any single human being can be so blessed. Honestly, way more than his fair share in the looks department. Still amazes me when I see him in person that so many factors can come together is such an incredibly striking way. He has it all. It is almost like he is another species that just sort of glows. Yep, the fierce alien. He is gorgeous, breathtaking, incredible. And how can anybody be so beautiful, so strong, so sexy, and then in a nanosecond turn into a geeky self effacing charmer? And then he moves. And then he sings.
Ded, just ded.
One other story. Second night I was in the balcony. At the rail on the right was a bald, tattooed, pointy bearded man, maybe 40ish, and he was Rocking Out hard core to WWRY. After the show I approached him, and asked if he was a Queen fan. He was lovely, and said yes, he was, and for a long time. I asked what he thought of Adam Lambert as the singer, and he looked at me cautiously, and said, well, I don't know if I should say this in front of you, but he was FUCKING AWESOME! We had quite a moment of celebration, it was fun.
Also, glitter shower from the balcony is stupendous, everything is blanketed with glowing reflective gold including the audience. Nice effect. And the lasers? There is one point where there is a red beam with thin white lines on either side. Never seen that before. In the balcony the laser beams were low enough to pass your hands through.
And the black clingy pants? Thank you stylist. And also a shout out to whoever mentioned the lucky person who got to assist with Adam's costume changes. Have not been able to get that image out of my mind. So much fun to be having those safe yet purient thoughts about this (to me) youngster.

I have to quote this again: There is a purity to Adam and to his voice, that is beyond simply the technicalities of his vocal training and it remains there despite his sexiness on stage. Whenever Adam curses, I find it hilarious because the tone, purity and healing quality of the voice is so at odds with the language. Whether he sings, laughs or talks, there is a buoyancy and light that permeates the whole space around him. And somehow we all feel incredibly uplifted.
